Such a perfect little place. It’s beautifully and stylishly designed and perfectly cosy. Makes you crave nights in. Lovely little garden space too for breakfast in the sun.

The little gate house is exceptional. Stylish, quirky and so comfy, it was a delight to stay there. 10 mins walk and you are looking at the stunning south coast. The location within the village is quiet and peaceful, yet on the doorstep of so much. It is truly dog friendly and our little cockapoo loved it as much as we did.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay at this unique and stylish bolthole. Everything provided and a good location for visiting the area and meeting up with friends. We found the bed a little firm for us hence rating but otherwise a very comfortable place to stsy and friendly hosts.

We absolutely loved staying at the Little Gate House, such a wonderful place. It had everything we needed for a comfortable, enjoyable stay.

It was so quiet but close to everything either by walking or by car. Milford on Sea is such a wonderful little town too.

The Little Gate House was perfect for the 2 of us, more than suitable space inside and the decked courtyard. The bifold doors made it even more open.
Location is perfect for accessing the village on foot or a little further afield by vehicle. Very quiet area as well. Just a shame we didn’t need to use the log burner, but it was already in the 20’s! On that note, a fan was provided.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Little Gate House, the place is very well designed. This was our first trip with a three months old baby, and we had a wonderful experience. The Little Gate House is cosy, relaxing retreat that provides everything you could need for a trip away. The location and distance to sights is extraordinary, providing you with easy of access to all that the new forest and coast has to offer. A beautifully presented small but perfectly designed house. Perfect location for heading out to the beaches of the south coast. It’s difficult to spot any issues, maybe a decent mattress topper as the bed is quite hard and definitely a shelf in the bathroom.

The place is beautiful! It’s in a quiet location next to the hosts house, but it still feels very private.
Unfortunately both me & my partner ended up with a stomach bug (we must have picked it up in London). The hosts were so kind and helpful. They allowed us to check in a bit earlier and later to accommodate us.
When you’re unwell, all you want is to be home! But their place was comfortable, homely and warming which made the experience much nicer!
When we did manage to venture out the locals were really friendly and the area is quiet, safe and relaxing.

Great experience from start to finish. First time using New Forest Escapes and a breath of fresh air compared to a well known site. After booking received a call a few days later to check we had all the information ok which was a rather nice touch. Instructions were spot on and property on arrival everything was just perfect. Lovely space for the two of us and within a short walk of the village center and the sea. We only had a short visit but location was great for visiting most places in the New Forest although we only managed Bucklers Hard, Beaulieu, Brockenhurst for a cycle ride and of course the coast.

Nice stay, close to the town. Be careful about the bathroom door, as it sticks closed shut, and can be difficult to get out !

Quite hard to find as there is no name on the outside. Tiny from outside but so much bigger inside! The space has been extremely well designed. Very comfortable and cosy. Bed is quite small for 2 tall people.
Ten minutes from town or beach with excellent walks and restaurants.

Lovely location as walkable into the village (along a little stream) which has restaurants, coffee shop, pubs and a little coop so a nice little hub. Also walkable to the seafront, again with nice eatery such as the Lighthouse (and dog friendly). The space itself is very relaxing and well finished. Coffee machine, small dishwasher, lovely welcome basket and everything you can need for a little break - including wood burner and logs (although the weather was great so I didn't use). The patio windows open up to give a lovely inside outside feeling also. Thoroughly recommend staying here.

We had a fantastic break in The New Forest. The Little Gate House provided the perfect base to explore the area. Gorgeous decor and the owners have provided everything you will need.

Absolutely loved it here!! Only a short walk into the little town where there were loads of places to eat/drink.
Such a quirky little place and perfect for what we wanted.

Lovely high ceilings and well presented property made for a comfortable stay. Bathroom was a good size, kitchen was well equipped and nice little welcome basket and small milk on arrival was a nice touch. Close enough to Milford on Sea to walk in for a coffee, and good location to explore surrounding areas.

The Little Gate House was lovely to stay in. It was cosy and well decorated, there were good amenities such as bathrobes and sweet treats, and it got lots of natural light. It was perfectly clean when we arrived, and the check-in with the lockbox was smooth. It was in a decent location with a 10-minute drive to the sea. I think it was very good value for money considering the size of the accommodation and the quality of it as well.

