An adorable cottage with a log burner renovated to a high standard in a heavenly village straddling the River Stour that runs through glorious rolling Constable countryside.

I had a lovely few week’s at Constable Lodge. It really was a perfect cottage in a perfect spot.

Great position in outskirts of friendly village of Nayland. Lovely walks and pubs (one walking distance - all documented in beautifully informative and extensive folder). The Mill St Deli was awesome - sourdough a must, sausage rolls are divine and basic groceries incl toothbrushes are reasonably priced.

Everything in the house and garden worked brilliantly. I especially liked the automatic lights in bathroom and plug in auto nightlight in hall. Garden perfect for when my dog needed to have a nighttime tiddle. The log burner was the highlight for me. Hearing owls, flocks of geese flying over and deer barking.

The owner I briefly met and he shared the thoughtful refurb journey. It really has been finished to a high standard. The kitchen compact but gorgeous. Not room for more than two people. Charlie from idyllic cottages was efficient and prompt to get back to me. He was spot on with everything admin related. Only one thing which isn’t really a complaint - I did not have notice the window cleaner was coming but it didn’t matter as he was lovely too!! Can’t complain about clean windows!! Perfect for a short break in a beautiful village.

Constable Cottage has been renovated to a high standard and well equipped and very comfortable. We have stayed in many cottages around the country and this is now one of our favourites. Ideal for 2 adults with a dog friendly garden back and front. We enjoyed al fresco dinners in the back garden most evenings. It is ideally located for walks around the charming village of Nayland. Fabulous dog walking from the cottage in several directions on good grassy paths and wide open spaces where it was safe for dogs to run free off the lead. The local deli is great for brunch and the gorgeous riverside Anchor Inn serves excellent food -both within a short walk from the cottage. We actually stayed 8 nights having booked some through Airbnb and some direct which made the stay perhaps more expensive than it needed to be. Parking is on the road and tight but there is space off road very close by. Booking direct with Charlie at Idyllic Cottages was easy and his website is excellent. Charlie was always on hand and responsive. The Cottage Owner Peter was also quick to respond to the only small issue we had during our stay. We will certainly return when we visit Suffolk again.

Lovely property within walking distance of local amenities and nearby attractions. The cottage was exactly as described and felt very homely. Nayland itself was a great place to stay with plenty of good walks in the vicinity. Charlie from Idyllic was most helpful when I was making our booking.

We had an excellent week in Constable Lodge.
We have stayed a couple of times before and it felt like coming home - particularly helpful as sadly we had come down for a funeral.
Comfortable seating in lounge, and comfy beds. Small but very well equipped kitchen with a large fridge freezer. Good shower as well as a bath. Great little garden area at the back for sitting/eating out when the weather allows (we were lucky).
Overall, a really sympathetically and tastefully restored cottage in a lovely village.

Although the cottage itself is very pleasant I was disappointed at its location on a fairly busy road and with no off road parking. It wasn’t very relaxing.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Constable Cottage. It was very clean, well equipped and comfortable. It had everything we needed for a very pleasant stay. My partner loved it and was very happy with my choice for a long weekend break.

The weather wasn't great when we was there but that didn't stop us from enjoying our time there.

We really enjoyed our stay at Constable Lodge. The cottage, although small, is well proportioned and comfortable, and we enjoyed sitting in the garden during the nice weather. The welcome pack was appreciated. Parking was never a problem, and a lovely pub by the river, The Anchor, and an excellent deli, were within easy walking distance.

We had a very relaxing week at Constable Lodge. The cottage is light, comfortable and tastefully furnished. We loved listening to all the birdsong in the garden. Nayland village is very friendly and full of picturesque houses. We explored the Essex /Suffolk border area and particularly liked Dedham and Flatford Mill.

The cottage is beautiful. We appreciated all the little welcoming touches
We can see that it’s been renovated to a really high standard - all new appliances beautiful decor and lovely little finishing touches and a great location. I enjoyed exploring the village of Nayland and watching the world go by walking along the river paths of the River Stour with my little dog
