Beautiful location. Tallentire near Cockermouth is lovely location to explore the north of the Lake District and Cumbria.
Our accommodation (Hayloft in Tallentire Hall) was beautifully decorated, very clean and comfortable. Our hosts were very welcoming and we had everything we needed for our stay and more. We absolutely loved it and cannot wait to come back again.

We had a wonderful week’s stay at The Hayloft. It was in a lovely, peaceful location. The accommodation was well equipped, comfortable and spacious. The garden was lovely and our dog certainly enjoyed it. We found the walking books in the property very useful and went on some gorgeous walks. The dog shower was really handy. We would certainly love to return.

Second stay at Tallentire Hall this time in the Hayloft, it’s a beautiful cottage with plenty of space with three large bedrooms one with on-suit with large zip link beds that are very comfortable, the Lounge is very spacious with chesterfield sofas and a large smart TV also a large dining table. The kitchen is a good size with modern appliances and an abundance of crockery, there is also a private garden to sit in and is very handy if you take your lovable pooch on holiday with you. Tallentire Hall is very dog friendly and there is a dog bed and towels/ blankets in the Hayloft ready for you when you get there even an outside dog wash with hot and cold water.
Tallentire hall is in great location and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxing holiday and will definitely return as Martin and Ann always make you feel very welcome.

We have just recently come back from a stay here where we booked The Hayloft apartment. There are 18 steps to it as it is above the horse stables so worth keeping in mind if anyone has any mobility issues. The apartment is spacious with 3 bedrooms, 1 ensuite, 1 bathroom and also another cloakroom I think you call it with toilet and sink.

The grounds are great to walk around and it has a fenced off area where you can let your dogs run around to burn off energy which our 2 loved. There are two horses which we saw often either in the stables or in their paddock and were lovely and friendly.

On our arrival there was a welcome gift of wine, brownies and treats for the dogs. I loved that the owners really understand being a dog owner and there was a dog bed in the lounge area as well as blankets to put on the chairs if your dogs like their extra comfort. Next to the stables there is also a shower room for the dogs to clean them down. They really have thought of everything. The apartment was spotless and has it's own enclosed garden.

We used it more for a base to go to surrounding areas and walks with the dogs which most were within about a 30 min to just over an hour away drive. There is a pub around a mile away which sadly while we were there didn't do any food although I believe they usually do. The quiz night was great and they did provide sandwiches and chips free of charge.

Can't recommend this place highly enough, was like a home from home but with better views. Not sure if it was all the fresh air but we all slept really well.

We struck lucky with the weather which was glorious and sunny.
We came back to the larger property(having stayed at Gardener’s) as our daughter also came.
A really excellent property and lovely surroundings, including garden. Also owner Ann couldn’t be nicer or more helpful.
A wonderful stay-don’t go elsewhere if staying in UK!

Tallentire Hall has the best dog friendly self catering I have ever been too. Spacious accommodation where everything is just perfect for a relaxing holiday. Very well equipped for humans and dogs. I have now been four times and am now planning for next year. A quiet area with easy access to the main Lake District towns. Ann & Martin have thought of everything to make our stays wonderful. Can’t recommend it highly enough. Excellent value for money too.

Following a stay here just after Christmas we returned for a summer holiday to this spacious, clean and comfortable apartment at the back of Tallentire Hall. Anne, the host is a friendly and prompt communicator who also laid on some delicious complimentary treats. Although you have easy access to the hall's grounds, the village and its hill beyond, a car is required to get the most from a stay. Tallentire is perfectly placed for exploring the North West Lakes as well as the much less visited Solway coast.

Everything about our stay was perfect. The communication and information app we were sent prior to our stay was fantastic. We are a family of 5 - 3 young adults and my husband and I with our labradoodle. The Hayloft is the most dog friendly place we have ever stayed at with a dog shower, towels and even homemade treats left by Ann. The WIFI was really good which satisfied the human element too. Beds are really comfortable and the kitchen is equipped to a very high standard and the whole Loft was super clean. Everything we could possibly need had been thought of. We also loved the horses who were in a stable below us. They were really friendly and we did not hear them at all in the Loft. The setting is glorious with a large estate and croquet lawn. A small piece of Heaven we will definitely be returning too.

