‘Montagu’ has been newly renovated and updated to provide a modern and welcoming self-catering retreat for up to six guests and two dogs, across three bedrooms. The cottage is only minutes away from Drumlanrig Castle, and close to walks and trails. It is semi-detached, located next door to the popular Laundry Cottage, making it an ideal choice for larger groups or multiple families.

The cottage has been recently refurbished as is easy walking distance to the Castle where you can enjoy the tea rooms, a tour or even hire bikes to explore the estate.

It is warm and well equipped with washer dryer after a long muddy walk, and plenty of cutlery / crockery / cooking utensils if you wish to self cater.

If you are there on a Saturday morning, Parkrun has recently started and it is a beautiful course!

We are ever so grateful to the entire Drumlanrig and Queensberry team, in particular Alasdair, Gillian, Gordon and Betty. It was a truly special stay at Montagu and on the Queensberry Estate for our family. We cannot recommend any of the many holiday spaces on the Estate highly enough and equally visits to the beautiful Drumlanrig Castle and other attractions on the Estate. The efforts the Estate Team go to are what make things really special, and what sets Drumlanrig out from other places one could visit. They really do embrace the ethos of going the extra mile and in all our visits, with all our requests are yet to say no.

Thank you all, we look forward to our next trip.

My wife & I along with our four friends had a great midweek stay at the Montagu cottage as well as a lovely Evening BBQ prepared by Gordan and catering staff. The cottage was a great size and had a nice refurbished and fresh feel to it. The hot tub was a great feature to make use of even in the misty rain weather.
We would recommend to friends and family to enjoy in the future!

We rented both Montagu(for my husband and I) and Laundry Cottage for my daughter, husband and 3 teenage grandchildren. The cottages were beautifully furnished, comfortable and had everything we needed.
Their position on the Estate was perfect and the facilities second to none.
We had a wonderful time and send a huge thank-you to Gillian and her team for such a great experience.

We really recommend Montagu to you. Well appointed, spacious and very comfortable cottage and with fantastic outdoor space, too: patio, hot tub, BBQ, and amazing views across the estate.
We enjoyed just relaxing in and around the cottage, as well as walking on the well-marked estate pathways, exploring the gardens and indulging in the Castle tearooms.
This was a perfect retreat ! Thank you.

We have stayed in the adjoining property previously and loved it but it was not big enough for our expanding family so when the chance came to book the 2 cottages together we were immediately on the case!

Beautifully presented in an incredible setting these cottages tick every box and some we hadn’t even thought of.
Everything we needed for the family- and dogs, close enough to walk to the castle, tea rooms and playground but totally secluded too and easy access to the woodland walks.
The village is only ten minutes drive away with shops and pub grub.
If we could give 6stars instead of 5 we would but don’t tell anyone else how good it is- it should be secret

We stayed over Christmas and everything about Montagu Cottage was perfect for a festive break. Walking into the warm and welcoming cottage, with a lovely tree and decorations, curling up in front of the log fire, soaking in the lovely bath after a frosty walk and snoozing in the most comfortable bed ever made it into a wonderful family get together. And you also managed to provide glorious sunny frosty weather which just made the views even more stunning. We shall certainly be back.

From start to finish, our stay was absolutely fantastic! The booking process was seamless, with the staff offering incredibly helpful and prompt assistance. Upon arrival, we were blown away by the house—it was stunning, spotless, and radiated a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The little touches, like the thoughtful gifties, really added a personal and charming flair to the experience.

Though we were sad to leave, we were so impressed that we've already been in touch with the wonderful team at the estate to plan our next visit. Highly recommend.

Montagu Cottage is a fantastic base for a holiday. The accommodation itself is both incredibly stylish and very comfortable. A lovely colour scheme throughout which is very restful, but also full of flair. High ceiling and large windows mean the light floods in to the main living area. It is very well equipped with everything you'd need in the kitchen. Great night's sleep in the peaceful setting with generous and comfortable bedding.

There is an enclosed garden - great for dogs - and patio table and chairs. Set well within the estate, the only sound you will hear is birdsong.
Drumlanrig Castle is a few minutes walk with lovely gardens, a cafe, adventure playground, lots of walks and trails. The Castle is well worth a tour to hear about its fascinating history and see the world class art collection.
