Booked the Ocean Drive and and Cairn lodge for birthday celebration with family and friends 11 adults in total
Very impressed with the standard of the lodges and how well equipped both lodges were
Excellent for comfort and style with views and sunsets to die for
Make sure to look up and take in the stars if the sky is clear
Local town was about a 25 min walk with lovely pubs and coffee shops
Maybe a couple more mirrors required but still 10/10

Everything about the lodge was excellent. The view was amazing. They are what they are described as Luxury Lodges. The owners responded immediately to any queries we had. Would highly recommend this place

We thoroughly enjoyed our week here.
The lodge was absolutely perfect for us, modern, spacious and very well equipped.
The view is stunning and the location is so peaceful and relaxing.
A lovely part of the world to visit.

This is our 2nd stay at Gatehouse LL. This time we stayed Ocean View (it wasn’t built last time).
Whilst I agree with their website that ‘the lodges have been finished to a very high standard’, it cannot reasonably be argued that the ‘the lodges are fully equipped with all that you need.’ Saucepans, 2 frying pans, crockery, and more glasses you can shake a stick from Ikea and that’s about it. Okay, there are a few utensils, scissors and corkscrew, but where are the inexpensive items that I’d expect. A colander for draining rice/pasta, ovenware for cooking a lasagna, a ladle, a set of scales, a breadbin…….The list goes on.
We were also disappointed the TV in the twin room was missing, without apology or explanation. The wall mount was there – but no tv! The occasional chair in this room was also the dining room chair (which we had to carry through for meals). The towel rail in the bathroom didn’t work and there were lightbulbs missing from bedside lamps. Despite information in the literature there was no bike shed and charcoal is useless without a BBQ.
It’s almost as if the lodge isn’t finished yet, or the owners have stretched furnishings between their two newly build lodges.
To offer a balanced review, I did contact the manager of the lodges about the ‘missing’ kitchen items and he did offer to ‘see’ what he could do, but it all seemed very half-hearted. In the end I decided I couldn’t be bothered in wasting precious holiday time on such and bought the items I need myself. Subsequent emails went unanswered. Enough said.

We were attending a wedding at GGs Yard and booked the lodge for 6 people. The lodge was in a beautiful, peaceful area with stunning views and was spotlessly clean, well equipped with everything you could possibly need to make your stay, with comfortable beds, beautifully furnished living and dining area. Kitchen and utility area were also well equipped. We would like to pass on our thanks to Donald who was extremely helpful to us in arranging our stay but also in arranging transport to and from the wedding. I would definitely recommend these lodges to anyone requiring accommodation in this area.

We found Ocean Drive very comfortable and were blown away by the panoramic views which delighted us when we walked in and indeed for the whole week we were there. The view was forever changing and despite a couple of rainy days it didn’t spoil our break. We were entertained by Kites, swallows, swifts and even a Deer romped past just in front of the Lodge. The bed was very comfortable and the sofas made it difficult to leave and explore the area!
From the back door there are numerous walks through the woods down to Gatehouse and beyond.
Many great places to visit nearby, the highlight for us were the Osprey’s at the Threave National Trust Nature Reserve.(Osprey’s will be there until August.) Well worth a visit at any time.

Just returned from another fabulous week in a Gatehouse Luxury Lodge.
The accommodation was superb as were the continually changing views out from the Fleet estuary and over the Solway.
We really enjoyed our time there once again and would reccommend it to anyone looking for a stay in this area where there is much to do.

Must book our next visit now before they are all taken up.

We just returned from an amazing weeks stay at ocean drive, it was a totally perfect spot for our family of five. Stunning views, beautifully finished accommodation, everything we needed and the weather was the icing on the cake.
James and Donald were so helpful throughout the booking process, nothing was too much trouble.

We’d absolutely be back, so much to do for children in the local area and the beaches are just a few minutes drive, fabulous place that I’ll be recommending to friends and family.

We were joined by our daughter and her family for a week at Ocean drive. We were very lucky with the weather and had a beautiful week bar one day. We thoroughly enjoyed the views from the lodge, especially the sunsets, which on a couple of nights were stunning. This was out third visit to the lodges, and as before we found the accommodation very spacious and comfortable. Our daughter enjoyed visiting a lot of her childhood haunts and introducing them to her daughter. We were all very sorry when the week was over.

We were attending a family wedding and needed a wheelchair accessible property. The chalet was perfect. It was spotless. The quality of the bedclothes and towels were the same as any top class hotel. The views are breathtaking.

Whilst we enjoyed our stay in the Lodge & exploring the area we feel a couple of things need improvement.
The approach ‘road’ on the shared access requires upgrading, most potholes you just couldn’t avoid.
All furnishings are of a high quality just lacking in quantity.

We had a wonderful 4 night break in Ocean Drive.

It was easy to book on the website and we received timely online communications from the management, and a friendly welcome on arrival from the host’s dad.

The 3 bedroom luxury lodge was ideal for our group getaway as it provided a very cosy and comfortable home with everything we needed. The room sizes were generous and very well equipped as stated on the website. We loved the open plan living.

The location of the lodge was perfect with amazing views. We enjoyed walking down through the Cally Woods to Gatehouse, exploring the beaches at Carrick and Sandgreen, and driving through the Galloway Forest Park. Gatehouse Station and viaduct in the Cairnsmore of Fleet National Nature Reserve is worth a visit.

We look forward to returning and thank the hosts for sharing Ocean Drive.
