Behind its handsome thatched hat, our 200 year old home in Pilley calls for you to spend proper time together. Head out into the garden for butterfly spotting amongst the wisteria, or relax under the ancient beams playing cards by the fire. Good old fashioned fun awaits. Dog friendly.

Beautiful cottage in the perfect location for walking in the New Forest directly from the garden gate. Our dogs loved it as much as we did. Very pretty garden with seating. Comfortable, well equipped property. Good pubs and village shop. In good location for visiting local attractions. Definitely a place to return to.

We spent our second weekend in Forest Cottage in the last 3 years and it was as magical as we remembered. The cottage and garden are beautiful. It is very clean and presented to a high standard. We loved the personal touches and were lucky to have beautiful weather so ate all of our meals in the garden. The location is perfect as you can walk straight onto the moors and the village shop has improved since our last visit and is very well stocked. Communication from the owners was also excellent. We hope to return for a third stay soon.

A lovely cottage in the heart of the forest and ideally situated for dog walking and relaxation in the garden as it’s very quiet. Really lovely having the horses right outside our door. This cottage however needs some attention although upstairs was clean and functional, downstairs was unclean on our arrival which was disappointing. The bathroom floor was dirty and ceiling had mould on it. The kitchen hob was dirty as was the fan oven in the Aga. The microwave was full of rust and very unhygienic and possibly dangerous to use. Cobwebs hanging from light fittings in the lounge too. These factors really let this cottage down and as paying customers we expected better.

We had a very lovely week in Forest Cottage, a beautiful thatched cottage sitting right on the common with horses and donkeys roaming past the garden gate, and looking exactly like something out of a fairytale. The garden was perfect for our little girls' football games and for enjoying our meals in the evening sun. The quiet location is perfect for quick access to the community shop, the playground and the pub, as well as the wider New Forest.

We had a wonderful break. The cottage is beautiful with everything you need. The hosts were brilliant at making sure we were happy. The location of the cottage was really important as we didn’t want to do lots of driving and Pilley meant we were no more than 20 mins away from places we wanted to see. Highly recommend.

This was our second year of spending Christmas at Forest Cottage.
Jane and Tom are excellent hosts, helpful and friendly, but never intrusive. Welcome hamper greatly appreciated.
The cottage is comfortable and clean - the bathroom is a bit of a challenge to get warm, but not unmanageable.
Facilities are fine - maybe a bigger frying pan or wok would be useful and a wider selection of knives, but again not a deal breaker.
The location is fantastic - right on the edge of the new Forest; we love being able to walk for miles straight from the front door. The dog had the time of his life!

The only thing that would stop us coming back again is the poor EV charging in the area. Maybe we'll just rent a petrol car next year!

Lovely thatched cottage and in the perfect forest position for walkers and dog owners. Our daughter loved waking up to find horses outside her bedroom window. Very helpful and responsive owners.
