Boxsteddle Barn is a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage. Formerly a milking parlour, it has been carefully converted to retain much of its original features whilst also having all the modern conveniences for a comfortable stay.

My husband and I stayed in Boxsteddle for a week. We arrived to a very clean and modernised barn, with all mod cons, microwave, washing machine, full sized ovens and fridge freezers, etc. Our first impression was that of how new and fresh everything looked - the colour scheme is very elegant and relaxing.

The boxsteddle barn is part of a collection of beautifully landscaped and converted farm buildings in a once farmyard which is in the middle of the village (hamlet) of Ramsdean. Its 5 mins to the A3, but you can't hear it. They have carefully and sympathetically converted the yard so that you have ground floor easy access to all places if you have limited mobility, it would have been perfect for my elderly parents who can cope with a couple of steps only on the ground floor...walk in showers and double doors that open to your own patio area,

Our pugs walked for miles right from the doorstep, one day we went on a walk to East Dean from BHB, all easy paths, no roads and such fabulous countryside. East Dean has two pubs and shop.. We ate at The George twice, great pub food, lovely staff and good service. We walked from the house to Butser Hill, climbed to the top and we could see the Isle of Wight! Really recommend you try that one.

Pubs:
West Dean (8 mins by car)- Thomas Lord... open fires, great food, expansive menu and open seating in the gardens at the back.
East Dean (5 mins by car or walk there) - The George .... open fires, amazing fish and chips! and great service
Hawkley - (15 mins by car) - Hawkley Inn.... walkers pub, lots of locals to chat to and great food

Petersfield (10 mins) has M&S, Waitrose and Tesco's so plenty of choice with a lovely market square and farm shops on the edge, sky park farm is ideal for anyone with children.

Alresford (15 mins) quaint small village with the steam railway (watercress line) and lots of cafes, farm shops, nice eateries and walks by the shallows of the watercress streams

Ramsdean is quiet, more cows on the road changing fields than cars!

All in all, a fabulous stay in a large spacious barn - so much space for a two bedroomed place.. Thanks for a memorable break. We will be back and tell all our friends

We had a lovely stay at the barns the one we stayed in was light and airy. The beds were like sleeping on clouds they were so comfortable. very peaceful surroundings only 30 mins from the coast and 4 miles from petersfield for shopping food etc. thoroughly enjoyed every minute.

Easy to book online although despite this, we still managed to put the wrong dates in! A quick phone call to Rob was enough to sort it all out without any issue.
Boxsteddle Barn was a beautiful property and the location very peaceful. Quite a short drive to the nearest village of East Meon which has a pub and village shop, or the town of Petersfield with more shops and facilities. Quite a few nice walks from the property.
Standard of the property and cleanliness was very good. The shower in the upstairs bedroom lacked any gusto but was adequate. We also had to give the outside table and chairs a clean and brush to use them comfortably. Small points which didn't detract from our enjoyment of the property and environment.

We have stayed at the barns a few times now - we have dogs so it's great to find somewhere to stay where dogs are not a problem.

They are only 10 mins from the centre of Petersfield so convenient for all the supermarkets and other shops.

We've enjoyed our stay in this beautifully renovated barn in Hamshire. A quiet place offering all the facilities you need, high quality beds and wonderful surroundings. We made several hikes through the countryside, visited gardens and historical places in the neighbourhood and even a trip to London is not too much of a hassle. Though the appartement is quite expensive, we would certainly recommend this barn to other visitors!

We spent a couple of days at Barrow Hill Barns to get some creative space and to relax. Boxsteddle Barn is a beautifully spacious and cosy barn with everything you need to cook your own food and entertain yourselves. The host, Rob provides detailed walking trails with different length and difficulty of walk so you can decide what's right for you. We followed a couple and they were so helpful and meant we got to see the best parts of the area. The Seven Stars pub is a wander away and we had a tasty supper there one night. On arrival, Rob had recommended a local masseuse, Debra, who came to the barn and created a zen sanctuary to welcome us and set the tone for our break.
Rob was very helpful and communicative and responded to all my queries and requests (including for early check in).
This is a gorgeous and peaceful place to stay.
The only thing that was not so great was the building work going on just opposite the barn which meant that it was quite noisy to eat outside as the builders were very chatty (the noise can't be heard inside). This wasn't a huge problem as it was pretty rainy most of the time and we ate in the lovely kitchen, and it wouldn't deter us from staying again.

We absolutely love Barrowhill Barns! The location is simply stunning and the Barns are spotless, luxurious and have everything you need for a relaxing stay.

It felt like we were the only people there so quiet and peaceful, we will 100% be back.

The accommodation is excellent, spacious and comfortable, with everything you could need for a relaxing break. The area is beautiful.
Just a couple of very minor tweaks are needed and I do mean very minor, a shelf for toiletries in the bathroom, something to put your case on in the bedroom instead of the floor and more comfortable patio furniture, like all the other accommodation has to offer on site.
Perfect.

What an incredible place . Wonderful countryside location and barns beautifully restored. Perfect for rest and relaxation coupled with an abundance of walks from the doorstep.
The accommodation is high spec and attention to detail great. Luxurious mattress and bed linen adorn the beds .

This is the second time that we’ve stayed at the cottages. The cottages have always been incredibly clean and we have always thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We really liked the fact that they put up a Christmas tree over the Christmas period - it was a lovely touch. The outdoor dog wash is also very handy.

Absolutely Beautiful estate with some very tasteful build accommodations and converted buildings. Lists of open fields and walks.