I think the deposit of £250 was a little steep. The check-out time of 10am is definitely too early - I've never stayed at private accommodation or a hotel where check-out was before 11am, so it didn't make for the most relaxing last morning, and a late check-out fee of £50 is unusually high. There were no fire starters in the Tupperware box next to the fireplace, nor any strips to light the matches on, so it was a bit difficult to start a fire using only tinder.

Please do let us know of anything like that in the future as we can provide on request. Also with a later check out, we could have checked this with the owner although it's never guaranteed. Loved Milford on Sea village which was only a short walk away. The house was generally clean and tidy and had most of the things we needed. Felt very welcoming and ‘snuggly’. Jaunt E bikes was a great day out.
Onle a couple of negatives from our point of view, we found the bed too hard, would have like egg cups and the coffee maker hadn’t been cleaned out and emptied. Apart from that it was a great few days away.

The Little Gate House is a delight - a really interesting and light space that has been decorated and furnished to a luxurious standard. It's very comfortable for two adults and two small dogs - both quiet and relaxing with an outside terrace that catches the sun and a very welcoming living space.

A great place to stay - the interior design was fabulous! Very welcoming, cosy and a great use of the space. Loved the small personal touches of dog treats and a welcome box of good quality snacks.

Location was good - close to main places that are worth visiting such as Lymington, Christchurch and Bournemouth.

Very few negatives, however, although this accommodation allows dogs to stay, there is nowhere suitable for the dogs to ‘do their business’ in the back courtyard - ie a grass patch or pebbles. We had to keep taking our dog out into the country lane which wasn’t very suitable late at night.

There was also an extra Linen cost (£40) and cost for the dog (£50) which seemed a little bit on the pricey side for just a 2 night stay.

This would not stop us recommending though, we had a great time and enjoyed the luxury of the surroundings.

But we are sad to hear there were negatives for you :( We are clear on the style and layout of the accommodation in the 'Hometruths' section of our website as we do not want our guests to be disappointed in anyway. The charge for dogs goes towards any extra cleaning and de-furring of the property, especially for any guests who stay without pets! Any extra charges are broken down to ensure the costs go to the right people, including the owners and laundry. We wanted to get in touch to say we had the most fantastic stay at The Little Gate House this bank holiday weekend - such a gorgeous, truly magical place and we just loved the area.

A huge thanks to Harri for the local recommendations and suggestions for dog friendly places. We enjoyed our walks and had a delicious meal at the Lighthouse restaurant on Sunday evening and brunch at The Cliffhanger on Monday morning.

What a perfect location for a weekend getaway! The seaside and town are a short walk away, and a lovely little stream walk nearby for dog walks. Our dog is very nervous so I was slightly worried that being so close to the main house might mean noises set her off. However we didn't hear anything from the main house and the Little Gate House was the perfect size for her to find her baring's and relax. All amenities were there, along with some tasty snacks. I would definitely come again, would love to visit in the Summer

This is an absolutely gorgeous place to stay- made even better by its location. The Little Gate House is so cosy with beautiful and thoughtful touches throughout. We stayed over a cold December weekend and loved the warming wood burner and the gorgeous Scandì bed box. The lovely secluded patio would be a great place to relax in on warmer days. Milford on Sea has lots to offer and we really enjoyed our meal at the fish restaurant, Verveine, and walks by the sea.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The place is just beautiful.

Designed to an incredibly high standard, with every aspect considered, deliberate, well chosen and thoughtful. It was intimate, cosy and we couldn’t stop smiling.

Location wise, it’s perfect for the little village where there were some great restaurants and a lovely wine bar.

We enjoyed some nice walks and looked forward to coming home to a cosy fire and a cup of tea.

I’d strongly recommend a visit if you get the chance.

We had a wonderful few nights here enjoying the property - the decor is so lovely and the place is so well equipped. The bed nook is so cosy and comfortable that we slept in a lot and also enjoyed coffee in the little garden in the mornings. It was quiet and comfortable - perfect for a little retreat and well located for exploring the coast and the forest.

A cute and cleverly designed studio in an amazing location. Quick walk to Milford, the sea and some great quick walks in a forest.
The outdoor space was bigger than we expected from the photo, and was perfect for our dogs and us to chill in. Already recommended to our family!

