Beautiful barn conversion in the grounds of a John Constable painted house with its own family sized swimming pool for exclusive guest use.

We stayed for 12 nights with 2 adults and 2 children aged 4 and 5. We loved the barn and the owners helped to make the stay a delight.

The swimming pool was well used and helped to keep it children entertained. It's a beautiful area and we would not hesitate to return in the future.

We had a lovely week at Yew Tree Barn. The property, while being in the owners garden, is totally secluded behind private gates and the village of Higham is out in the countryside but still only a short drive to Ipswich and Hadleigh.
Although we didn't see Nina and Roger during the week they left us a lovely welcome note and basket which we really appreciated. Knowing they were next door if we had any issues gave us peace of mind. The barn accommodation is spacious and the kitchen, while on the smaller side, is fully kitted out and we cooked up a storm every night. I loved looking out onto the gorgeous garden and watching the wildlife out there of an evening. Lots of bunnies and even a duck when it was raining!

There are no pubs or shops in Higham, which suited us fine. We were also able to do a couple of walks from the property and got as far as Dedham on one and Nayland on another. We chose this property due to its proximity to The Essex Way which I have been walking bits of for a couple of years. I was stuck in the middle and during the week we managed to complete Dedham to Wakes Colne in a number of loops. Nowhere is far from Higham but the roads are windy and can be narrow - we had great fun splashing through puddles in the car.
The Colne and Dedham vales are a beautiful part of the Essex countryside and I would highly recommend visiting and staying at Yew Tree Barn. We would recommend The Royal Bengal in Hadleigh for a curry (we grabbed a takeaway from there the night we arrived).