We had a great week away in The Hayloft, spotless accomodation with everything you could possibly need, including chocolate brownies, a bottle of wine and treats for the dog on arrival! We loved playing croquet on the lawn, watching the sunset and toasting marshmallows in the firepit, and the walking books provided helped us plan our days out - all in all a fabulous trip and we'd love to come back.

Stayed here with friends as we were on a walking holiday. Hayloft is well equipped & there was plenty of room for 5 of us. Nice touches - the gluten free brownies & the complimentary wine were much appreciated. Lovely comfortable beds which were needed after some hard days out walking! A lovely stay and Ann was very helpful. Definitely recommend!

We had a great stay at the hayloft. Accommodation was excellent, the hosts were extremely helpful and really make an effort to ensure we enjoyed the break. There is a lovely private garden plus you have access to wander all the grounds. Very well set up for dogs with spare towels, beds, bowls etc. and a separate dog shower room.

The Hayloft at Tallentire Hall is the best ever dog friendly holiday let we’ve found since getting our dog six years ago. It’s clean, well equipped, well furnished and comfortable for humans. It has everything you will need to cook if you choose to. Comfortable furniture to relax and huge beds to sleep. The hosts Ann & Martin have thought of everything you or your dogs could want. The dog is well catered for with throws for furniture, dog bed, towels and an outdoor hot/cold shower and more towels and shampoo. It has lovely gardens and even a fenced dog field if you need an enclosed space for dog exercise. It’s just 3 miles from Cockermouth, a lovely small town with supermarkets and lots of independent cafes, bars, restaurants and shops. It’s not far from the main resorts in the Lake District but lovely and peaceful. There’s a great dog friendly pub/restaurant close by but make sure you’re hungry, the portions are huge. After our third holiday at Tallentire (two in The Hayloft and one in Gamekeepers Lodge) and another booked for September I just cannot praise this holiday property enough. Pricing is great too. There’s not a single negative I can think of!

For humans - we had a lovely stay at The Hayloft. The rooms are all spacious and clean. The kitchen is modern and very well equipped. The bedrooms have super comfortable large beds. There is plenty of pans, glasses, towels, toiletries, games etc. The owners left us lots of little extras from fresh eggs to chocolate brownies ( Thank you). The village of Tallentire has a good pub with great food.
For Dogs - well what can I say Tallentire hall was a home away from home. The Hayloft had its own enclosed garden that dogs can enjoy under the watchful eyes of their owners. There are lovely woody walks around the Hall and best off all a large dog run. The local pub is dog friendly too. The Hayloft had blankets, towels and an outside shower. The owners make dogs very welcome and provided special treats. When our dog was off his food, Ann (the owner) provided homemade bone broth. (Thank you again).

Tallentire Hall is a gem of a property hosted by exceptionally delightful and helpful owners, Ann and Martin. We were planning to book the one-bedroom property for our second visit but our daughter and her family insisted on joining us again, so we all stayed in The Hayloft. We loved it. The view of ewes with their new born lambs in the field behind was an extra special treat. Rosie, our labrador, enjoyed the enclosed garden. We love this unspoilt part of Cumberland and Tallentire Hall is the perfect property from which to explore it.

In short, you HAVE to stay here! 5 *****

With our trip being a combination of Lake District veterans and newbies, we needed somewhere that would suit the needs of 4 adults, 1 toddler and 4 dogs, and The Hayloft at Tallentire Hall was exactly that! Set on a gorgeous estate, with stunning views, you're neatly tucked away from all the tourists, but with the beautiful countryside right on your doorstep.

We were incredibly well looked after by the hosts Ann & Martin, with lovely (and very welcome) baked goods and wine, as well as yummy treats for our various doggos. The dogs having their own enclosed area within the grounds was extremely handy and the added bonus of all the dog blankets & towels was very useful, especially given the rather unlucky weather we encountered during our stay.

The property was extremely spacious, with plenty of room for a group of people (and dogs) to call home for 2 weeks and the speedy wi-fi was definitely appreciated, as someone who worked a few days whilst on the trip.

All in all, I would highly recommend a stay here, and would definitely be looking to stay again next time we find ourselves in The Lakes!

