We really enjoyed our stay at Beech Cottage. As some other reviews have touched on, the garden is not secure for dogs so just bear this in mind when booking to stay with your dogs. The house was cleaned well but needs some TLC in places, mainly the family bathroom that needs a new blind urgently as it is not private currently. The kitchen could also do with some larger pots and pans to serve 6 people, half of them didn’t work on the induction hob and the extractor fan was broken. The house is in a perfect location to explore the Langdales. Chester’s on the River serves lovely baked goods and lunches which is very handy to have just around the corner. George was helpful when we wanted to add another night to our stay. It would have been nice to have small welcome pack of at least some tea/coffee and salt/pepper left and few logs to do one fire, we brought our own from home and lucky we did as there wasn’t any left.

This was booked for my wife's 60th birthday celebrations and was only prevented from being a complete disaster by my daughter arriving early to notice that the cleaner had done half a job very poorly then left without finishing up. Seat covers were left off the settee, dirty towels were left on the stairs and to cap it all the boiler wasn't working to mean no heating for the first night/evening. Where is one supposed top get logs for the fire at half ten at night!!!
I was recompensed with a bottle of fizz and mulled wine, oh great...

This is our third stay at Beech Cottage over the last couple of years. Comfortable cottage and great to have the hot tub and look up at the fells when in it! There are numerous walks from the front door and having the hotel/pub next door is a bonus for the odd night when you don’t want to cook. It was great to see the broken hot tub cover had been replaced which made it easier to lift on and off but would suggest moving the old one from down the side of the house at it is a bit of an eyesore!
