Enjoyed two weeks in the summer holidays in this cosy house in this beautiful location next to the castle. Lovely walks and bike rides with the dogs in the surroundings and the castle garden. Fished in the river and lake (and caught trout ;-)) and thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed surroundings and extremely friendly people. The tour of the castle was very interesting and the annual Country Fair a welcome addition. We and our children had a super experience and look back on a wonderful holiday.

This is a really comfortable place to stay and very well equipped. We loved the view from the garden and the peace. Most of the time, the car stayed put and we made good use of the walking and cycling trails. It was great to be able to go for a woodland stroll in the evening. Although the castle itself and café were closed we had free access to the gardens and had a coffee there.

The cottage was lovely on the inside. It was very well taken care of on the inside and in the backyard. We loved it here! Extremely disappointed in the estate being closed and not being able to see the inside. Also, the construction team was very loud starting at 730 and 800 in the morning. There was only a mention of construction materials being on the property (which was no bother) but the banging on the roof was not ideal for our peaceful holiday. Disappointed in that, not being able to visit the estate and was VERY disappointed Rik’s bikes are no longer on the property. We were looking forwards to a bike trip together. Unfortunately we would not book here again.

Hats off to the Drumlanrig Estates team.
As you drive into the grounds there is a sense that they are cared for and maintained to an exceptional standard.,
The vista along the main drive is bucket list stuff on its own!
Laundry Cottage is set higher than the castle and you can just see the pink sandstone castle walls through the trees from the cottage garden. A properly fenced garden too (much to the frustration of our terrier dog who can put Houdini to shame!) but all that security made it a very relaxed dog holiday.
The cottage is outstanding a bit like the room of requirement from Harry Potter, if you think of something you needed, well there it was….
Everything felt new or well maintained, and full compliments the housekeeping team.
There’s even good TVs in every bedroom so never a quibble about what was being watched on the massive tv in the main living room. The icing on the cake is the hot tub, (it’s managed diligently by Simon, who also keeps the cottage garden looking smart) possibly the best positioned tub ever, as you could watch a myriad of wild life, rain or shine, while floating away the aches and pains of a walk through the estate.
Laundry Cottage was a truly relaxing place. Thank you.

I booked a short stay as a surprise for my husband’s birthday.

We stayed in Laundry cottage on the wonderful Drumlanrig estate. Prior to our booking, the office girls were extremely helpful and provided us with so much information. On arrival, the cottage was spotless, in a beautiful, quiet spot near the castle. Decorated and maintained to a very high standard, the accommodation was faultless.
The estate itself, is beautiful with fabulous walks and bike trails. It is also located in a very accessible spot.

Overall, a fabulous, relaxing break. We will most definitely be returning.

An excellent cottage for our family to relax and unwind after days spent on big walks and castle spotting. We loved games round the table and ooni pizza every evening after our sunset soak in the hottub. Tastefully furnished, well equipped and stunning views from every window.

We loved our stay at the Laundry Room, the garden was secure for our dog, plenty of space and a hot tub was a bonus.
The interior is modern and they have thought of everything in the kitchen probably better stocked than my own
You are provided with a large basket of logs for the log burner
The beds are very comfortable and duvet very warm.

The only negative I would say that there were 2 chesterfield type sofas with low back that wouldn’t seat 6 people you would have to use the dining chairs. Maybe a high back chair would help especially if you need support.

Great walks around the castle.

We will definitely return and we have had loads of friends asking about the property, highly recommend

Our stay at the Laundry Cottage was incredibly relaxing with our two dogs. The cottage itself was beautifully decorated for Christmas, very clean and well stocked. We had a magical 5 nights exploring the Drumlanrig grounds (a dog walkers dream!), relaxing in the hot tub and cosying up by the log fire (bonus that logs are offered daily to keep the fire topped up!). The location was perfect, just up the hill directly opposite the castle (which you can see through the trees) but felt incredibly private. The garden is fully enclosed which meant our two dogs could explore on their own whilst we relaxed in the hot tub (recommend the hot tub at night and watching the incredible view of the stars). The local village has a great Coop that helped us keep stocked up (especially on morning pastries). Couldn't recommend the cottage enough and we'd love to go back in the summer!