We (my partner and our two dogs) had a lovely 3 night stay in The Hayloft.
Customer service was excellent. Great communication from booking through to departure. Ann actually contacted us on the day of arrival to let us know the accommodation was ready earlier than official check-in as she thought we might like to get in from the chilly weather. Ann was there on arrival and gave us a bit of an overview of the facilities in the accommodation and it was quickly evident that this IS a very welcoming place for dogs and not like some places which claim to be dog friendly but actually only tolerate dogs to get the business of the owner.
The garden size was brilliant and secure for the dogs. If we had visited in warmer weather we would definitely have spent time out there enjoying the birds and general peacefulness.
The accommodation itself was fabulous. Great sized rooms, lovely furnishings, fittings and linens, with a really homely feel about it. The kitchen is as well equipped as you have at home, which is sometimes not the case. There is everything you need to be able to make a delicious meal including a slow cooker if you are planning long days out.
The location is really easy to find and accessible to the coast, hills, the Lake District whilst providing a fantastically peaceful setting.
Ann was a super host and very kindly popped us another bottle of wine in the fridge for us when we contacted her whilst we were out at the local pub having an evening meal. Also the wine available from Ann and Martin is excellent quality at a good price.
The welcome pack that is provided was greatly appreciated and the home made dog treats we thoroughly enjoyed by our two.
We would throughly recommend The Hayloft, we would like to have just stayed put and not had to leave.
Thank you for making it a brilliant hideaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

We had the best stay at the hayloft. It was spacious and immaculate. The children loved walking around the grounds as did our dog. Great location for what we wanted to achieve and excellent value for money. Ann and Martin went out of their way and the little
Touches made the stay even more remarkable. We will definitely be staying again!!

My wife and I were both very impressed indeed at the Hayloft.
It was bright, spacious, peaceful and incredibly clean.
Good quality furnishing and bedding. Immaculate showers/baths.
It felt like so much was perhaps new and finished to high spec.
Lovely simple touches on arrival such as - milk, eggs, coffee, tea, and various small cakes to choose from.

Location a little remote but we knew this ourselves. Nice and peaceful grounds to walk around away from busy local towns/villages with tourists.
Small points for improvement - perhaps better signage into the hall from street, step/stools for children for handwashing etc.

Overall great stay and would highly recommend.

This is our 2nd stay at The Hayloft. It is so beautiful, homely and comfortable. Super dog friendly, yet if you wouldn't know there had been dogs in there as it is spotlessly clean on arrival. The owners are great, they are on hand if you need anything and at the same time they leave you to enjoy your stay. Gorgeous grounds to explore and a good location for exploring the Lakes. It was hot weather so there was even a paddling pool left for the dogs to cool off in, in the lovely garden. There is a lovely welcome pack for humans and dogs. It's all the extra thoughtful things that make it so special.
Thank you so much for having us again.

We stayed at The Hayloft over the Easter holiday and had a wonderful week. It was spotlessly clean and really well equipped with everything you could need for a week away including plenty of crockery and cutlery for a family of 6. We really appreciated the quality of furnishings and, in particular, the beds which meant we all slept really well. It was great to stay somewhere where the dogs were made every bit as welcome as their human companions and being able to let them out into the secure garden straight from the front door made life much easier for everyone. The Hayloft is bigger than it looks in the photos and video and was plenty big enough for 6 adults and 3 dogs. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anybody and hope to visit again when we’re next in the area.

So clean and comfortable and such nice quality furniture. Very good encore basket, wine eggs etc…. Cheerful, bright and spotless with a fresh smell..A very helpful owner, friendly and welcoming , ready to help with anything.. only slight downside is a small kitchen to dish up meals for four or more , not much work surface but we managed and cooker top a bit complicated to use until you get used to it . We didn’t mind the steps up to it too much . The garden could do with more comfortable chairs and maybe a couple of nice pots /flowers…would stay again though …

Staying at the Hayloft is the perfect way to holiday in the Lake District with your dog. It’s very clean, spacious and very well equipped with everything you need and then some. Just 3 miles from Cockermouth and 14 miles from Keswick so a great place to stay to explore the North Lakes. Ann & Martin are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. I’ve already booked for September in Gamekeeper Cottage. Tallantire Hall is a spectacular building and it’s been a privilege to stay there.
