If you’re looking to get thoroughly lost in thought, then escape to Tan Llan. Lying on the edge of the small village of Llanelltyd, Tan Llan dissolves into the gently sloping hillside. This handsome, grey-stoned country house shelters within fifteen acres of landscaped grounds. A riot of daffodils in spring, fourteen varieties sing as proudly as the Welsh Male Voice Choir, statesmanlike trees whisper accompanied by the last giggles of a winterbourne stream and the River Mawddach as it laughs by.

Tan Llan is a wonderful place for a multi-generational family get together. From the newest addition, three month old baby George to Great Granma Dawn - everyone felt cosseted and special for the week. The coach house was ideal for George and his parents who were able to do the things that babies like to do at 3am without disturbing the oldies in the main house - who definitely need all the sleep they can get. The gardens were a delight: we saw herons, kingfishers, woodpeckers and emperor dragonflies; some us paddled in the river; all of us ate out on the patio on the nights the weather allowed. The week flew by!

Another wonderful multi family holiday at Tan Llan and The Coach House. Perfect for all ages of children and adults alike. The house and gardens are simply stunning and the river at the back of the property offers both moments of reflection and adventure. We took our paddle board and enjoyed many hours on the river. The accommodation is beautifully appointed and, come rain or shine, you will be comfortable. We shared drinks on the terrace when the sun shone (however briefly!) and enjoyed a lovely cosy sit in front of the fire having arrived home soaked after a long walk. Being able to take our dog made the holiday for all of us. He definitely lived his best life. High recommended.

the only reason I haven't given 5's over the board is that in the coachhouse the log burner hadn't been emptied or the glass doors cleaned and there wer e dirty towels in the washer .Also in the main house the 2nd dishwasher wasnt fixed for 6 days which was a pain as there were 16 of us and we cooked a lot . The only thing missing were anti slip mats in the showers (there was only one )They were the onlly negative things ,the place was beautiful and all three generations enjoyed themselves . The children enjoyed playing in the river even though it was pretty cold and we adults just enjoyed the fact there was something for everyone . As it was Easter it was very difficult getting in anywhere to eat out but the kitcen is very well equipped and the slow cooker was a bonus .

An amazing stay at an amazing house.
We had a chance for a big group of friends and family to holiday together in a beautiful location.
The house itself is reason enough to go but with mountains and seaside at close hand a truly unforgettable time was had by all.

We had the luck to hit a lovely hot week and the house was perfect for eating outside every night. There was 16 of us and the house is very spacious and appointed to a high standard. There is quite a few steps so elderly may struggle around the house. The grounds are stunning and pleasure to hang out in. There is river frontage and we used the river to cool off. There is a foot path that leads to the river bridge which has some great swimming areas. We hiked Cedar Idris one day which is 10 mins away, amazing views and lots quieter than Snowdon. We went downhill mountain biking at Antur Stiniog 30 mins away, great morning, then zip ined in the afternoon again a great experience. Dolgellau is a pretty town and has everything you'd need, easy to bike to without hitting major roads. The Mawdach trail is an old railway line nearby that is now a path and leads all the way to Barmouth so a great trip to do on bikes and takes 45 mins to Barmouth. There is a pizza restaurant in the village walking distance which is excellent and would highly recommend and also the tapas bar in Dolgellau was a real treat. All in all a great house in a good position for exploring the Coast and Snowdonia.

The quality is excellent and it maintains the original feature of the house.

Huge inside and outside space. The furniture is a bit old and the bed is a bit soft. But I think this might be a personal choice.

After a deferral of two years due to covid restrictions, we finally got to stay at Tan Llan. The location could not have been bettered, with wonderful views and walks direct from the house. Both main house and coach house were spacious, clean, well-equipped and comfortable and we had a marvellous week of sunny weather (somewhat surprising in March!). The generous welcome basket of local produce was a nice surprise, as was the ready availability of dry, seasoned logs for the cosy open fire in the sitting room. Overall, we had a lovely week and would be happy to return.

This is an amazing house with spectacular and beautifully maintained grounds.
Due to very changeable weather the games room was a boon. We still managed to have a full day on the beach and another by the river at the bridge (5 minutes walk) and the tinies loved the Fairbourne train.
An issue in the main house due to 24 hours of torrential rain was dealt with promptly and resolved within the hour.
We would definitely recommend.

Where to begin? Tan Llan delivers on every front. A stunning property in beautiful surroundings appointed to the highest standard. We joined with another family and found the accommodation on offer perfectly met the needs of each family member. The children were spoilt for choice with acres of garden as their playground as well as a games room for wet days. The adults had lovely spaces to relax within and the grandest of terraces for evenings spent chatting together. The river was a magical find. We leave full of wonderful memories and thank Catch The Breeze for ensuring every part of planning our holiday was effortless.

A wonderful stay in a special place. Beautiful and private but so handy for beach and mountains. We had grandsons aged 8 and 10 and Nanny who is over 70 we all had a fantastic time.
We loved the Maddach trail and the new precipice walk but had beach days and played golf and had a ride on a steam train.
Would recommend Tan Llan to anyone wanting to visit a beautiful part of Snowdonia and have a luxurious pace to stay.
