What a delightful cottage! We had a wonderful and relaxing stay and although the temperature was at times below freezing outside, it was warm and cosy inside. The cottage is beautifully appointed and equipped with everything that we needed for our week's stay. Although we didn't do much cooking, the kitchen is very well equipped and everything was very clean. In fact all areas were spotlessly clean. Higham is a quiet area with very little light pollution and when the sky is clear at night which was the case on several nights during our stay, the vast expanse of dark sky swarming with bright...more
We had a lovely break here and so comfortable. It was so peaceful and allowed us to recharge. Thank you for a great break.
This is our second stay in this beautiful Yurt. The decoration and furnishings are outstanding, everything is pristine with quality bed linen and towels. The yurt is totally private for a romantic escape. Everything is provided to cook a meal in the kitchen or cook on the BBQ, super outdoor furniture and a small fire pit to light in the evening. The shower is superb with plenty of hot water. There a a few local pubs within a short drive if you wish to venture out. Many thanks again Charlie for a wonderful stay and hope to book again!
What a lovely cottage! It was comfortable and clean. The hosts were very helpful and accessible which made everything go smoothly. The location was central but quiet and having horses near was an added bonus. The local pub, The Queens Head, was delightful and the publican Steve made us feel like locals.
We were very comfortable in your cottage, and found everything we needed for our stay. We explored the surrounding countryside and little villages loved some of the delightful houses in the area, the weather was even better than we expected as it was late in the season thank you very much.
Lovely interior designed loft overlooking a wonderfully rambling garden. Hosts were very friendly and encouraged us to roam anywhere we liked.
The cottage was excellent - it was very comfortable, with every convenience that I required and was located in a lovely environment
Warm, welcoming and superbly equipped, we had a brilliant stay here and loved everything about the Stables. Highly recommend it: a first rate property in a delightful quiet position.
Great position in outskirts of friendly village of Nayland. Lovely walks and pubs (one walking distance - all documented in beautifully informative and extensive folder). The Mill St Deli was awesome - sourdough a must, sausage rolls are divine and basic groceries incl toothbrushes are reasonably priced. Everything in the house and garden worked brilliantly. I especially liked the automatic lights in bathroom and plug in auto nightlight in hall. Garden perfect for when my dog needed to have a nighttime tiddle. The log burner was the highlight for me. Hearing owls, flocks of geese fl...more
We stayed at The Old Mill in November. As we live in a wood, the remote location suited us, well away from stress and noise. Everything from the warm cosy comfort of the property to the Heron's daily visit, the sheep in the field, swans on the pond, multiple pheasants, Kingfishers, Muntjac Deer and even a curious Peacock, all added to our delightful time. On holiday I love to cook and the kitchen held everything we needed, except a knife sharpener, which we bought and, quite happily left for future visitors ! Holidaying late in the year can be off-putting, weather-wise, but the Mill was wonder...more
The Hayloft is extremely well presented, with a blend of the old, retro, new features and decor. The location is perfect for walks, sightseeing and discovering the local history. What made it extra special for me was the fact that i am a massive fan of the Lovejoy TV series from days gone past. to be able to stay in his workshop, in the grounds of Belchamp / Felsham Hall, was a dream come true. Would highly recommend a stay there. Thank you for making it part of a perfect experience.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dukes Lodge. Cottage is well appointed, well equipped and very comfortable. Would thoroughly recommend the Kersey Bell in the village of Kersey for lunch or dinner. Owners and Idyllic Cottages were professional and easily reachable. Would highly recommend the cottage and the organization. KW
Well situated and quiet. The cottage was comfortable and warm; with generous well functioning central heating and hot water. It was immaculate. We found the bedrooms to be of good size with ample clothes storage space, and quality linen, ample pillows and scatter cushions with throws. The beds as singles or king was a plus. For the bathrooms there was the option of a bath (not in the description) or shower. Good size towels, Often these can be ridiculously small. The extra downstairs toilet was convenient. Mostly the toilet roll supply is stingy in rentals, but NOT here. The little things m...more
Nice cosy farm cottages in fantastic rural Suffolk surroundings close by golf, pubs & not far from Colchester & seaside.
A charming and well furnished cottage. Perfect for a peaceful and relaxing get away. Although the cottage is a little tired in some areas it does not detract from the the tasteful and comfortable sofas, bed and dining area. The kitchen is well equipped and a pleasure to cook in. Hollow trees farm shop, near Hadleigh, is a must for foodies. The owners were were friendly but not intrusive.
The Tea Caddy is the sort of place to stay when you crave some time away from it all. This is a beautiful piece of architecture. Nicely tucked away in the Suffolk countryside it comprises all you would need for a comfortable stay. The bathrooms are new and of good quality, the beds are comfy and the kitchen well stocked. If there was one thing that needs a rethink it's the sofas in the living room, they are somewhat hard to sit on, a coffee table would also not go amiss.

We had a wonderful time at The Tryst and it was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The house was lovely and warm, the beds were very comfortable and it was great to be able to stay in a historic building that has been set up to cater for all the convenience of modern life. We really appreciated the fact that the owner made the barbecue available so that we could barbecue the Christmas turkey! Pippa, the owner, responded extremely quickly to any queries we had.
Tasteful conversion to comfortable spacious 2 bed, 2 bathroom accommodation. Top quality kitchen and bathrooms. Characterful throughout. Rural, peaceful location but only a relatively short drive to villages and towns with amenities. Thoughtful basket of treats. All round highly commended.
• The owners left us a welcome package of apple juice, bread, biscuits and eggs. All very welcome, especially the apple juice which, although looking challenging, was total nectar! • Yew Tree Barn is very well located for the “Constable Country” of Stoke-by-Nayland / Flatford / Dedham / East Bergholt etc. • Yew Tree Barn (YTB) is spacious, beautifully appointed and well equipped. Many places we stay are pretty but clearly have not considered that, having unpacked, you need to leave the suitcases / boxes and bags somewhere. This does not apply to YTB. We used the second bedroom but there w...more
Enjoyed our stay at Orchard Coach House. No problems whatsoever. Would definitely recommend it, very relaxing few days. Nice routes around the area for dog walking. Would recommend the black lion at Long Melton for a good meal. Second time using idyllic cottages website and would book again.
Fantastic location and comfortable base for us and the two dogs. Good clear walking and friendly local pubs. Ground source heating was brilliant and the Pump House was always warm to return to. It was a very easy and relaxing place to stay
