We recently stayed in Barn cottage on the Wooladon estate l can not recommend this place more highly .
The luxurious cottage and its stunningly beautiful surroundings make it the most perfect retreat. We’ve stayed before and we will again.

We have just returned from a wonderful week staying at Barn Cottage. The cottage itself was immaculately presented, spacious and well- equipped, making our stay extremely comfortable. Having a hot tub was a bonus and it was well-used. The rural setting was beautiful and we loved being able to take our dog on walks straight from the front door. The location was fantastic for exploring both the north and south coast and we also made several visits to Strawberry Fields farm shop which was within walking distance and stocked an amazing range of gifts and produce . We would definitely recommend.

The cottage was blissfully quiet - with beautiful views across the valley. We spent hours relaxing in the garden and the hot tub watching the birds swooping about. There are great walks around the estate which were a little muddy in places even in the middle of summer so you might need wellies. The cottage has so much space and provided a relaxing home for us. We loved it.

Positives:
A lovely cottage, comfortable furniture and fabulous bed. It was great having the enclosed garden.
Liked the hot tub but some headrests loose
Immediate grounds beautiful but wider footpaths not well maintained and looked unkempt (e.g. the pontoon looked dangerous)
Negatives:
For a luxury cottage there were items you could have provided, that other cottages listed on Premier Cottages do provide:
Butter dish, Salad Bowl, fruit bowl, kitchen towel (paper).
No shower products (shampoo, conditioner) and shower soap only in one bathroom
No coffee
No BBQ (although to be fair it wasn't advertised as being available)
Also there were only two mismatched champagne flutes (for a cottage accommodating 4). There were loads of opened bags of ice cubes in the freezer which had to be removed. There was almost no washing machine liquid (not enough for a single load). No dishwasher salt and the machine was showing empty.
Compared with other similar cottages the welcome pack of goodies was, we thought a bit stingy. Others provide e.g. quality bread, fruit juice, wine, biscuits, quality coffee.

Very clean accommodation with all necessary kitchen equipment provided to enable you to cook if mot dining out. The hot tub was really appreciated by us all allowing us to relax and spend time together as a family. Being just a stroll from Strawberry Fields was a reason we chose the location and it was not a disappointment in any way... great breakfast and fab shop

Had a wonderful week at Barn Cottage, having stayed in the main house last year we knew we were in for a lovely holiday. This exceeded expectations, fantastic setting, plenty to do in the local area including great places to enjoy a meal. Very much enjoyed our success fishing for carp at the private lake with 6 pristine fish from 11lb to 16.5lb landed.

A great location and a lovely property. The Barn had a very nice kitchen and lounge and the bedrooms were a good size. The farm shop and restaurant nearby is excellent. Most of our sightseeing was within 40 minutes by car. A great place to stay.

We stayed for a week in May 2024. We were blessed with lovely sunshine all week. It was lovely to be located well "off the road" and could often only hear birds singing and we could see highland cattle, alpacas and sheep (with lots of lambs) from the cottage windows. All the rooms in Barn cottage are huge and the two bedrooms are are en suite. One of them has a roll top bath too. We particularly liked the hot tub. We will definitely return it's so quiet and peaceful

The Barn Cottage exceeded our expectations, it has obviously been converted to a very high standard, with beautiful luxurious fixtures and decor. The cottage was spotlessly clean, the garden very tidy and we were left some lovely treats from the farm shop.
Parking was directly outside the door, the garden was fully enclosed for the dogs and we were able to get a grocery delivery from Sainsbury's who found us no issue.
The kitchen was well equipped, but we also tried the local restaurants and can definitely recommend The Strawberry Fields restaurant for breakfast and lunch, and the Arundell Arms who do a fantastic steak! The weather was unfortunately not on our side, but we didn't let it stop us enjoying the hot tub every day, which was wonderful to relax in after our visits out and about.
We enjoyed the walks on the estate, it was so wonderful to have that on our doorstep and our dogs loved it too. The children enjoyed the Highland cattle who were right by our cottage and are such beautiful creatures.
We also visited Launceston Castle and Lydford Gorge which was spectacular. We would love to return when the weather is better, as there is so much to do in the area.
Thanks for a wonderful stay and for looking after us.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Barn cottage. The cottage was very clean and luxurious. On arrival our hot tub was not full and the lid had been left up. This was sorted after a phone call the next day. It meant that we lost an evenings use of the hot tub. In other properties that we have stayed at of this quality there has also a welcome pack. We walked to the farm shop with our dog which was lovely but were disappointed to find that we couldn’t sit any where undercover or he wasn’t aloud in the cafe. We didn’t see anyone though out are stay to check that everything was ok which would have been nice and something that we have been used to at other accommodation that we have stayed at of this standard. We did love it though but just felt that the hospitality could have been a bit better considering the price of the accommodation.

This is the second time we have stayed at barn cottage and it was just as good as the last time. The cottage was just as beautiful and kept spotless. We all had a lovely stay despite the other cottages being booked it was still lovely and peaceful.
My dogs loved to explore the estate and had a great time paddling in the river. We made good use of the farm shop and all the food we bought was amazing.
Hopefully be visiting again in the future.

