One of a handful of exclusive holiday homes set overlooking St Ives Bay, St la, 3 Castle Approach is just 3 minutes' drive from Porthminster Beach or a short stroll across the castle grounds. The harbour and town centre are 6 minutes by car making it exceptionally well-placed to enjoy at that St Ives and the coastline around the bay has to offer.

With plenty of space both inside and out, guests can look forward to beautiful bedrooms, gorgeous open plan living, an amply equipped kitchen and outdoor entertainment, with views towards the castle and sea. Fantastically well-equipped for families and groups of friends, there are entertainment features galore including TV’s with Freeview and Sky Glass, a games console, DVD player and Bluetooth speaker. The downstairs snug doubles as a children’s playroom so for those travelling with youngsters in tow, this is a terrific space for them to hang out.

Arranged over two floors with the lounge / dining area and kitchen upstairs and three of the four bedrooms on the ground floor, guests can relax and socialise in style and complete comfort. Two terraces, including a wraparound deck on the ground floor and a balcony upstairs, create wonderful places to enjoy unwinding in the sunshine, fresh air dining or simply spending time together with views over the extensive shared grounds, 9-hole golf course and down towards the bay.

St. Ives is an award-winning destination and it’s easy to see why. With its cobbled Downalong; independent shops, famous Tate art gallery, and fabulous restaurant scene there’s plenty to keep visitors of all ages entertained during their stay. The ace up its sleeve however is the abundance of sandy beaches on its doorstep, the most popular of which being Porthmeor, Porthminster and of course, the harbour where you can swim, sunbathe, SUP, surf and kayak to your heart’s content.

*Tregenna Castle lies within a short walk and offers a host of on-site features including a restaurant and brasserie, swimming pools, golf, a spa, tennis courts and children’s club. These facilities are independently offered by the Tregenna Castle site. Some restrictions and charges apply.

Expectations before we went away were very high from all the reading and research we had undertaken, and expectations were well and truly exceeded.
A superb holiday rental in every conceivable way, with all holiday needs more than adequately catered for.
St Ia is up there with the very best UK rentals we have stayed in

We chose this property as it was positioned within walking distance of St Ives and it had secure/off-road parking facilities. The Tregenna estate is well maintained and although we stayed right at the end of the summer, there is normally a choice of facilities to enjoy although there are limitations as to what lodge guests can use. Like a number of properties we looked at, accommodation arrangements are upside down - the bedrooms are on the ground floor and the lounge/diner/kitchen upstairs in order to make the most of the views. We found the lodge spacious (2 double bedrooms, both with en-suites, a twin room with access to the "house" bathroom and a single room upstairs which has the benefit of a wash handbasin and toilet), very clean and well presented with outdoor seating both at ground level and on the first floor. The surroundings are very quiet and peaceful.
We did enjoy our stay but we found the mattresses on the beds too firm for our liking and the sofa upstairs was not comfortable and the sofa provided to watch the TV downstairs (it looked like it might open out to be a sofa-bed) was particularly uncomfortable. We would have expected better quality appointments for a property of this cost and quality. Other slight negatives during our stay were (i) laundry bags, presumably from the previous guests, were left on a bench on the front porch (presumably for collection by a laundry service) when we arrived and they were still there a week later when we left (ii) the wheelie bin provided was full from the previous guests (who had clearly made no attempt to re-cycle anything) and was not emptied during our stay (iii) on arrival we noticed a tile in one of the en-suites was coming away from the wall and tiles around it were loose which effectively made this shower un-useable (water ingress would have caused damage) during our stay (fortunately there was only 2 of us so not a problem but one wonders why the cleaners/property managers had not picked this up).

We had a wonderful week here. The house is beautiful - great layout, quality furnishings and well equipped kitchen for cooking. Really relaxing to chill out in the upstairs space. Balcony with views over the castle grounds and golf course to watch sunset in evening. There is a large lawn at the back of the houses where our teenagers enjoyed playing football. About a 20 minute walk down through the Castle grounds to Porthminster beach/ St Ives. Similar time to walk to Carbis Bay beach. Would really recommend walking on the coastal path round to Porthkidney Sands - amazing views and stunning quiet beach. Icing on the cake would have been to have been allowed to use the EV charger.

WOW, the house is simply stunning, the best we have ever stayed in. Perfect location. 5-7 mins walk down the path to Porthminister beach and coastal path for Carbis or St Ives centre. Set within Treganna castle grounds, the setting is beautiful. Beautiful gardens and views. Everything in the house is top quality and of the highest spec including Dyson fans! There is a communal green area at the back of the house which acts like a garden. Lovely space for the kids to run around. There is absolutely nothing to consider - BOOK! Great service and communication too. We would love to return.

Compared to the cramped towns of Cornwall like St. Ives, staying in this location was fantastic. Great views of the golf course, spacious and bright, and lots of room to breathe, park a car and enjoy the quiet. I visited slightly off-season (before Easter) so take that with a grain of salt but I couldn't fault the location. Most rooms had ensuites which was nice that everybody had their own bathroom. The bed mattresses could definitely be improved. All other furnishings we very comfortable but one spends 8 or so hours in a bed so when a property is labelled as "luxury" it should have mattresses that reflect that. These were all very hard. The morning wake-up conversation was all about how uncomfortable the sleep was. That was really the only downside of the property.

Hi Karl, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we are so glad to hear you found the location to be fantastic with good views of the golf course. Thank you for the kind words regarding the property being spacious and light. In regards to the mattresses we do find these to be of personal preference but I do apologise you did not enjoy them. Best wishes, The Luxury Coastal Team
