The house is centrally located in Lymington which is a wonderful coastal town. We were 6 adults and stayed very comfortably. We also had 1 infant and the hosts were accommodating in sorting out an excellent travel cot. Nice garden too which caught the sun for lunch time!

Really enjoyed our week at Nutshell Cottage. There were 6 of us, and while the cottage is not huge, everything is so well designed/ thought out that it was reallly comfortable. The back garden was also nice to sit out in in the sun. The only small jniggle (and it is a small one) was that using the provided parking clocks in the nearby car park meant having to move cars every 20 hours (there is no on street parking in surrounding streets). Other than that, would highly recommend.

We had a lovely stay in Lymington. Nutshell cottage has a fantastic location and the parking clock is very easy to use. Great that you can also use the parking clock for free parking at other car parks around the New Forest, we didn’t realise this until day 3 though!

Location wise, it’s very good - just off the main High St. A good local pub just around the corner is the Townhouse. Great food and decent menu, dog friendly too like most pubs we found in Lymington.

Overall we were happy with the property, it’s nicely furnished and decorated. However I would highlight that the property could do with a thorough refresh and repainting, which you’d expect to be done before the start of the 2024 season, and before the property gets booked week to week. Lots of marks/scuff marks on walls, paint peeling off walls in bathrooms etc. We also found the sofa really uncomfortable. Property sleeps 6 but I’m not sure how you’d all fit in the living room area if there was 6 people. The sofa is really low backed and just not comfortable to relax on.

The garden could also do with some work. Clearly the grass doesn’t grow well with the tall trees providing shade - more shingle or pebbles perhaps need to be put down. I understand it’s March but again you’d expect the garden to be a bit nicer and usable.

Overall we felt the price we paid was quite high for the standard received, compared to other properties we’ve stayed in. Particularly with it being March and a quieter season.

I would recommend New Forest Holidays but would perhaps only book Nutshell again if it was freshened up and a new sofa provided.

A lovely stay in a beautiful cottage. Everything cleverly arranged to make good use of the available space. Very close to the centre of town.

Nutshell Cottage was located very centrally close to all the Lymington amenities but still plenty of walks from your doorstep, whether through Lymington or towards the coastal nature reserves. Parking requires a bit of effort as you need to use public car park and move the car every 20 hours but that was not too much of a hassle as we planned trips out around this timetable. Cottage itself was very well equipped with nothing material missing for a comfortable stay. Bed was lovely and comfortable. All in all - a great place for a semi-town/semi-country week away.

Nutshell cottage is ideally situated for easy access to all the lymington amenities. It is very well set up for a family with adult children. Very clean and warm with all amenities provide and every need catered for. Very clear instructions on how to access the property. The Christmas tree and decorations with lights on when we arrived made us feel welcome at home straight away

We stayed over October half term and had a fantastic time. It is a great cottage in an excellent location very near to all of the New Forest’s attractions. The town itself is lovely with plenty of pubs and restaurants and the kids had many happy hours walking and fishing for crabs.

The cottage is quite small but well set out and was easily big enough for a family of four. It is very comfortable and tastefully decorated and feels very much like home.

The parking provision in a nearby car park works very well. My one word of advice is not to even consider parking on the street outside the house unless you are unloading and stay with your car. Despite observing the restrictions we got a parking ticket from an over zealous traffic warden!

Overall a great spot and the team managing it are friendly, efficient and knowledgeable about the area. Would recommend.

Very well equipped cottage in a good location. Small but well designed. Car park very close. Perfect for 2 couples for a w/e. We didn't need the very small third twin room. Damp smell downstairs which needs to be addressed and a shame the garden is not kept tidier. Heater didn't seem to work in top bedroom but not a problem when we were there as it was lovely weather even in October. Slightly sneaky of NFE to take deposit over a week earlier than the trip and we have not had it back ten days after the trip despite NFE saying it was coming. If we had booked on Airbnb or Booking.com, realise now that we would not have had the deposit to pay.