We had a wonderful stay at this gorgeous property for 6 nights. Its in a fabulous location within walking distance to the beach and town which has many great restaurants. The property has everything you need and the bed was very comfortable. We would definitely recommend staying here.

The toilet is pretty but a nightmare.

Having to arrive at 4pm and leave at 10am felt a bit unreasonable.

Wonderful little spot to relax and rejuvenate with all the home comforts you need with great forest and sea walks on the doorstep. I did not get into my car at all - and enjoyed lots of different walks with the dog through the nearby nature reserve and along the sea, enjoying views of the Isle of Wight. Cannot recommend it enough.

We had a really enjoyable stay in this lovely apartment. It had everything we needed for a relaxing holiday, well equipped, quiet and a great space to bring our little dog (he loved it too!). The perfect location to explore both the coast and the forest.

Excellent information and advice from New Forest Escapes. Well located for access to sea and the town. We did not use the car for three days.
The owners were very welcoming and the location was very peaceful.
Be aware that the very comfortable bed can only be approached from one side. this was made clear to us.

Very nice, we took a young puppy, and were wary of her scratching any furniture,any toileting (for the puppy) -was out to the lane, which was no distance rather than soiling the decking area. The antique toilet brought back memories of my childhood, but there was an art to the flush which did frustrate my partner. although dog friendly, which was great, I would be more relaxed as just a couple looking for a chilled weekend away in a lovely part of the country.

We absolutely loved our staycation in the New Forest, it was perfect in every way. The Little Gate House did not disappoint, such a cute little bolt hole, which was super cosy, very comfortable and most importantly totally private. It was in the perfect location for us to explore the nearby towns and surrounding area. We even got the ferry over to the Isle of Wight, something I’d definitely recommend! We look forward to booking with New Forest Escapes again & will probably do the exact same trip again as it was perfect & we couldn’t fault anything. Plus we still have restaurants on our list we would love to visit and some we’d like to visit again..!

We decided on the day before to book. The company could not have been more helpful ( at 6pm!) We were incredibly lucky to find this place. It has everything you could need for a few days away. Even in a compact space it feels spacious. The kitchen is well equipped, the shower is awesome! It’s done out to a very high standard and beautiful. It’s tucked away down a quiet street but a short walk from everywhere.
The village is fabulous, so many amazing places to eat and have a drink. The local walking is, as you would expect, amazing
All in all I would highly recommend and would absolutely book again.

Everything about The Little Gate House is encouraging relaxation, reset, and rest. A magical bolthole that we thoroughly enjoyed and needed. We didn't realise how much until we arrived. Great location whether you are an outdoors person or not. The accommodation is perfect, there is nothing more you need. Highly recommended.

We wanted a bolt hole for a few days to escape, and The Little Gate House was perfect.
It was quirky enough to feel different, and holiday like, but practical enough to be very easy as a place to stay.
We took our dog and she loved the fact we were permanently accessible & visible on one floor level-she likes to be where her humans are!
There are so many beautiful walks nearby we have vowed to return to explore more.
We never actually met the owners but we valued the fact they gave us our privacy (they left us a note with their mobile numbers so it was clear we could get in touch if we needed to)
All in all we loved it and would definitely go back.
Booking with New Forest Escapes was very easy, and it felt as though they added a personal touch to the process.

What a beautiful escape , a calm and peaceful feel to the property. Beautifully decorated with all the essentials needed to feel at home . Great location for both visited to the forest walls or strolling along by the sea . Hosts were incredibly welcoming & friendly . Highly recommend .

We stumbled across this gem whilst scouring the web for a last minute place to stay and honestly could not be happier that we did! The house is simply gorgeous and has absolutely everything that you could need and more. Helena’s taste simply cannot be faulted and it was a perfectly romantic little getaway. Very good location too, only a short drive to the beach and plenty of parking space on the drive. Thank you again for such a lovely stay!!!

The accommodation was as described and all furniture & fittings of good quality. Only thing to point out is that the bed box might not be too everyone’s taste- it was fabulous weather during our stay & so the bed area felt really hot, given that it’s enclosed on 3 sides. Other than that we absolutely loved it- great area & really friendly hosts- really convenient for so many things- we loved it
