Family of 3 (18 month year old). The cottage is situated in a beautiful spot in the new forest, close to lovely walks / bike rides, pubs and Lymington / Southampton. There are wild horses practically on the doorstep and the cottage is also a very short distance from the coast. In terms of the cottage itself it was incredibly clean on arrival and is finished to an exceptionally high standard throughout (excellent bathroom, Meile kitchen appliances, comfy beds etc.). It was also very well equipped and the high chair provided was a premium brand. We loved the small, but pretty garden as well ...more
This is the 4th property we have rented in the New Forest with New Forest Escapes and although they are all excellent, this one was the best. Location is perfect, the house is incredibly comfortable and well equipped. We went with another family and we did a lot of cooking. We were all amazed about all the things in the kitchen, all so well thought out. The garden is lovely and relaxed. All the towels and bedding feel new and impeccable. They always have lovely touches, like cake and some basics (milk, oil....), and even a full jar of Nespresso capsules which we really enjoyed, rather than the...more
What a beautiful escape , a calm and peaceful feel to the property. Beautifully decorated with all the essentials needed to feel at home . Great location for both visited to the forest walls or strolling along by the sea . Hosts were incredibly welcoming & friendly . Highly recommend .
Stunning cottage with everything you could need including a lovely welcome package! The location is great and offers peace and quiet whilst also having everything you need close by. Would definitely recommend and will heading back for sure
We had such a fantastic weekend at Broombank celebrating my husbands birthday. The house is perfect for entertaining, no matter the age! Our group ranged from 3 - 81 and we all loved it. Thank you so much to James for being such a thoughtful and welcoming host. We adore coming to the New Forest, it is a very special place.
Odways is the perfect house for a family holiday. Nestled in the forest it is magical. We didn’t want to leave. We loved the roomy accommodation and found ourselves eating in more than usual on holiday as we just loved being there. The garden was perfect for our Granddaughter who loved fishing in the stream and bouncing on the Trampoline. The dogs enjoyed snuffling around and we all found a place to sit and read.
Nye Creek is a beautiful modern house in a perfect location in Keyhaven - some fantastic walks right from the front door, pub 2 minutes away, and only 15 minutes walk to Milford on Sea which has some lovely cafes, restaurants and shops (highly recommend Vervaine for lunch or dinner). Lymington is about a 15 minute drive or you can walk along the estuary - there's also a bike path. The kitchen is really well equipped with high end appliances (I was rather jealous of the oven in fact...), a big fridge/freezer and lots of plates, glasses etc. Ocado deliver to the area so no need to load the ...more
We loved our stay, beautiful barn, very tastefully furnished, stunning location and lovely friendly owners

We had a wonderful stay at Ploughmans Cottage. The house was very clean, and well set out for children and adults alike. We had 3 young kids with us, and there was so much for them to explore in the garden plus toys and the contents of the dressing up box, we could have just stayed in the house for the week and they would have been happy! The house and location looked even better than the pictures, the pub next door was really convenient and even offered to do us takeaway dinners when they had capacity, and the owners (who we met briefly when we arrived) were great and extremely helpful. There...more
Having just returned from short weekend break, we felt relaxed and fulfilled with this wonderful property. Would definitely return.
We had a great holiday with our young children here. It felt very homely and had everything we needed. The children had lots of fun on the trampoline and in the pool and we were able to wonder across the road to play in the forest too. Also a great location to explore the New Forest and local beaches not far away.
Slate cottage was perfect for our weekend away with friends. The six girls aged 6 months to 11 years immediately started playing with the amazing selection of toys and books in the annex when we arrived. The garden was lovely size for them to run around with our two dogs. We had lovely weather so we’re able to sit out in the rear garden for a bbq, the roof terrace for sundowners and the front garden for morning coffee. There was plenty of space for both families to enjoy. New Forest Escapes’ blog was very helpful for planning our first trip to gather as families to this area. We enjoye...more
I just wanted to say how incredibly helpful and attentive the team were in our booking and our stay. It felt like nothing was too much, and the team know the area so well and totally available to answer questions and helped our group have the best time! thank you! x
We had a lovely three-generation post lockdown stay at Ploughman’s Cottage and the Pig Shed. The location is beautiful, with walks from the doorstep and a great pub right next door, and a short drive to lots more amazing forest scenery and coastline. The mix of rooms and the separate pig shed worked perfectly for us. We all - especially the kids - loved the garden, and there were lots of toys, games and dressing up to play with.
