After extensive renovations this idyllic 3 bedroom whitewashed thatched cottage is available to rent. Only 60m from Crackington Haven beach this gorgeous family cottage sits in a stunning location just above the village, with jaw dropping views across the valley and out to sea – the perfect Cornish holiday retreat.

Fantastic location for a beach swim or barbeque or just a morning cup of tea by the sea. Love the outside hot shower after a swim too. The cottage is a squeeze for six people but we managed. Can only really have one person at a time in the kitchen. Outside seating is lovely for breakfast. It's a quirky historic cottage which is very homely, especially with the log burner in the evening. Nearby Cabin Cafe has lovely food and we used the bus from there to visit Boscastle and St Nectan's Glen. Oh and don't forget to sit on the wall opposite the pub for the beautiful sunsets.

We have stayed at Old Cottage for at least four holidays in August. The cottage is always clean and tidy. My only concern is the cooker and oven, which is getting quite old and in my opinion needs to be replaced. Apart from that, the cottage is adequate for short holidays.
It would be great if a washing line could be put up…..we managed to create one for the time we were there, but, not adequate for big towels and wet swimming gear etc
Having the use of the garage is a big plus!

The owner has now installed a new cooker, I do hope you will come and stay again. Many thanks for your feedback on Old Cottage, this is really helpful. We are pleased you had a lovely time. We have forwarded this onto the owner and will also let the caretaker know. It's very useful to get this feedback from guests so we can put this right and make the Cottage as comfortable as possible for our guests. We hope you will consider Old Cottage again, in the future.

Our second trip to 2 Old Cottages and we hope to be back! The location, just two minutes walk from beach or cliff-top trails, is gorgeous and the cottage is full of charm: thick stone walls, cool in the heat and cosy in the cold. The stairs are perilous so it’s not suitable for anyone with accessibility needs (hence 4 for comfort), and the kitchen is a little on the snug side if you like to cook (so a 3 for condition, although this is not a reflection on the maintenance of the property itself, just the old-fashioned cooker etc). We have stayed in many cottages and campsites in and around Crackington, and this is by far our favourite. If we could give extra stars for the outdoor shower, we would!

We booked Old Cottage due to the proximity to the beach and what a great find. We stayed mid Oct and the weather was superb. We surfed on the beach every day and played tennis at the most picturesque courts ever in the bay! Highly recommend taking your rackets, you get the key from the pub £4 per day. The pub is great with lovely food and beers and there is a local shop at the top of the village which sells everything you need for knocking up a meal. There is no point doing a big shop as the fridge and freezer are too small so a quick trip to the shop or eat at the pub, we alternated and it worked perfectly. The cottage is small but perfectly formed and we felt immediately at home. Body boards were provided but we brought a shop full of beach and sea fun with us. Our dog loved it and we went on long coastal walks and the beach is perfect at mid to low tide for chasing other dogs or balls. The parking isn't great but as was out of season we parked on the road outside, otherwise there is a complementary car park for the cottage a 3 min walk, which would have been ok, but a small inconvenience. There is a garage but you need a small car ! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Old cottage and were sad to leave so it comes highly recommended if you like old quirky thatched cottages close to the beach. The outside hot shower for your wet suits and kit is a great touch. There is limited outside space but a lovely sun trap at the front for teas, and G and T's ! a small vertical garden at the back but no need as the bay is where all the fun is!

The cottage was welcoming, clean and tidy. My wish is for a better cooker....this one has really seen better days! Apart from that it is an easy home to home place to stay.
The access to the washing line and lovely swing etc needs to be made safer....it has been like that for all the years we have stayed there, and every year I think that with minimal expense the steps could be made safer.....for young and old alike.
