Difficult to say what's not already been said - it is a top drawer place. Down side for me personally were -
No toilet downsrairs and the stairs were fairly steep (I managed but just) -
I used a chair from the kitchen to sit in living room as couches were lovely to look at but not cumfortable.
This never took anything away from all the positives. Be aware that the DVD player is Blue-Ray - no other disc will play on it.

We were a group of 3 adults (mother and 2 daughters) and 2 dogs (1 aged 12 and 1 aged just 4 months).
Our every need was taken care of within the premises, comfort, space, facilities and essential food provisions (plus a few very tasty treats). Three adults who are all used to their own space can often be somewhat tense when coming together in one property but the spacious rooms allowed more than adequate space for everyone.

For the dogs there were their own special towels, throws, a very ample sized crate (puppy sleeps so much better at night when crated) and some tempting duck treats which I understand from the dogs reactions were VERY tasty!
Oh yes, there were also little dog tags to attach to collars saying 'I am a visitor at Tallentire Hall' with their telephone number, so IF by any chance we had lost the dogs anyone finding would know where to take them! Brilliant idea!!!

There is a fabulous secure paddock to let the dogs run free and plenty areas nearby for lead walks.
Location was excellent for dog friendly activities, with information readily available in the cottage from beaches to cafes/restaurants, walks or historic buildings.
There was also a selection of games and indoor activities for those dark nights when we chose to stay inside.

This is by far the best 'dog friendly' place we have stayed in, we will definitely be back!

We had the most relaxing 4 nights here. The ‘fur kids’ loved it so much! They had their own playgtound and such amazing walks! We could not fault the property and we are planning our return next year.

We came here with our little boy and dog. The owners are lovely and very helpful and accommodating. Great location for exploring the north lakes. Accommodation was great and very comfortable.
Will certainly be looking to return

A wonderful stay. Cottage has everything you need and our dog needed. Clean and very comfortable. hosts couldn't do enough to make stay pleasurable. Dog field was brilliant

This place is in my all time top 3 favourite places I've stayed (and we've had a holiday at least 3 times a year for the last 30 yrs!).
Location is easy to get to. Idyllic grounds. Just being able to walk out the door and walk around the small private woodland, and secure paddock was so lovely. The home is very spacious, warm and comfortable. Owners are very friendly. Ann even helped us remove a small fiddly tick from a very wriggly spaniel. There's an outdoor warm shower just for the dog, with shampoo and towels provided, with a secure anchor point in the ground to attach the lead if you need to. Blankets/ throws provided in the house to cover the sofas/bedding. Tile and wooden flooring downstairs and carpet on stairs/ upstairs.

Note - there is no secure garden. It's open shared ground around the estate, but there's a secure paddock. So if your dog has no recall you'll need to keep it on a lead to take it out to do its business. We found it no trouble to do this with our delinquent rescue. There are rabbits, hedgehogs, deer etc. so plenty of things for your dog to chase if they're off lead, so be warned.

Was really sad to leave this place.

We stayed here while visiting family & found Tallentire Hall central to where we needed to be.
The Gamekeepers cottage was very spacious, clean & comfortable. There was a welcome pack provided which was very helpful, and a few little extras.
We met Ann on arrival who was very helpful & friendly.
There was a lot of information in the cottage for local places to visit, and also a games cupboard.
We had a wonderful week here and we would definitely choose to stay here again.

We had a great stay in the Gamekeepers Cottage. The property does the owners proud. Very clean, all facilities available. Wished we could have stayed longer. And nice to meet Ann and Martin. We will definitely look to come back in teh future.

The only thing that wasn’t perfect was the weather ! Sadly we experienced a couple of days of rain however this didn’t take away the amazing property we have just stayed in. Everything was catered for down to every minute detail. We couldn’t have asked for anything more. We will definitely be back for another stay.

Never been to such a well equipped clean cottage. Grounds were immaculate and pooch loved dog park.
We wanted a quieter area of the lakes and this did not disappoint. Close to sandy beaches with free parking, beautiful lake for paddle boarding and big hills to cycle up. It ticked all the boxes for our family.
The only down side is we would love to return but prices risen significantly for next year so probably unable to.