The barn was spotlessly clean, warm, homely and inviting. The attention to detail is second to none. From the amazing welcome hamper, the beautifully decorated Christmas tree to the visit on Christmas eve from the host to make sure we had everything we needed for Christmas day.
It is evident the hosts genuinely want to get it right for their guests.
Our stay was magical! we would highly recommend staying at Wooladon and we will definitely stay again. Thank you.

We stayed at Barn Cottage and absolutely loved everything about it. The place is beautifully decorated, very clean and lots of space but still feeling cosy.
The dogs loved the walks around the estate and having a secure garden was great for us to be able to relax fully.
The farm shop was the best I've been to and had everything you needed for your stay. Loved the little gifts left for us, a real lovely touch.
We would love to stay again.

We absolutely loved our stay at Barn cottage! We are a family of 4 with two dogs, so finding a cottage with space for us all and a secure garden for the dogs was just perfect. Lovely walks from the door around the farm & up to Strawberry fields (delicious bread, scones, sausage rolls and quiche!!). The rooms were all really comfortable, the kitchen well equipped and the welcome scones, bread and milk were a lovely touch - the strawberry jam was a big hit with the kids!
The garden was lovely, beautiful views, fab hot tub and we loved having the sheep as neighbours and watching the swallows whizzing over our heads late afternoon.
It's a great location to explore the area - we went paddle boarding at Roadford Lake, Tree Trekking at Tamar Trails, Boscatle is only 30 mins away, beautiful dog friendly Sandymouth beach took us around 50 mins & lots of National Trust options too. We will be back again in the near future hopefully!

We found the cottage to be spotlessly clean and beautifully presented on arrival. It is spacious and pretty much everything you could need for a week away was provided. There was a welcome hamper of a cream tea - delicious! Small, but I hope constructive, comments more coat hangers would have been very useful. Also, it is personal preference I know, whilst the bed was lovely and large it was very firm, too firm for us and not particularly comfortable. The location of the property is perfect for exploring both Devon and Cornwall as it is located very close to the A30. Despite this the setting is idyllic, you can't hear any traffic at all, just sheep and birds - wonderful. The property's own farm shop is handy and well-stocked with everything from vegetables to their own prepared meals. Plus, there's a restaurant there too, which is great if you don't wish to cook. All in all 9 out 10.

Hired the Barn along with the Manor House for my children & grandchild to stay & is just as beautiful as the main house. Again the welcoming treats were a lovely thought & again the spec is very high end. They enjoyed the time spent here even though they were over the house with us most of the time. The grounds of the properties are beautiful with some fab walks. If your looking at the reviews I would say go for it in a heartbeat you won’t be disappointed, would defo go back

Absolutely blown away with the standard of this beautiful cottage - everything you could need is there (even fans provided as it was a very hot spell)
The setting is second to none and my son loved exploring on his bike - all the many routes around the house - the lake was a particular fave for us!
The views out of the bedroom windows were beautiful - beds and pillows very comfy - water pressure great - TV had all the things to make life easy for a parent when down time is required!
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will be booking again for next year!
Being able to walk to the strawberry fields restaurant was also a great bonus!
Thanks see you next year

Beautiful cottage, lovely setting. All fixtures and fittings are to a lovely standard. Location is idyllic and fees remote on a farm but is actually a few minutes from the main road to Launceston. As the property is close to the Devon/Cornwall border you can access day trips in both. Really enjoyed our second stay in this cottage and I’m sure we’ll be back (definitely if our 9 year old has anything to do with it!). The staff and owners are extremely friendly and check everything’s ok regularly.

Barn Cottage was such a delightful place to stay for a holiday that we will book again for next year. It is ideally situated for visits to both north and south Devon/Cornwall coasts, and Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor. The cottage was perfect for an extended weekend in the country but near the coast. Hot tub was fab after walking and cycling. We enjoyed the estate walks too. A stop off at our son in Tiverton before and after and a visit to Hestercombe gardens on the way made this a 6 day break. Lovely view from the south facing terrace. The house would be perfect for 2 couples sharing as the accommodation was well spaced out.Enclosed garden for children. We found the lounge a bit dark in the evening.

There are quiet river and woodland walks in the immediate vicinity yet the location also allows easy access to Bodmin, Dartmoor and beyond.

We had a lovely time. Such a nice cottage with the hot tub being the highlight. The owners explained that they had removed some of their normal furnishing but that suited us (no mountains of cushions everywhere!). Everyone was very friendly and helped explain the workings of items in the cottage (eg LED fireplace). One of us went running every day by the side of the river Tamar pithing the farm grounds so could run in Devon and see Cornwall! Recommended.

The Wooladon Estate is a great find. It is very easy to access from main roads but when you’re there it feels like a secluded haven. The cottages are right in the heart of the estate down private country lanes and situated with their own little courtyard and incredible views.
Barn Cottage is beautiful. Recently renovated to very high standards it is very spacious for 4 people with gorgeous finishing touches like original beams and a freestanding bath. The hot tub looking over the fields is beautifully placed and a real treat.
We had a lovely time at Barn Cottage despite lockdown limitations and dubious weather!! It’s within easy driving distance of both Devon and Cornwall sights or you can just chill out at the cottage or walk/bike around the estate.
The people who work at the estate are also lovely, Stephen who seems to do the day to day management at the cottages was extremely helpful and friendly and the owners were also lovely.
Highly recommend!!