A fantastic stay in a modern and beautiful barn. Beds were huge and really comfy, living space and kitchen perfect. Surrounded by gorgeous countryside and some wonderful walks straight from the barn. Rob was super helpful and responsive on emails. Definitely will be staying here again!

A beautiful old barn that has been tastefully renovated with high quality decor and kitchen equipment to provide a very comfortable stay. Fresh milk and apple juice left in fridge and a Nespresso machine with not just two or three spare coffee pods as most places seem to do, but a whole tray full of over 20 !
So good we stayed an extra night.
Highly recommend.

The cottage was incredible! Clean, warm (love the underfloor heating) and luxurious. The showers are excellent and the decor is very tasteful. There are great walks nearby and the countryside is beautiful. One of the best holiday homes I have ever been lucky enough to stay in.

My husband and I together with our daughter. visiting from Australia, thoroughly enjoyed our few days in Boxsteddle. The peaceful location of the Barrowhill Barns was perfect and with weather to match we were very lucky. We really were impressed with the thought that has gone into these self catering barns. Everything was of a high spec and we found it all very comfortable.
We would love to return in the future and would certainly recommend to our friends.

We hired 5 cottages in total. Arriving at the barns we were blown away at home beautiful they looked. All the cottages are in short walking distance from each other and perfect for a large group booking. The cottages were modern with that traditional charm. Fully stocked with everything we needed. They were clean and comfortable. Beautiful views of the local area! Thank your for a lovely stay!

Had a lovely stay at Barrow Hill Barns, a set of beautifully converted barns and new barn style cottages. This is great base for the Sussex countryside and near to very nice towns such as Petersfield and not too far from the coast such as West Wittering. We enjoyed it so much, we have booked again.

From the moment we arrived, my friend and I were so impressed with the Boxsteddle Barn. Everything was 5 star, from the kitchen equipment, the bedding and the furniture, to the information (including local walks) and consideration taken for our dogs! We are already planning our next stay.

Boxsteddle is a lovely airy 2 bedroom barn with lots of space, games provided when the weather is inclement but otherwise in lovely countryside. Bathrooms a little on the small side relatively speaking, but who lives in those...a lovely place to relax or be indulgent.

We came here to escape the madness that is Cornwall in summertime and definitely chose the right place. The barn itself was immaculately clean and well presented and had everything that we needed and more. There are some lovely walks right on the doorstep (bridleway adjacent to property) where we saw a group of deer - thankfully the dogs didn't spot them!

Petersfield is a short drive away as are several dog friendly attractions - we can recommend The Weald and Downland Living Museum and Old Winchester Hill. We also took the opportunity to go further afield and spent the day visiting The New Forest and Hurst Castle.
We were trying to come up with negatives in order to offer constructive criticism and the only thing that we could come up with was that we couldn't leave the patio doors open because the patio wasn't contained and therefore dog safe. Was that a big deal though? No, not at all.
Overall we would definitely recommend Barrow Hill Barns and would love to return.

We booked Boxsteddle Barn after we had deffered our holiday to Kefalonia for the second year due to COVID.
What an amazing find with absolutely everything we wanted, like home from home.
It was great to have en-suites to each bedroom, so that each couple had their own space.
The location was so peaceful but not too far to the local pubs and shops.
Rob went the extra mile on the first night as we were preparing a BBQ but didn't have any matches or a lighter to start the fire. I called and he was there to our rescue within no time at all.
Would definitely recommend a visit here!!

Fabulous place to stay. The place was immaculate and the beds really big and comfy. We will definitely be going back. 2 nights were not long enough. My only recommendation is a hook outside by the patio area where we can hook up the dog leads as one of our dogs couldn't be trusted to be left outside with out his lead on as the smell of cows was too strong for him. And also a bin to put our poo bags as this is a dog friendly stay.

We had a lovely time here, the cottage was lovely and very well situated. There are some really nice walks right outside the cottage and we took full advance of them. Rob was great, always on hand to help. Petersfield is about 3 miles away and is a nice little place with lots of shops to get what you need. Winchester is about 30 mins away, and is lovely but busy. We have been to Cornwall and Bude in the last 6 weeks but we both preferred staying here, no drama, very relaxing, not too busy and quiet, what else do you need.

We had a fantastic week at Boxsteddle. The barn is well laid out and has everything you need to feel at home away from home. The lockbox meant everything was very COVID-19 secure and felt pristine. We had some lovely walks in the fresh country air and can’t wait to come back again next year!

We stayed at Boxsteddle in early July, just as lockdown restrictions were being lifted in England; I honestly can't think of a nicer place to enjoy a 'change of scene'. The location is ideal, with Portsmouth, Chichester Harbour and the South Coast all within an easy drive. We spent our last day walking the ~9 miles around Thorney Island, which was lovely.

The property is beautiful; well equipped (we particularly enjoyed making use of the BBQ), extremely clean and felt very 'safe' in the current pandemic.

Rob and team at Barrow Hill Barns were fantastic. From the early days of the lockdown, Rob was proactively in touch to discuss options for our booking (previously scheduled for June), and was very responsive to help move us to new dates in July, once we knew a visit would be possible. Very professional & great customer service. The family were also quick to help when we discovered a flat battery in one of our cars when we came to leave on our last day.

All in all, we would thoroughly recommend Barrow Hill Barns and Boxsteddle Barn in particular. It was a lovely way to emerge from lockdown! We hope to be back again next year with the friends from Australia who were originally meant to be staying with us. We're sure they would love it.
