Hazelhurst (just 1 mile from Sway Village & 4 miles from Lymington’s town & Quay), means that both coast & country adventures are at your fingertips during your New Forest Escape, but the green-filled garden may well tempt you to close the gates and stay put! Set over three floors, picking a fave spot is impossibly hard at Hazlehurst…

Beautiful house - with a couple of disappointments

The house itself is extremely beautiful, the furnishing is straight from a magazine and it’s equipped very well.

However, there were some important issues which did worsen our stay. The garden is absolutely not secure - along one long side the fence is around a foot off the ground meaning any small or medium dog can just walk out. There are also some large holes leading directly only a well used country road.

Also, we asked in advance if there were fans as it was in a heatwave. We were told there were fans and AC in the attic. The latter was untrue and the attic was so much warmer than the rest of the house that those guests had to sleep downstairs throughout.

Some minor issues like promised kitchen products - big bags, oil - not being there and meeting quite some resistance when asked to correct, which caused some inconvenience.

A lovely cottage, with a large kitchen and dining area. The house is spacious and comfortable with different sitting rooms where guests can sit together or use for time on their own. Good location. Beautiful views of the garden which is well kept with good outdoor seating areas. Some of the bathrooms have baths with handheld showers.

We stayed here as a large family group of three generations. Everyone was enchanted by the character of the house, with all the quirky art, the fantastic main staircase and so much space. There are so many living rooms on the ground floor that it was easy for different groups to find their own quiet space when wanted. The kitchen/dining area was perfect for large sociable meals, and was very well equipped. The bedrooms were spacious and beds extremely comfortable, so much so I had to check out the brand of mattresses!
The children enjoyed the playroom and the outside space, and the grownups enjoyed relaxing on the outdoor furniture and playing pentanque on the path below in the evenings. It was so quiet and peaceful there, and a joy to watch the deer wandering around the garden in the early mornings and in the evenings.
There were a couple of small issues that came up during our stay, but a call to the property managers meant they were dealt with and resolved swiftly.
There’s so much to see and do in the surrounding area, that we only scratched the surface.
It was a privilege to be able to stay in such a beautiful house, and we all came away with some very happy memories. Thank you!
