We have just recently returned from a perfect stay at Kingfisher Barn, Wooladon Estate. The Barn was extremely clean and well equipped. Wooladon Estate is in such a beautiful location. We went to St Ives, Newquay, Fistral Beach, Bude, Bideford, Westward Ho, Okehampton & Bodmin. The Barn is located within easy access to some wonderful areas. We travelled as a couple with our dog

This was our 2nd time here, it is a beautiful place, this year the weather let us down and we left earlier than we should due to constant rain, which unfortunately is out of our hands, Kingfisher Barn is a lovely, clean and bright place to stay and our Doggie, Barney feels at home here.

We enjoyed a 5day stay on our way to the south coast of Cornwall, and we visited National Trust properties and coastal villages that were within easy reach of Wooladon Estate. Our cottage was private and not overlooked. A short walk took us to the Strawberry Fields Farm Shop and Restaurant, which provided us with some different menu choices whilst away on holiday.

We had a lovely relaxing break at Kingfisher Barn with glorious weather which helped considerably. Plenty of local facilities including the superb Strawberry Fields Farm Shop which was a real treat to have on the doorstep. We dined at the Arundell Arms hotel in Lifton for Sunday lunch - excellent, as well as the Springer Spaniel a bit further away but well worth the trip. Easy runs to the Eden Project, Boscastle and Bude plus local National Trust properties.
The accommodation was fully equipped, all you could really need although others have mentioned that more crockery, especially mugs would be beneficial to save running the dishwasher half empty.
To sum up, a wonderful week and another great location to return to in the future.

Greeted by Shona the housekeeper which was a good start to our holiday, she was very helpful during our stay and on hand if needed. The cottage was clean, comfortable & an ideal size for two. There was a generous welcome of a cream tea, milk, bread, tea and prosecco to name but a few of our arrival goodies. We enjoyed the location, great walks on our doorstep, seeing all the highland cows and the spring lambs etc. Unfortunately, I have to say that I wouldn't stay in Kingfisher Barn again due to the noise from one of the cottages directly above the bedroom area, you could hear the occupants above, which was a real problem for two nights of our stay - we were in fact lucky that it was workmen staying over to do other jobs on the estate and they left after those 2 nights. If other guests had booked for the week it would have been 7 nights. This is a real shame as in all other respects it was as you would hope for it to be. My advice would be maybe choose one of the other cottages on the estate instead. I can recommend Strawberry Fields Farm Shop and made good use of the 10% off voucher that was part of our stay.

Beautiful surroundings. Cottage was cozy and very well equipped. Extra touches of scones, bread, jam, cream and milk was a wonderful surprise.
The 10% off strawberry fields was a great help we ate there a couple of times, very much enjoyed the food.

Amazing location, if you like peace and quiet this is the place for you! Staying on the estate gives you lots of opportunity for dog walks on your doorstep. Our Cockapoos loved it. The cottage itself is clean and modern and would definitely stay again. Adam and Laura the hosts left a welcome basket and nothing was too much for them.
Strawberry fields is a gem of a find, worth getting fresh products there.

Our stay at Kingfisher Barn was mostly positive. Comfortable bed, decent shower room with nice towels. Kitchen reasonably equipped. Good location with award winning farm shop up the road. A couple of nice places to eat in Lifton too.
Negatives: We found the sofa extremely uncomfortable, seen better days a good description. I think a comfy chair would also be a good addition.
The bedroom has a lack of storage and a few pegs, strategically placed, would be useful.
Lots of good things about staying here but replacing the sofa really should be a priority .

Third visit to the estate, first in Kingfisher Barn. Another lovely relaxing break in beautiful surroundings. The Barn was well equipped with everything thought of. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to visit the area and our dog,Bryn, just adores it. Good fishing during the week for my hubby, with many carp touching or just exceeding the 20lb mark and looking like wooden carvings, stunning fish.

Another fantastic stay! I have been visiting wooladon since I was a young boy, I have any fond memories there. It's changed management a few times over the years but it is still well managed and kept at a high standard. I this is my first stay in the kingfisher barn, very nicely done up with great features. The estate itself is lovely, beautiful surroundings with cows, sheep and lamas in the fields. There's plenty to do in athe local areas, we went to tintagal castle for a day and visited local towns. Had a wonderful time.

Kingfisher Barn is a super barn conversion in a collection of similar properties. We stayed as a couple with two dogs and this property was ideal for us as it has an enclosed courtyard. Bed was very comfortable and although storage was limited in bedroom we managed utilising deep windowsills. The kitchen was very well equipped and had everything you needed and more. Superb shower with plentiful hot water. The cleanliness on arrival was excellent and nothing at all to complain about except for the weather! The setting is very peaceful with lovely walks and the farm shop is amazing. We visited lots of resorts on the north coast so everyday involved a lot of driving but it’s central location is ideal for exploring.

A peaceful retreat in a glorious setting. One or two small extras would make a big difference. A few more items of crockery to enable economical use of the dishwasher. A pair of oven gloves. Not sure where the coffee machine had gone - instruction booklet available and visible in the photos.....

This is our second stay at Wooladon. The kingfisher barn was excellent ideal for myself and my wife. It is in an excellent location with easy access to the coastal towns. The farm shop and restaurant were also good and did a great breakfast. The staff there were very friendly. We will definitely be going back again.

