Wonderful place, comfy beds, hot tub was great especially on the chiller nights, log fire making it feel warm and cosy, games room well equipped, pool table, dart board, table tennis, massive TV,, tout side the lodge you have crazy golf course, the grounds to the property nice and tidy, the whole place is beautiful, short drive to local town machynlleth another pretty place, well worth holiday stay.

There was so much to love about our stay in Careiau Esgid:

The setting and site - probably my fave aspect. The property has stunning views, nestled on the edge of Eryri National Park (Snowdonia) and there are fantastic facilities (shared with one other cottage on-site), which we made the most of. We particularly enjoyed the swimming pool, hot tub, and garden where we played badminton and football. My youngest (5) liked the playhouse, my older two (8 and 10) enjoyed pool and table tennis in the games room. The grounds are really well-maintained. The laundry room is really conveniently located to Careiau Esgid, as there is a shortcut to the games/laundry room direct from the property. I even enjoyed seeing the odd military aircraft flying overhead, as they fly low!

I really appreciated the additional touches to use and enjoy the property: water guns by the pool, golf clubs and balls, bluetooth speakers, welcome pack including chocolate, and more.

The pool size and depth was perfect for our swimming abilities and lovely when the sun came out, it I felt we were at our own private resort overseas! The water temp was very good despite being outdoor and warmer than some indoor pools we've used at other cottages. The hot tub was very soothing after a swim, from which you could soak up the amazing views I've mentioned.

The owners were very welcoming. Paul encouraged us to use all the facilities and resources while Karen spoke to me at length to resolve electricity supply issues (this was only a temporary interruption, likely caused by a storm the previous night) and how to use the facilities. I felt they were genuine in wanting us to completely enjoy our holiday. Katie, managing the property, was also very responsive, including late in the evening and over the weekend. She sourced some charcoal at short notice for us prior to our stay for the barbecue.

The property is in close proximity to spectacular walks. I'd thoroughly recommend Tan Y Coed, Dolgoch Falls, the Cader Idris Gorge Climb, the Panoramic View at Barmouth, and Rhaeadr Ddu and Coed Ganllwyd, which are sufficiently waymarked or clear to walk. We also enjoyed family friendly outings to the Silver Mountain Experience (a fantasy-themed actor-led tour of the grounds and mines a bit further afield from the property), King Arthur's Labyrinth (very well curated and presented) and Barmouth Beach.

An amazing experience I'd thoroughly recommend to all!

This was our 5th visit to this beautiful part of the world and it is still as enjoyable as the first. We have 2 very active young children and so having such amazing facilities on site means they are always busy even when we’re not out enjoying all that wales has to offer. The fact we’ve retuned year on year speaks volumes - we’ll be back again too I’m sure!

What a fabulous lodge this is. It’s truly a home from home. The owners have thought of everything that you could need. We have stayed in the cottage several times and the lodge certainly matches the quality and comfort. There is no need to leave this place as having access to the shared games room, crazy golf and pool is a bonus especially if you have kids. Adults can also enjoy their own hot tub. You may even catch a glimpse of the planes flying the Mach loop. You’ll hear them before seeing them! There is only one negative: you’ll never want to leave. We will certainly be booking again 5⭐️

Can’t recommend this lodge as it has everything you need for a cozy and peaceful getaway- the log burner was a real highlight for me. The location ensures a slower pace of life but still with plenty to get stuck into. I’d recommend the Torrent Walk or Cadair Idris peaks followed by some time in the hot tub.

I loved my stay at Careiau Esgid Lodge.The property was located in a perfect place to enjoy Machynlleth,Dolgellau and a visit to Aberystwyth.As I was there for 4 nights I only done one of the recommended walks/hikes.The information given at the property was comprehensive and informative and you could easily fill your days with walking.The property is well equipped and welcoming. I had the best sleep ever.Big bonus is the Mach loop,very exciting.Would absolutely love to have another holiday there.Thankyou

Feel very lucky to have found such an amazing place to holiday. We have 2 young and lively children so the on-site amenities are very necessary! The location is superb with lakes, beaches, mountains and walks within striking of the cottage. If you like military planes then this is an awesome spot to see them -
It is literally on the Mach loop!! The fact that this was our fourth visit really does speak volumes about the place. We booked along with friends who have the other accommodation on site and it works beautifully. Very likely we’ll be returning for year 5 in 2024!

This was 2nd time for us to stay this rodge. It was comfortable as we expected.
Weather was not nice but we could swim and enjoyed whole week.
We will be back again.

A really lovely lodge set in well maintained grounds. The owners have thought of everything to make our stay comfortable. Towels are provided both for the pool and bathroom which were excellent quality . The pool is heated and very welcoming even on a grey and rainy day . There is a lovely 18 hole mini golf course just outside the lodge and a games room which we used on rainy days . The lodge has a-log burner with wood provided for chilly days and there is a lovely hot tub just outside the doors of the lodge . If I could make one recommendation , it would be to have a cover surrounding the hot tub . I would recommend this lodge to everybody . We had a lovely relaxing holiday and are hoping to return next year

Our second year in a row at Careiau Esgid Lodge and a thoroughly enjoyable family holiday again. It might be in quite a remote location but as long as you're willing to do a bit of travelling there's plenty to do and see. From the beautiful seaside towns of Aberdyfi and Barmouth to the charming little towns of Bets Y Coed and Blaenau further afield. The lodge itself is very cosy and has all your home comforts and the added bonus of the outdoor heated pool and games room keep everyone entertained even when the weather isn't the best. All in all a fantastic place to enjoy a family holiday and couldn't recommend more.

A perfect long or short break for all the comforts and entertainment a family needs. We really enjoyed our time. Plenty of places to visit and activities to do around but also a comfortable place just to rest with family.
We will definitely treasure the memories from this holiday.

The views and the opportunities to play in the pool make this place so special. Plenty to keep teenager’s occupied with the games room. Fabulous! Met the grounds man on the last day and he was super chatty and friendly too.

Everything about our stay was superb. The lodge was perfect for the four of us and we thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub, games room and golf. Plenty of things to do in the vicinity. Would 100% return.
