Located a mile from the nearest road in ancient woodland in Thetford, Norfolk, The Hartley Hut, is a romantic shepherd’s hut that exudes tranquillity, yet offers a host of luxuries including outdoor bathing, a bookable wood fired hot tub, a well-equipped kitchen and treatments from an on-site spa. Surrounded by forests and a nature reserve, Alpaca walks, karting, Banham Zoo, paintballing and picturesque walks, are just some of the thrilling activities nearby.

We arrived an couldn't reach anyone to provide help getting checked in. Lady was quite abrupt and didn't really feel welcome. Likewise when we asked for more logs for the hot tub our request was met with abruptness and we were told to wait until staff had tended to horses . We eventually went and got more wood ourselves from a different lady who was extremely friendly
The location was as we wanted but we expected an oven to be able to cook our meals but it was a microwave oven so couldn't make what we planned. We were happy with the hartley hut itself but the customer service and welcome let it down. This was not a cheap stay at over £450 for 2 nights so was rather disappointed in how we were treated

The place and people were lovely. The hut was looking a bit tired and needed a good clean. It said there were free toiletries to use but there was no shower gel or soap so I had to use hand wash. Which was no problem but I would have brought my own if I'd of known. On the web page it says about a hamper which was included but we never received it. It's such a beautiful place with so much potential but with a little tlc it could be wonderful. I would recommend it but warn my friends not to expect to much

We can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay here. The location is amazing, so peaceful and quiet and you really feel like you are getting away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The hut was very well appointed with everything we needed, and the outside bath and kitchen were nice touches that enabled us to stay outside as much as possible. We enjoyed cooking the contents of the BBQ Retreat Box that was waiting for us when we arrived on the fire pit. We will definitely return.