We had a fabulous stay in Laundry Cottage, loved its situation and the quietness and privacy. Very high standard of cleanliness, really comfortable beds with lovely bedding. There was nothing to dislike - the surrounding countryside with all the autumn colours was stunning. Pity we didn't see any red squirrels but hopefully we will next time we come to stay. The hot tub was also an added bonus. We hope to be back next year.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Laundry Cottage - it felt like home immediately. The decor and layout worked really well for us and the location was amazing - beautiful scenery and access to walks and cycling routes. Great family break! Accommodations were spotlessly clean, spacious and well furnished. As we had both children and dogs with us the large garden at Laundry Cottage was perfect! Pizza oven and hot tub were good fun! Staff were great, very friendly and helpful.
Grounds are beautiful for walking and our young ones loved the Adventure Playground.

We couldn't have asked for better, this cottage is tastefully furnished with everything you could ever need and very comfortable seating and bedding. Wonderful location and views, with walks from the cottage being as long or as short as you like. As the weather was so good, we ate out on the patio for every meal! I only wish we had been able to stay longer, but do hope to return.

This is a pretty exceptional property. We booked it for a special birthday celebration and it had everything we could wish for, all 3 generations loved it ( and the 2 Labradors)!
Incredible rural location, quiet with stunning views, a secure garden and easy access to woodland trails with pretty lochs.
Village of Thornhill a short drive away and we had a lovely meal out one night.
Kitchen well kitted out so we had a big roast dinner one night, the layout is great for chatting as you cook.
The hot tub was clean and checked daily by the lovely staff, we had a great sunny afternoon in it but also great for stargazing!
Beds and bedding super comfy/cozy and ultra smart decor.
We took advantage of the estate and visited the adventure playground and the castle gardens. Altogether a brilliant stay in a fantastic cottage

We had a very enjoyable stay at Laundry Cottage. My wife and I came down from Bearsden, our son and his girlfriend came up from Wales and our daughter, her husband, our grandson and their dog came down from Perth. We were having a family gathering for a few days to celebrate the birthdays of my wife and myself and we were looking for a south of Scotland location as this would slightly reduce the distance that our son would have to drive from Wales. Laundry Cottage was in a suitable location with three bedrooms and it looked very attractive with nice walks nearby and welcomed dogs. We found the cottage to be very well equipped and very comfortable with plenty of space and we were able to make use of the pizza oven and hot tub. We were able to go on all of the four walks, some more than once and we also visited some places in the surrounding area. Although there was quite a lot of rain while we were there, we had brought suitable boots and wellingtons so we were able to get out and about anyway. Laundry Cottage is a great place for a family group to stay.

We stayed in Laundry Cottage in the first week of August and were lucky enough to experience unusually warm weather for the South West of Scotland. Having said that, if it had been pouring with rain we couldn't have been better provided for by where we were. The cottage itself is clean, spacious and comfortable. Set up on a hill away from the Castle, it retains an air of privacy despite closeness to the action. On the door step are a wide ranging choice of activities to be entertained by, be it mountain biking, walking in the woods and hills, playing in the adventure playground or by the river. And the cottage provides all the amenities to deal with a day of outdoor fun. Plus, you can never underrate a hot tub! We really, really enjoyed ourselves!

Despite the dreadful weather last week and losing all the salmon fishing to the floods we had a lovely stay at Laundry Cottage. The grandchildren enjoyed the mountain biking and we had some memorable walks. The house was exactly what we wanted for a family stay and in a great location.

Its a surprise to find a cottage better in real life than on the website photos due to the inevitable wear and tear that occurs, but this one is an exception. Its obviously been renovated very recently and there is still some work going on in the garden (to accommodate a hot tub).
There is also now a huge parking area suitable for multiple cars.
This cottage is in a lovely peaceful location and despite it being semi detached we didn't hear any noise at all from next door.
There were a few minor niggles, including the duvet being way too thick and heavy for summer and the sofa being a bit uncomfortable, but overall the cottage is excellent and we would book it again.

We had a fantastic holiday at The Laundry Cottage, which was the perfect base for our Scottish holiday. There is lots to do on the estate, and in the wider area which are both very beautiful. The Cottage itself is very comfortable with lovely beds, bedding and towels, and it is tastefully and comfortably furnished. The kitchen has all the equipment that you need and everything is of a very good quality. Highly recommended.

Wow, amazing. If you like peace and quiet and are nature lovers then this is the place for you. Fantastic enclosed garden with dog walks straight into the woods and surrounding countryside. The property is delightful with everything you need, also it`s only a short drive to local amenities. We were the first people to stay here and although everything was not completely finished in the garden it did not detract anything from our stay and we look forward to returning again in the not too distant future. We would like to thank Erin for a great stay, we really loved it.
