Fabulous property in great location. Extremely well equipped kitchen and super comfortable beds. Only downside for us was there was only one bathroom for 3 couples as the other bathroom was downstairs in another bedroom. Also garden had to be accessed through downstairs bedroom which wasn’t particularly convenient with dogs.

Captains Keep was perfect for a family to spend time together and the cabin made it extra special, making perfect gooey marshmallows as a family was a real treat. Location was good and Lymington has a lot to offer. The kitchen is well equipped with all you need and the beds were super comfy. Great showers and heating was perfect. Christmas Tree was a lovely touch.

We had a family birthday weekend here and really enjoyed it. The house was really comfortable and well equipped. It’s so nice to have a kitchen with condiments, coffee, cling film etc. The BBQ building in the garden was really special. It’s in a great location and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

I booked Captains Keep as a weekend away with family + dog. The house itself was clean and comfortable with everything you could possibly need for a break away. It is a great location. My first time visiting Lymington. The cottage is in Lymington itself, but despite being next door to a pub was really quiet. There are shops and restaurants and bars just a few minutes walk away. Great location for exploring the New Forrest. Booking was easy and straightforward with the agency. Would definitely book again.

Lovely house in a great location. Perfect for a large family or group. Stairs are steep particularly to top floor though. Barbeque hut was lovely. Need to advise it is charcoal as we needed to go to shop to get matches and firelighters and not much charcoal provided. Otherwise we had a fab stay.

The house was lovely and had everything we needed - we felt at home here straight away. It was nice to have a garden we could all sit in together in the sun with good seating. More storage would be good in the downstairs and loft bedrooms. Although there is a pub next door it didn't bother us and we weren't disturbed by it. We went in the pub for a drink a couple of times and it was lovely with friendly staff. The downstairs bedroom and ensuite was exactly what we needed for my elderly parents. The location was perfect for us with no car and elderly parents with reduced mobility - close to the train station, bus stop, shops, cafes, pubs, the High Street and the Quay. We would love to come back and hope the house is still available as a holiday home next year as there are limited other houses with 4 bedrooms without bunk beds, with a downstairs bedroom and ensuite in a location as close to everything as this house. We couldn't have wished for anything more perfect for us as a family

Captains Keep is a very spacious and airy house, lots of room for 6 of us (3 generations), in Lymington, within easy walking distance of the High Street and the Quay. The house is modern and tastefully furnished, very clean when we arrived, although it could have done with a few less plastic plants/flowers on every available flat surface (e.g. the ensuite drawers, where a lamp would have been more useful to actually see to dry hair/do makeup etc). More hanging space could have been provided in the ensuite bedroom also, with a bit of thought. The kitchen was well-equipped, with coffee machine, large Smeg fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washing machine, although we couldn't find any scissors anywhere. The garden is sadly neglected, unmown lawn, weeds sprouting through the gravel and paving stones, bindweed taking over the shrubs, the patio area is stained and the flags could do with repointing, the garden table is falling apart, the Wendy House could do with a clean and lick of paint. The BBQ hut is a good idea for winter as it's okay as a fire pit but not much use as a BBQ (we did try it and gave up). We read in the Guest Book at least 3 comments about the sticking ensuite door (our granddaughter got stuck in there), but nothing had been done about it. We mended it ourselves with a squirt of WD40 and a small hammer. Also a lightbulb in the dining area was out, but only needed screwing back in properly - just general lack of maintenance. The street outside is very noisy, with the bus depot at the end of the street and it being used as a rat run. In spite of all this, we enjoyed our stay in Lymington which is a lovely base to enjoy the joys of the New Forest.