We stayed 4 nights, but would have liked to stay longer. We walked everywhere, we did not need to use our cars. Hurst Castle and the wildlife were fabulous. The very short trip to the pub next door - the Gun- was a bonus. The food there was delicious. Also lots of places in Milford. The cottage was very well equipped, and the views from the master bedroom delightful.
Great location with good parking, a 3 or 4 minute walk to the sea front and a 20 minute walk into Milford with its excellent restaurants and bars. A great base for exploring the New Forest. The exterior of the property gives no clue to how well the interior has been overhauled, but step through the front door and the attention to detail of the interior is immediately apparent. Bright throughout, well decorated and modern. A well-appointed kitchen, comfortable lounge, sun room and a pretty, very useable little garden area with interesting planting. Master bedroom is cute with a tiny en-suite....more
The location of this property is perfect! The kitchen is brilliantly appointed meaning family meals were no hassle to prepare. Lounge was perfect for kicking back and relaxing, the smart TV makes all the difference! A few niggles: Firstly, the bin situation is a joke! I'm on holiday, I don't expect to be chasing down information about bins and bin collections. Bringing the bins in from the road and then putting them out as well! Please cheer up the outside seating - Replace or paint the rotting shed in the corner, pull up the tiny plants/weeds, paint or replace the table and provide ...more
Only small point .The instructions on location could have stressed to put in the name of the property into satnav as post code is insufficient
Location - although set back, it is on an extremely busy road. So lots of traffic noise No rear garden. Front garden, whilst secure and in good condition isnt a pleasant experience sitting outside with the noise of the traffic Lounge, kitchen and downstairs toilet all fine. Attention to detail on cleaning was not great. I have taken photos of the evidence Upstairs main bathroom - broken toilet seat. Photo evidence available Both bathrooms - skirting boards and toilet brushes not dusted for some time - photo evidence available Bedroom next to main bathroom - mattress badly stained wit...more
We spent a lovely week at The Old Post Office mid-September with our young son and a couple of friends who came for the weekend. I hope my review will allow others to make the choice as to whether this accommodation is right for them. The location is absolutely brilliant. Waking up to such wonderful views, with a short walk to the beach, about 60 seconds to the ferry to Hurst Castle, a short drive to the lovely town of Milford… you can’t fault it. The house is very spacious and welcoming, despite looking slightly worn in places. Very clean and well-equipped and the supplied beach towels wer...more
A very enjoyable long weekend. Good location to get to from West London and whilst basic accommodation but perfect for what we needed.
The gibson enjoyed themselves and its location. The house is an old building with many interesting features and blessed with a Welcoming owner.
Everything you need is there Haley the lady that looks after the place goes the extra mile .I will be going back with my family cant speak highly enough of the place
We enjoyed our week at the Boat Shed. Whilst it may be small in size, it is has everything you need for a quiet stay. It is superbly located in Lymington, a short walk to the centre, the harbour and all the attractions. The place is in need of a little TLC however as the deck is showing it’s age, whilst the tables and chairs outside aren’t in the best of condition. There were also a few cobwebs inside on arrival. But that doesn’t detract from what was a great stay, although the description should include what is available at the Boat Shed, like a BBQ and a cafetière for instance as we...more
Super location with good access to Lymington and beyond by car/bike. New Forest Escape insider guides were a great resource for an action packed stay. If we visit again we might choose to take it slower but good weather was so perfect for exploring somewhere new each day.
A family of 3 generations had a fantastic week away at Forest Edge, helped by the amazing weather! Lovely, welcoming family home and garden in a perfect location. Great for walks straight onto the National Park, excellent food at the very local Fleur De Lys Pub and close to amenities of Lymington. We spent days on the beaches at Milton On Sea & Barton on Sea, both within 25 minutes drives & not use at all in mid July. The house was very well equipped & had everything we needed for an enjoyable staycation. The football table a particular hit in our family..its now on the birthday lists!
This is a lovely House in an amazing location. Perfect for Long Walks on the Heath. Waterproof footwear is recommended! There is everything you need in the house which is beautifully furnished. The fourposter double is very small and better suited as a single. Loved sitting at the kitchentable looking out on the pretty garden. It is worth noting that There is only a handheld shower in the bathroom. We had a great week exploring the new forest.
