Masketts barn was perfect for our party of 10. We had the perfect layout of bedrooms, with two tucked away down the corridor downstairs and the other four on the upstairs landing. There was one master bathroom downstairs with the one shower, and then a toilet room upstairs and a separet toilet room with bathtub also upstairs. We had a fabulous time there, the kitchen was superb with the steps down to the extra couch area that looked across the garden and fields. The main living area was large with extra couches on the other side of the fire place. There were loads of games in the cabinets and a lovely fire place, and the ceiling high magnificent curtains really gave it a grand feel. The hot tub was a big bonus, along with being able to just walk out from the barn into the accompanying 200 acres. I'd definitely go back!

Masketts Barn was very clean and the owner was brilliant in letting us enter the property a couple of hours early. It was great having access to the woods, a hot tub and tennis court.

However we asked Bloom stays beforehand to find out if there tennis racquets and we were told there were not so we bought some. This was not true and there were some provided which was annoying.

The rooms were comfortable but the walls were extremely thin especially at the top of the barn. There was also one room which was above the water tank so we couldnt put the dishwasher on late at night as the noise was awful in the room and lasted a long time. We also put a ban on using the toilet late at night if possible!!

Although there were 3 toilets, there was only one shower and one bath so when the house is full and the weather was hot and everyone needed a shower it was tricky.

In August the barn is also very hot at night so we would recommend taking fans.

Finally we did see a mouse in the kitchen but the barn is in the countryside so to be expected.

We would recommend but gor a long weekend rather than a whole week and to be aware of all the issues above.

Arrived on a very hot weekend 2 fans and house is so stuffy paid over £2000 for 4 days . Garden unkept and 1 shower and 1 bath . Kitchen floor by cooker really greasy and mugs smelt of egg . Carpets in main area very worn . It’s terribly overpriced.

The barn itself is a lovely and beautiful space, the garden is lovely and as a base for a nearby wedding it served its purpose well. The character of the building is its biggest selling point, and for that it delivers. However, for a property sleeping 12, some of the practicalities fell noticeably short. The kitchen lacked a coffee machine and the fridge wasn't big enough to store food for a group of that size for more than a day or two. There was only one small bin in the kitchen with no guidance on whether recycling or additional bins were available elsewhere - a small thing, but when you're a large group you accumulate rubbish quickly. The bathroom situation was the biggest frustration. With one shower, one bath, and three toilets in the whole property (no ensuites) mornings were a real bottleneck. The 2 downstairs bedrooms use the toilet with the only shower by the kitchen area, so it was frequently occupied and just not ideal when 12 people need to shower. Cleanliness also left a bit to be desired on arrival, and the beds were on the uncomfortable side. With a bit of love on these basics, it should be a brilliant venue.

A group of friends and I stayed in Masketts Barn in June, and it was the most delightful stay. The owners had left a basket of gifts for us on arrival, including homemade pear juice that was delicious. It was clear that every detail had been considered. We had a wonderful weekend, sitting in the garden in the sunshine surrounded by beautiful fields. The rooms were clean and tidy, with comfortable beds and bedding. We had a small issue with the hot tub as it had accidentally been turned down, but Andrew kindly resolved the issue quickly. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone who's looking for somewhere to stay with a large group. You won't regret it! Thank you Andrew.

We had a wonderful, chilled weekend celebrating a couple of big birthdays. The open plan kitchen-diner and the patio were great for dinners and drinks. The living room with its roaring fire was perfect for a cosy evening. The hot tub and tennis court were a real hit. And the location is beautiful. We walked in the forest and had a fabulous morning hacking at the Ashdown Forest Riding Centre. The house would benefit from a second shower but with three loos and a bath we were fine.

We stayed at Masketts Barn at the end of June for 4 nights. The Barn is huge, with 6 good size bedrooms, a large kitchen which is well equipped and has a tall fridge and a 5 drawer freezer which is in the utility area. The kitchen table seats 10. The two gardens are huge, one is a walled garden and the other overlooks the fields. There were 6 loungers and 2 tables with around 14 or so chairs in the garden, overlooking the fields.

The one major issue we had (which I should have picked up on before booking) is that there is only 1 shower and there were 13 of us. I read it had 2 bathrooms when booking, but didn’t realise the second bathroom had a bath and no shower. The ceiling is very low over the bath and is difficult to get in and out, as you can’t stand up in the bath. We did manage with the one shower, but it wasn’t ideal and certainly would be no good if there were 13 women all wanting to shower before going out.

The other issue was it advertised a bbq. This was actually a small round charcoal bbq that would be fine for 3 or 4 people, but certainly not 13!! We had 2 bbq’s planned and luckily we managed to get one of our party who came later in the evening to bring our large gas bbq. I really do think that a BBQ should not be mentioned as it is very misleading and could have scuppered our dinner plans.

There were a few maintenance problems, one being the latch on the twin bedroom on the ground floor. It was broken so the door could not be kept shut, which meant it banged constantly all night.

Although there were a few niggles, the property is beautiful, the grounds are huge and open up onto some lovely walks and you definitely feel like you are in the countryside, no traffic noise at all, just beautiful views.

One thing to note is that the garden is not secure. There was a gate to the fields which is broken and doesn’t close and there is no gate up to the parking area, which then leads to the outside. We had our dog with us who had a fabulous time running out into the fields and back, but if you have a dog that hasn’t got good recall or is likely to wander off it might be a problem. The same goes for young children.

The Barn is well appointed and very comfortable for a large group. The walks, tennis court and the hot tub were enjoyed by the whole family from grandparents to grandchildren. We had a great time. A note of caution for parents of young children, the barn has steep stone steps in the kitchen and dining area, and from from the TV room to the lower bedrooms.

We had a wonderful stay at Masketts barn. We had a family get-together as our son was over from Australia so this was perfect for our needs. This beautiful barn was full of character, very spacious and very well equipped. The 200 acres of grounds and woodlands was a big bonus as with 3 dogs it was perfect for long walks. The tennis courts were well used and we had taken some outdoor games ourselves so all in all it was a perfect stay. I would highly recommend Masketts barn. Absolutely beautiful!
