We had a lovely little stay at The Hide. It was just what we had desired. The outdoor bath tub was the highlight, especially as I am pregnant so a hot tub wouldn’t have been an option. The Hide is designed beautifully and its location is magical, waking up to the wildlife was our highlight!
Few points of consideration, we would have loved to of used the BBQ but no charcoal was provided and we were not pre-warned about that so couldn’t BBQ. Also some towel hooks outside by the bath tub would be great, maybe some fluffy robes would be an extra luxury. We would definitely recommend BHB and The Hide and hope to come back!

The clear highlight of The Hide is the location and view, which is so peaceful and tranquil it instantly relaxes you. However, it's easy to hang everything on a good location and miss the other details, which this definitely does not. They've set up a huge balcony with a roll top bath, quality and comfortable seating and near full length bifold doors to open the inside of The Hide to the outside. Everything felt quality and comfortable, with decent cooking facilities, a good shower, good internet and TV if you need to duck inside and nothing missing. We loved the couple of nights we spent there, easily able to pop out to Petersfield and other places for the day, and knowing we had a great place to come back to and watch the sunset. The bedroom did get pretty warm because we lucked out with fantastic weather, but with the blinds down and windows open it didn't take long to cool down. We just loved it, and they've managed to make it feel very private and peaceful, even with a couple of other properties nearby, there's complete privacy and no noise from them. Came away wishing we had more time, and thinking there's nothing we would change, which is very rare.

The Hide is bijou and cosy, has a gorgeous little kitchen with all the necessary bits. Leaving binoculars was a great touch and spotting a deer and a hare while enjoying a morning coffee was a highlight of the stay. As was the balcony bubble bath we enjoyed in the evening with a glass of prosecco! Although a bit more privacy on the left side of the cabin to enjoy the outdoor bath experience a bit more without feeling exposed, would be extra special. As would the addition of some small storage in the mezzanine bedroom. But overall a lovely stay.

We spent two nights at The Hide after two nights at Long Meadow, a cottage on the same property. Although smaller, The Hide was perfect for a cosy couples retreat, with a log fire and outside tub with amazing views across the South Downs and night sky. The property was clean and the mezzanine bed very comfortable. The skylight was a lovely touch to watch the stars and gently wake up to natural sunlight in the morning. We would definitely recommend Barrow Hill Barns and look forward to visiting again.

We spent 2 nights in the hide, from start to finish the weekend was perfect. The lodge itself has all amenities to cook as well some nice touches to make your stay that more enjoyable ie. milk , cookies, binoculars and my personal favourite the bath soak! We loved the views and how peaceful it was, certainly some lovely walks to idyllic towns and pubs. Rob the host was very accommodating and helpful. I would highly recommend barrow hill barns and will definitely book to stay here again in the future.

We had an amazing weekend stay at the hide in February. The accommodation was beautiful and spotlessly clean, the location was private and peaceful. Finding the location was easy and no problems using key box etc, all toiletries and basic items provided. Would 100% return.

Me and my partner loved our stay at the Hide. The most ideal location with an amazing view from the balcony where you can see lots of wildlife. No noise from from outside the cabin so if you’re looking for somewhere quiet to stay this is great. The hosts left a book with lots of walks to do and places to go which was very handy. The cabin itself had everything you could need with little touches like milk in the fridge and biscuits on the counter. Kitchen fully equipped and bathroom had great shower. Bed and sofa really comfortable too. Tv had netflix which was nice for the evenings. Host also let us check in earlier which was very helpful and very appreciated. The only criticism I would give is that the photos of the view from the cabin on the website does not do it justice at all. The view is amazing and not justified in the photos as I would say the view was one of our favourite parts of staying here.

A wonderful stay at the well equipped Hide, set in a beautiful secluded location. Only downsides, pillows weren't comfortable, the type of pillow that ends up in a v shape around you head so not much support. However biggest disappointment was the outside bath...there isn't nearly enough hot water to fill the bath up, it only fills it up about a quarter of the way before the hot water runs out, so your soaking in water that just about comes up past your hip. Big let down as this was what I was most looking forward to. Happened on both nights of our stay so it wasn't a one off. Should be replaced with a hot tub! But if you're not fussed about the bath, it's a fantastic place.

Great little cabin, very well equipped with all the basics you need + some nice little extras like the chocolate biscuits on arrival, nesspresso machine with capsules and olive oil for cooking etc. Basket of logs for the fire was also a nice touch.
Great walks directly from the cabin, but note to self when a walker times a walk at 4hrs, it will probably take me 6.
The local pub Seven Stars I think it is called serves good food and is a a busy pub, bit of a long walk at 45 mins, but a cab back was easy enough to arrange and cost about £8.
BBQ clean and tidy and I planned to use it extensively, however the British summer scuppered us and we ended up cooking stews in doors and lighting the log burner. Got to love England in July. Very good butchers at the Deer Farm, if you want to pick up some quality BBQ food.
Petersfield is about 10 mins in the car and Winchester about 30.
Would book again and think it would be equally as nice in Winter and Summer.

