Poppy Shepherd's Hut is a romantic hot tub break in peaceful rural Wales, away from the hustle and bustle. Enjoy dog friendly stays in Wales' outdoors capital Rhayader. With walks, cycling, fishing, kayaking and lots more to discover locally.

Immaculately presented, Poppy Shepherd's Hut is close to the popular beauty spots, and the spectacular Elan Valley. Gilfach Nature Reserve is a two mile walk from the doorstep and a little further on you will find Monica's Munchies and the River Marteg.

Poppy Shepherd's Hut has a private hot tub on a charming brick paved patio. Relax in the bubbles together under the starry night sky, or toast marshmallows over the fire pit as you make plans for the next day. Poppy Shepherd's Hut, along with the other glamping lodges on this site, make relaxing dog friendly places to stay. With enclosed gardens that allow your dog freedom to potter about.

Spark up the barbecue and dine al fresco on the outdoor seating. Stargazing is a must beneath these famously unpolluted dark skies.

Inside, the kitchenette includes a two ring hob, microwave/combi-oven, fridge, toaster and kettle. Indulge in a lie in with the doors thrown open to the great outdoors and fuel up with breakfast in bed before a day of exploring!

The shower room has a flushing WC, hand basin, heated towel rail & shower.

For those Autumn or Winter evenings, light up the cosy wood burner & relax on the dreamy king size bed in front of the smart TV. The perfect place to get stuck into your favourite Netflix series. Underfloor heating adds that extra feeling of luxury.

Looking to eat out? Check out the local market town of Rhayader for cafes, pubs & takeaways. The Lost Arc has pizza nights and live music and sitting right beside the River Wye it makes a great place for Sunday lunch after a riverside walk.

We loved the hut it had everything we needed and was very cosy! The secure garden was perfect for our little dog.

100% recommend anyone to give the site a visit and will definitely be returning next year for another break.

Amazing accommodation, the Poppy was immaculate inside and out. It was very warm with the underfloor heating and the log burner gave a nice boost when the temp dropped off at night. The hot tub area was great and it held its temperature really well too. The fenced garden would have been ideal for the dog so maybe take him next time. Locally there isn’t anything walking distance however there are a couple of great places to eat just 3 miles down the road. I would highly recommend the Lamb and flag and the Swan tea room.Overall very satisfied and already planning another visit.

We travelled here for a romantic get away, when we arrived everything was perfect, the sheets were nicely laid out and the key in the door ready for our arrival. Having a fenced area for Olaf was perfect as he could just potter round and play with his beloved toy and football. We explored the dams and the surrounding villages which was lovely, and the hot tub was amazing. The only downside was the annoying crow which woke us up every morning at around 7-8am, but besides from this it was a perfect stay! We also got the feeling that we needed to be out before the 10am check out as workers began to clean, cut grass and hedges which was very loud, and slightly annoying considering we were trying to have a slow wake up/ relaxing last morning.

We enjoyed our stay over the bank holiday weekend! The views were incredible and the site was so peaceful. We enjoyed exploring during the day and then coming back to relax in the hot tub in the evening! It was a well needed break, thank you!

First time staying in a Shepherds hut and will definitely repeat the experience. Lovely and quiet, hot tub is a nice touch. Stayed in Poppy and there was enough space for us and 2 dogs.
Had everything we needed for, well looked after with a perfect enclosed space so the dogs could run free. Good base for walks around the Elan valley area.

I booked poppy for 15th-17th December 2023 for my partners birthday as a surprise. I was blown away with the accommodation, it was so cosy! The snacks and Christmas decorations were a really lovely little touch, the area was beautiful. Hot tub was fab! Our pooch also came along for the getaway, it was brilliant, really didn’t want to leave. Can’t wait to return again in the summer! :)

We absolutely loved our stay at Poppy. The Shepard's hut was clean, cosy and the perfect place to relax for a few days. The fenced in area for the dog was also perfect. The location was great for walks and getting fresh air. We walked to see all the dams and also had a trip to Aberystwyth. Would definitely stay again.

Poppy is peaceful and in a beautiful location. Clean and provides everything you may need. Hot tub is fab.
Cooked breakfast hamper was lovely, would recommend.
The garden at Poppy is fully secure, and provided a great space for our dog to run around safely.
We will definitely be returning in the future.

Loved staying here! The pictures was a true reflection of the Shepards hut. It was nice to have an enclosed garden for the dog and not have to worry about them going off. Highly recommend staying here.

A peaceful location in the Welsh countryside. Accommodation was amazing. Very clean and comfortable, with everything you need. An enclosed garden so our dog was safe to walk around. Would definitely recommend.

What an absolute beauty of a place, so relaxing and comfortable, the hampers we ordered were amazing and the surprise on my wife’s face made it all worthwhile. Many thanks from Kolyn and Allison xxx