Wonderful to hear you enjoyed your stay with us at Nutshell Cottage, we are sorry to hear the heating was not on in the top floor bedroom, our property manager would have been on hand to fix should you have needed them. Did you reach out to them at all? Security deposits are held one week in advance of arrival, this all outlined in the booking confirmation emailed to all our guests. We also call to run through this process and avoid any surprises. For security reasons we cannot release access info to the property until this has been done. We hope you understand. The deposit is a pre-authorisation only, we do not actually take any funds. This is auto cancelled 3 working days after check out. There is no refund to process. We hope this clarifies everything and are truly sorry if there was any confusion when you booked. We pride ourselves on being open and honest and would hate for you to feel mislead in anyway. We had a lovely stay at Nutshell cottage and found the location perfect for exploring the coast and New Forest. The location was great for wandering around Lymington and there was lots of choice for places to eat and drink nearby with the kids. We also found the parking really useful, being able to park outside the cottage to load and unload and then having parking permits for the nearby car park which was really close by. The information provided by New Forest Escapes was excellent in helping up plan our activities and meals.

The only gripe I had was the finish and condition of the property. Whilst it had clearly been refreshed and modernised inside the finish was pretty poor quality and the cleanliness wasn’t up to the standards I’m used to with these types of properties. Given it’s a small property these finishes really make a difference for the price being paid for the rental.

Nutshell Cottage is very quaint, comfortable and ideally located.
We were a group of 5 adults, and found that, for a short stay, we had adequate space.
We did have an issue with the heating, so needed some advice as we didn’t want to contravene any rules, however, when a message was left with the managing agents it was not returned.
Parking is plentiful in a nearby car park, for which permits are supplied - the parking rules in said car park must be the most esoteric we have ever encountered, even when we enquired with the parking attendant we were none the wiser!

We were really impressed with Nutshell Cottage - with the layout, the location and the decor! 5 of us stayed (all adults), plus a dog and there was plenty of room for us all. The proximity of the cottage to the High Street and to some excellent pubs and restaurants was fantastic and made for a really relaxing, comfortable stay. We will definitely book again!

Cottage was great for our family. Living area quite snug for 5 of us but this is clearly stated on the website. Beds very comfy. Kitchen worked well for us, large fridge/freezer is good. Secure back garden. Sofa doesn’t seat 5 and not as comfortable as it looks, so room for improvement. The two parking clocks worked really well. Car park is very close. Appreciated the milk on arrival but some other welcome goodies would have been nice! Overall we had a super week and I would definitely recommend New Forest Escapes.

Nutshell Cottage has been thoughtfully designed, is extremely comfortable and has everything you could need inside. It was spotlessly clean inside and the cottage itself is a wonderful place to stay. It is unfortunately let down a little bit by the outside space which has broken furniture and a rather unkempt garden

We have just returned from a 4 night break, cottage was beautifully presented. Very well thought out fitments and furnishings. House decorated for Christmas, a very nice touch,
Comfy 6ft beds and crisp white linen.
Great location too.

My two children and I de-camped to lymington for a week this summer and fell instantly in love with its charms. Beautiful cobbled streets, genuinely friendly locals and set in the heart of the New Forest, Nutshell cottage was perfect for us.

Lovely house in a central location, close to the High Street and harbour. The property was well equipped, furnished to high standards with a bright & airy feel, the bed was really comfortable with quality linen, and handy to have 2 bathrooms. Also a secure enclosed garden for the dog to patrol! An ideal base for exploring Lymington and the surrounding area. The parking clocks provided were great to have too, both in town and when visiting other places in the New Forest.
We would definitely return, and recommend Nutshell Cottage and New Forest Escapes wholeheartedly.

The property is located right in the centre of town and and the harbour is only a 10 minute walk away. The property has been excellently refurbished and is very comfortable and superbly equipped. Parking is easy as well.

We enjoyed our stay but for a couple of issues which we feel you may like to be aware of. Firstly the settee was found to be too low at the back to relax. The kitchen needs a blind for heat retention and also privacy. We feel that the house is not suitable for a big dog as there is nowhere to wipe down because you have to go through front door straight into living room and on a wet day this could result in lots of mud being flung about.