It is located just off the A30 but we were surprised by how quiet and peaceful it was and the location was perfect for exploring the local area. Good points:
Great access to main road A30 no battling down single lane roads.
Kitchen facilities, tv, internet, bed comfort and shower room all excellent.
Not so good points:
Accommodation was cold on arrival. Thermostats were set low and it took 24 hours to reach a comfortable temperature. Could the thermostat be reset prior to the arrival of guests? Once a comfortable temperature was reached it remained good for all of the stay.
Absence of anywhere to hang or store clothes in the bedroom. The sole rack provided was small and low.
Bad point:
Noise. We were frequently woken by noise from the laminate floor upstairs. Was it a herd of elephants staying there? It spoilt an otherwise very good holiday. We’d be happy to return to the estate in future but NOT Kingfisher barn. We actually returned home a day early to ensure a quiet night.

I would highly recommend the Kingfisher Barn on the Wooladon Estate. I stayed here for a week with my two dogs and had the most amazing time. Cottage was clean and modern and the icing on the cake was the lovely food supplies that we found on our arrival. Great location for walks on the estate and having Strawberry Fields Farm shop just up the road, an added gem which was a great place to eat.

We stayed in Kingfisher Barn as a base over Christmas week for visiting family in Devon. The cottage is very spacious for two and was immaculately clean and very warm. Wooladon itself is a haven of peace and we did wander on the Estate (bring wellys!) It is quite a sight where the Tamar and the Lyd merge.
We stayed a couple of years ago when households couldn't mix indoors at Christmas and we so enjoyed it then that we used it again. Then we stayed in a larger cottage as the Kingfisher Barn is a new addition to the estate.
The property is well stocked and furnished, the addition of a decorated Christmas tree and a cream tea on arrival are very thoughtful touches.
My only very small criticism was very little hanging or storage space for clothes. There isn't anywhere obvious to have a wardrobe but a line of hooks on the bedroom wall to the right as you enter would be helpful - the coat hooks by the front entrance certainly were fully utilised.

We had a wonderful break a Wooladon. The location was ideal for Polperro and Fowey in the south as well as Bude in the north. Wooladon itself was fantastic for walking the dog in the estate acres. Also the close proximity to the farm shop and Lifton was great. Easy to recommend - 5 star

Wonderful situation on beautiful estate. The cottage was immaculately clean and was well equipped.
Lots of hot water and very warm inside. Heating is included in the rental and is provided by a sustainable energy source. Very environmentally friendly.
We don’t have a dog but it would be doggy paradise!

Kingfisher is very well equipped with a comfortable bed, efficient heating system, fantastic shower and fully fitted kitchen. We stayed at the end of September when the nights were drawing in with two quite energetic dogs, so the walking on the estate was perfect for us. The furniture is arranged differently from the photographs, so if you are not looking at the T.V. you are starring at the kitchen or the wall and whilst we were provided with some milk, scones and jam, there were no flowers. The cushions except for one were absent, so we found the sofa pretty uncomfortable. Given the high rating of this accommodation, the watered down hand soap in the bathroom was not really acceptable given the overall standard of this accommodation. Most self-catering accommodation these days provide facilities in line with comparable hotels and B & B’s so perhaps some nice hand soap would be appreciated. I had also taken my own hairdryer as I could not find anywhere on the website whether towels or a hairdryer was included. I raised a couple of issues via email but did not receive a reply, hence my low score for Customer Service.

Had a wonderful time, cottage is really lovely. Only one thing I would ask for as everything is provided and more, is maybe a second set of towels. By midweek it would be a great addition as the towels are really hard to dry in the summer as you have no heating on and we did not have great weather. Apart from that would recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing away from it all time. Loved the TV set up and that you provided so much, see you next year.

Kingfisher Barn is very well situated, with Dartmoor, the South West Coastal Path, beautiful National Trust estates and pretty Devon/Cornwall villages within easy reach for day trips. We much appreciated the Wooladon trails too and they were right outside the door. The cottage was always nice to come back to. It is perfectly sized for two for a week and is clean and well appointed. There is an outside space that we much enjoyed, where we could relax in the sunshine after a day's walk. Adam, one of the owners, visited on our first and last day. He was extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. We had not stayed at Wooladon before but have happy memories of our week there.

The barn has been decorated beautiful, it was very clean and had everything you need. Adam popped around just to check everything was okay at the beginning of our holiday and always waved and said hello if he saw you in the grounds. The cottages are perfectly placed for visiting Devon or Cornwall. Lots of interesting areas around and small beaches which don’t get too busy. Will definitely be returning

The accommodation had everything we required and it was very comfortable.
We explored during the day as it was very handy to get to the coast within 30-40 mins but with the luxury of coming away from the hustle and bustle.

Great location, quiet, easy to travel to coastal areas/ tourist attractions whilst escaping back to the quiet at the end of the day. Cottage is lovely, newly decorated/fitted with neat modern kitchen and bathroom. Constructive criticism; the garden is not enclosed as advertised, no gate to gap in fence, so my two dogs could not be let out off lead and we had to walk out onto woodland for them to wee. In heavy rain this was a nuisance with wiping wet/mud off them every time. Outdoor tap and hose would be useful. At night, the guests above our bedroom could be heard loudly walking around. My Labrador picked up a large screw with metal spikes from courtyard, fence looked newly fitted so left from that?..found it in his bed. Luckily not swallowed! Finally, a young man knocked twice to ask if all was ok. Once when I had nipped out to get food, he had seen me go out and knocked to check on my 12 year old daughter, she felt uncomfortable and I was a little annoyed that he had knocked knowing I wasn’t there. The second time was at 9.40pm at night which I thought was rather strange. Not sure who he was.
