The cottage is really lovely and for our needs it worked very well. Grandparents in the downstairs bedroom and bathroom and parents with two small children upstairs with a kitchen a lovely sitting room to gather in. Cottages can be cold, but the heating worked really well and it warmed up in no time. The garden is a real suntrap and it is so nice to be able to sit outside around the table in the sunshine. We even managed to have a family gathering with lunch for 11 all of us, with the children as well as adults having a good run around in the garden! The owner Fiona, who lives in the annex, was so approachable and helpful with local knowledge and tips. We couldn't have asked for more.

Thatched Hat Cottage is in a great location to explore the wildness of the New Forest, full of beauty spots a drive away or on your doorstep. Despite needing a little TLC in places, the cottage was comfortable and the garden was a great space for my boys to play in (not to mention Mr Mole that popped up to see us most days!). We enjoyed walks and cycle tracks nearby because we were able to see wild horses, cows and donkeys in their own habitat clearly enjoying life. Pooh sticks and ice creams in Beaulieu, a boat trip to Hurst Castle and crabbing in Lymington were highlights. Fiona and Skye were also a delight to have around and most helpful during our stay. Thank you for having us and making us feel at home for the week.

The general condition of the property was poor. A lot of botched repairs, damp patches and the kitchen floor is a mess. There was a smell of damp in a number of areas and the downstairs bathroom had an air freshener that was worse than the damp smell

Gorgeous cottage, in a perfect location for walking and exploring the new forest. Absolutely loved it, such a comfy stay with a cosy fireplace, and all the amenities you could hope for, really felt like home from home. Will definitely be returning.

We stayed at Thatched Hat cottage with our young children and had a wonderful time. The kids especially loved the garden. We were lucky to have a couple of clear nights so were able to go out and see the stars. We also heard tawny owls one night and even saw and heard a barn owl. There is a lot to see in the New Forest but we enjoyed the local area so much that we spent most of our days on walks in the nearby woods and to the beach.

Couldn't fault the cottage. Such fun staying in the 'Thatched Hat'. Everything was provided for an enjoyable time. Lovely garden and wildlife on your doorstep.Was visited by a deer and donkeys, which was such a treat for a 6 year old and adults alike.

Lovely cottage/ location.
Cottage very cold as very old and we didn’t have PIN number to turn on heating !
We used wood burner one night which was good.
Too many rugs on floors which can be a danger to trip up on + they ruched up all the time.

A very comfortable cottage, ideally situated for getting to the best out of your New Forest stay. The property was well serviced with plenty of hot water and comfortable beds. The lounge was cosy and the kitchen was easy to use with plenty of glasses, crockery and utensils. The friendly owner (Fiona) lives on site and is on-hand to help with any queries that may arise during your stay. However, the phone app was a real bonus, providing very detailed information relating to the cottage, places to eat and visit.

All-in-all, a great stay and would highly recommend 'Thatched Hat cottage'.

The Thatched Hat was perfectly positioned for all our travels within the forest and beyond.
Easy to navigate the smaller lanes and witness a quieter corner of this beautiful Forest.
Everything you could possibly need was found in the cottage and the space both inside and out was great for our adult family! Local to Lymington for supplies and dining options if not wanting to self cater. Amazing Easter break - thank you

My husband and I stayed in the Thatched Hat Cottage for one week over the Christmas holidays. The house was stunning, even better than in the pictures. Very warm and cozy, spotless, well equipped house with a wonderful garden. It was pleasure to cook in that amazing kitchen, and spend the evenings in the cozy living room by the wood-burner. The location was great, it was easy to get to Lymington, also to hiking locations. The nice local pub was only a 15 minutes walk.
It was one of the best stays so far. The house is incredible and absolutely worth every penny❤️

NB. Be aware you can’t charge your electric car at the cottage. We found a charging station in a car park in lymington.

The Cottage is very charming and location is rural and quiet with nice Garden and in Case of nice weather with views to the Isle of wight. Perfect to explore New Forest-Beaulieu etc. and in short distance Lymington, Brockenhurst with nice Restaurants are accessable in 10 minutes drive. Was really nice beeing there!

If you’re looking for a country cottage escape in a tranquil countryside setting this won’t disappoint. It’s full of charm and the large table on the patio just outside the kitchen is perfect for relaxing alfresco meals. It’s an old cottage so naturally has its quirks but it’s well equipped and comfortable and the owner Fiona and her dog Sky were most hospitable hosts!

Our stay at Thatched Hat Cottage was fantastic - thank you so much! The space is beautiful, cosy and warm and well equipped. We were meant to drive but at the last minute weren’t able to due to injury but the Cottage is well placed with walks, pub and beach not too far at all! Couldn’t recommend enough and look forward to an excuse to go back again soon!

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful thatched cottage. Lovely location ideal for exploring the New Forest and full of character. We had everything we needed, the kitchen was well stocked. The fire was so cosy. Loved waking up and being able to look out over the garden and hear the pheasant’s and the birds singing. Met the owner who was lovely and friendly. Visited the East End Arms for delicious food. A great stay and we will be back.

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage. Full of character and very comfortable. A fantastic location, walking in the forest or along the shore. The only downside are the dated bathroom’s.

Host met us on arrival, very friendly with some helpful advice. Cottage felt homely straight away and host had thoughtfully provided some tea/coffee etc to get us started. Everything worked as it should and we had a lovely few days in a beautiful setting. Thoroughly recommend.

Our stay at Thatched Hat Cottage was all that I hoped it would be, it had a wonderful outdoor space that afforded us the opportunity to spend many a night sipping wine and setting the world to rights whilst my little (5 year old) was snuggly tucked up in bed. The cottage is in a wonderful location and great as a base from which to explore the new forest. Fiona the owner was lovely and incredibly welcoming and friendly. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend a visit. We will be back to say hi to Guinness, Sky and Fiona

The garden is wonderful and the owner is lovely and very helpful But the property is in need of a make over — the kitchen floor is a mess , externally it needs painting , fixtures and fittings need updating .

Lovely stay in a very comfortable and charming cottage. The garden is great to sit in with a drink and a good book, watching the birds and Guinness the guinea fowl. The kitchen was probably the best stocked we have ever stayed in, it had absolutely everything you needed. Fiona, the owner, was very friendly, good to have a little chat and it was handy to have her local knowledge. Location wise, the cottage is very well placed for visiting the New Forest area, and also very close to the coast.

Lovely cottage ,wonderful outlook towards IOW. We didn’t mind that Fiona is living there in the annexe this summer, a really lovely lady and her Labrador Sky and Guinness just added to our enjoyment. Didn’t like the rough concrete kitchen floor, Downstairs bathroom needs updating and a shower to save having to going upstairs. Very pleasant and comfortable lounge.