Captain’s Keep is a lovely, spacious house which gave my family all we needed for a home from home experience. Our group covered 3 generations – from grandparents to a 12 week old baby!
We particularly enjoyed the BBQ room at the bottom of the garden and the two year old thoroughly enjoyed conversations with the stone dogs in the garden and the freedom to explore the summerhouse. Instructions and further information about the house and surroundings were excellent.
The beds were very comfortable and the showers (both upstairs and on the ground floor) were very good. The tumble dryer & washing line were also really appreciated with small ones to keep clean.
However, we realised whilst we were there, that the house is on the market, and did feel that the house was presented as a showpiece rather than as a home. On a practical level, the iPad on the rack across the bath was frivolous (and too much of a responsibility with small children). There were too many cushions on the sofas which were of a fabric that did not suit the leather upholstery, so they wouldn’t stay put. Consequently, they were removed to the cupboard under the stairs (with the iPads). Similarly, there were a number of (plastic) plants throughout the house, which used up limited shelf space. The bedrooms on the first floor had ample storage, but the top floor and ground floor bedrooms both lacked anywhere to hang clothes.
However, given that the house was being sold, we were surprised that the garden was not in a better state: the grass needed cutting and there were plenty of weeds in the beds and growing through the gravel. We had a dog with us. The house rules were understandably specific about clearing up after your dog, but that isn’t easy when the grass is growing high!
Last grumbles: the handle to the ground floor bathroom is worn and likely to leave an occupant stranded within(!); we saw that previous visitors had mentioned this in the visitor’s book; also, there was a damp patch on the ceiling above the dining area. I felt that this should have been sealed and repainted before further lettings.

The house was very comfortable and much larger than expected, it was also spotless. There were nice touches such as coffee, tea and milk which is always welcome. The bedrooms were all a good size and very comfortable. The bedroom at the top was up steep stairs and wouldn't suit everyone, plus the bathroom was on the first floor. The BBQ cabin was great fun, the garden needed a bit of TLC and it wouldn't suit everyone being next to a pub - this didn't bother us but we weren't sitting in the garden. Lymington was lovely with lots of independent shops, restaurants and pubs.

A very enjoyable townhouse stay with a well fitted kitchen, a large living area, a lovely back garden and four great bedrooms with large & comfortable mattresses and bedding. We loved the location which was a very short walk to high street with many good restaurants and shops. With the train station located just down the road it is ideal for exploring the many exciting trails within New Forest and for travelling over to Yarmouth via ferry for a wonderful day trip, all of which we enjoyed during our week long stay. The area and town has interesting activities to enjoy, many within walking distance.

Stayed here for 3 nights with some family members as an extension of my mother’s birthday.

The house is fantastic. It’s clean, comfortable, spacious and incredibly user friendly indeed!

The location is great for access to the Quay, the high street and the town centre, Brockenhurst (and the Pig restaurant) is only a short drive away.

Access to the beautiful new forest is easy and local and is well worth one of the many gorgeous walks.

The only small note is parking. It is available at the property but you need a small car. That said, the station car park is a 20 second walk away and very good value.

Book here, stay here, enjoy it and tell everyone to do the same. Loved it.

This was a perfect place for the family to gather to celebrated my Mother's 100th birthday. She visited each day and we all enjoyed the comfort, spaces and location of this great house. It is super stylish and very well equipped with corners for children to play and adults to sit and chat. Lymington is a lovely town to explore as well as nearby walks along the coast. Parking worked out fine using cheap long-stay carparks nearby where needed.

Really enjoyed our stay. Well equipped kitchen and nice touches- pint of milk in the fridge, teabags on the side, ice in the freezer. Even had board games. Nice Smart tv. Towels were provided and plentiful. Lymington itself was lovely including the Ship Inn and the Bosun’s Chair next door. We sampled wine at the Cellars and had a really good lunch at the Tinker’s Granddaughter, which was a vegan cafe. Really near the station too - lots of connections at Brockenhurst. Parking is a bit tight if you have a larger vehicle but otherwise 10/10 all round

Beautifully presented and an enjoyable stay.
Two things - the lawn needed mowing and there is virtually no hanging space in the ground floor bedroom - a lot of "prettiness" but more storage needed!