My boyfriend and I stayed for a couple of nights for his birthday. The trip was exactly what I was hoping for. The cabin was beautiful and the balcony, bath and view were amazing. It was so quiet, surrounded by nature with so many lovely walks. The surrounding farm, village and town are lovely with loads of pubs and restaurants nearby. The cabin had everything we needed and we had a great trip. Would highly recommend and would absolutely stay again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Hide at Barrow Hill Barns. The property is a very high spec with all neccesary kitchen equipment and bathroom toiletries. The whole process of booking, checking in & checking out was very smooth with Rob being very responsive and accommodating. A beautiful location with incredible views over the local countryside, a great choice for a peaceful break. We will definitely return in the future.

Everything about this retreat was perfect. Beautiful cabin with wonderful views. We did ask for some more loungy chairs for outside. Which were delivered in 10 mins with no problem. Cabin was fully equipped with everything you needed. Very clean and so nicely done up. Can not think of 1 negative.

The Hide is beautiful. The view is spectacular, the barn is of exceptionally high quality and well kitted out. The kitchen has all you need including a coffee machine, coffee, tea and milk. There’s a hair dryer. The woodburner is great. There are 2 other lodges next to the Hide, about 50 meters apart. We had a really nice time.

My partner & I had a wonderful stay at The Hide. As most know when the time comes to get out of the city for that much needed quick break, finding the perfect spot, not too far but far enough can be difficult. With all the choices available online choosing can get tiresome, then Barrow Hill Barns catches your eye and you wonder is this the place (for us it was the Tree House). If your one of the lucky ones it popped up on your radar quickly and there's availability right for you. Unfortunately for us the Tree House was full booked so we went with The Hide and weren't disappointed. You never know what quite to expect until you arrive at your destination, whether your booking will be a hit or a miss. For us it was definitely a hit. We wanted a little isolation, a place to be intimate with adequate privacy and we got it! We drove straight to the property, checked ourselves in and didn't have to deal with any of the usual front of house team on arrival. Everything we needed to know was provided by email, all pretty straight forward with contact details provided just in case. The Hide itself was clean, fully functional, very well kitted out across the property and to a cosy modern spec well maintained. Maybe not enough hot water to fill the huge bathtub on the terrace for a complete bath in February but I'm sure during the warmer months it's perfect. Nonetheless, we did have a bath with bubbles & a glass of bubbly and all was good lol. We took food with us but with all self catering trips you usually forget something or decide you want more. There is a really cute town 10min drive away (do not walk unless you're seriously up for it!) which has all you need food & drink wise, Waitrose, M&S, Lidle & more. There is a handyman on call if needed, really nice guy. We needed an extra big pot to cook lobster & more would for the log burner which he sorted for us. All in all we had a lovely experience and will be back for the Tree House at some point, highly recommended if this is the type of break your looking for.

The hide @ Barrow Hill Barns makes for an excellent get away. We travelled from London and found it instantly relaxing as soon as we arrived. The barn was recently cleaned and the view was idyllic.
Rob was very accommodating and replied instantly to our requests whilst we were there, with them resolved before we returned from our walk.
We will look at coming back.

The Hide at Barrow Hill Barns occupies a lovely secluded spot with stunning rural views over a woodland valley. It was very well very equipped with plates, mugs, kitchen equipment and even milk and biscuits, which were a nice touch. The log burner was well supplied with wood, the TV had access to Netflix, Amazon and other streaming sites and the welcome pack had a good list of local attractions and walks. Our only very small negative is that the upper floor has a max 6ft head height that goes down to a few feet at the walls, making it awkward for taller visitors to navigate getting into bed.

We ended up having a great time but we were surprised by lack of cleanliness upon arrival. There was dirt on the floor, hairs in the shower, traces on the bathroom sink, and the place was overrun with flies both dead and alive (I have pictures to substantiate). On top of that, there was tons of ash left in the stove and no newspaper was provided/ very little kindling. For £350 a weekend one expects the place to be clean!

Shorthorn is a stunning lodge. It has all the home comforts and beautiful views, which ensure a peaceful stay. Rob was easy to contact when I ran out of supplies for the log burner and dropped additional materials down the same day. The lodge was everything we wanted from a remote stay - the best of both worlds. The huge window felt like we were in nature and the warmth and glow from the log fire filled the space with cosiness. The lodge was nestled on a hill in the trees giving the feeling of being in the wild, yet with enough comforts of home to easily stay for days or weeks - the lodge came with a coffee machine, torch, binoculars, bubble bath, wood for the burner and cookies and milk! Our highlight was bathing outdoors under the porch in a bath full of bubbles sheltered from the rain.