We stayed at Tallentire with a group of friends - we booked Gamekeepers & the Hayloft to ensure we had plenty of room as there were 9 of us. Ann was extremely helpful throughout our visit. Both cottages are well equipped, the beds are very comfy and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would definitely stay here again if we return to this area.

We stayed in Gamekeepers cottage for 4 nights at the end of May. We had a wonderful time exploring the local area and Western Lakes. The accomodation was 5* very clean and comfortable and every small detail was considered. The dog facilities, including dog shower, paddock and treats were fantastic. Thank you to Ann and Martin for their hospitality and knowledge of the local area. We would highly recommend to anyone looking for excellent accomodation that also truly caters for dogs too.

Beautiful accommodation a few miles from Cockermouth. It’s actually part of Tallentire Hall itself. Furnishings are plain but high quality. Huge rooms with high ceilings and elegant period windows. Well equipped kitchen with ample storage space. Comfortable beds. Option of super king or twin beds in second bedroom. Heating easily adjustable and plenty of hot water. Choice of feather or synthetic pillows. Nice warm airing cupboard for drying wet clothes. Lots of grounds to explore. Lovely welcome pack: eggs, milk, chocolate brownies, tea, coffee etc. The only improvements I could suggest are a reading light in the sitting room and some extra heating in the kitchen as it could be chilly at times. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay, thank you!

Really enjoyed staying with these lovely people in superb accommodation. Ann and Martin could not have done more for us. We felt very welcome from the start. We were warm and comfortable all the time. Superb Kitchen with everything you might need including a welcome pack. Everything had been furnished so tastefully to a very high standard. Will definately go again.

We enjoyed a great family break at Tallentire between Christmas and New Year. The hall is beautiful and the adjoining cottage we stayed in was really spacious, and well equipped. It is close to the historic towns of Cockermouth and Keswick and the beautiful lakes of Bassenthwaite and Buttermere. There are acres of grounds to walk in, and some great dog walks locally. There are also lots of good pubs and restaurants available within a short drive for those who want to try the food and hospitality on offer locally. The owners are really kind and helpful, and we looking forward to staying again in the future.

This was the perfect base for visiting the Solway Firth coast, and the northern Lakes. The cottage was everything we had hoped for, clean, quiet, with lots of nice touches. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable relaxing week in the Lake District. Even the weather behaved.

Fantastic location, beautiful cottage. Very grateful for the lovely welcome gift pack and our cockerpoo also loved her treats too. Very well equipped for dogs, & an added bonus of a dog shower at the stables. We had a slight problem with hot water, but it was sorted instantly and generously given a lovely bottle of wine as an apology. Very well equipped house & kitchen, every thing you will need is there. We will definitely be back. ❤

A brilliant, peaceful location for exploring the Western and Northern Fells of the Lake District.
Lovely accommodation with many fine details that made the stay relaxing and pleasurable.
The welcome pack was the best we have had and very generous.
Local pub was a proper pub, which added to the holiday.
Hosts were helpful, welcoming and went above and beyond to make our holiday a success.

Our second stay at Gamekeepers Cottage. Just as good as the first stay - a perfect cottage for some peace and tranquility in the very grand setting of Tallentire Hall. The cottage has everything you need and the location is just a short drive to some of the best scenery and walks in the Lake District. There is outdoor dining furniture and a fire pit on the garden terrace for the enjoyment of guests and an initial supply of kindling and logs is provided to get you started. A great feature of this cottage is the very large drying cupboard under the staircase which is excellent to get your kit dry if it’s been raining. The local free house pub (5 min walk from the cottage) is also great and prides itself on the quality of its real ales - just the ticket after a day out walking. We also ate there on Thursday evening - really tasty food and very reasonably priced too.

An excellent property situated in its own grounds in a quiet village. Great for just chilling out.
Only a short drive from Cockermouth, Keswick and Carlisle.
If you like walking and being out in the countryside there are plenty of tracks straight from the property or through the village.

Absolutely fantastic cottage. Couldn't fault it; extremely clean, great location, well appointed and Ann and Martin were the perfect hosts.
Difficult to say whether the humans or the dogs were most spoilt, the fully enclosed paddock for the dogs was very well used and the treats provided much appreciated.
We shall be back!
