The Mill House used to be the old flour mill when Fingals was a farm, built in a sheltered, sun-drenched valley close to the Dart river. It is now divided into two quirky, comfortable and quite unique apartments, the Lower and Upper Mill houses, each sleeping 6. Although they have different entrances and their own patios you could book both apartments for a larger party.

We used to live in The Mill House and loved its character. The Lower Mill is cosy but with an open feeling - the sitting room is through a lovely old brick archway (where the mill wheel used to be) and three steps down from the kitchen and dining area - the cook is still part of the family while busy in the kitchen! The double bedroom has doors to the patio and the large family bedroom has a double and two single beds. These rooms share a 'Jack and Jill' bathroom (shower over bath) and there is a utility room with washing machine and tumble drier and space for high chairs, luggage etc. There is a woodburning stove for chilly winter evenings and a private patio for eating al fresco in the warmer ones!

Wonderful relaxing experience

Have been coming to Fingals for over 30 years and always prefer to come here where you have all the conveniences and facilities but none of the fussiness of most hotels. Great for kids that want to enjoy the swimming pool and games room but also close to towns like Dartmouth and Totnes. Richard and Shelia, who run the place, are very hospitable and considerate.

We thoroughly enjoyed our five day stay at Fingals, with our Grandaughter 17, who loved the gym and swimming pool/sauna, Richard and Sheila were such lovely hosts, wish we could have spoken more to them, but they were always very busy , as we were entranced with the whole experience of staying at the lower mill, and would love to have known more of the history. The Mill was very cosy and comfortable, everything one needed, was provided in both kitchen and a super large t.v. in a lovely large lounge, the bedrooms were luxurious, and we slept very soundly, items left for us to eat, and drink, and in bathroom too, for our use, as well as a washing machine/dryer. The gardens were enjoyable, with statues and fantastic quirky objects, Fingals is a rare gem.I can not imagine anyone not enjoying staying there, it is unique, and we hope to return one day, to stay in one of the other buildings, that are there.

Have been coming to Fingals for years and loved by the family. It’s very homely but with all the amenities in full working order! Lots to do in the area and close to Dartmouth, but we just prefer to stay put and enjoy the facilities and wander locally.
