We enjoyed our stay at barf cottage it was in a great location not far from Keswick, whinlatter and a great pub on the doorstep serving good food and beer
Accommodation was great with nice comfy beds, spacious kitchen and lounge
The only thing I would want to change is a bigger and smart TV in the lounge, but apart from that we enjoyed our stay and would stay again and would recommend

This was our 3rd stay in this lovely cottage which is deceptively large . Well styled and comfortable. Appreciated roll topped bath , well stocked kitchen and books / games . We prefer being a walk away from the crowds in Keswick but with no local shop it is a good idea to take the essentials along

A super cottage in a fantastic location. Our recent stay in Barf cottage exceeded expectations. It was warm, clean and had everything we needed. Even though the weather was rather damp it was so comforting to return to a warm and cosy cottage and have an open fire in the evenings. Excellent location for walks into Keswick, Lingholm (can recommend their breakfasts) plus Derwent Water and CatBells. Staff were friendly and most helpful when we decided to extend our stay.

Our stay at Barf Cottage, Portinscale, has again been a positive one. This cottage, which sleeps 5, is ideally situated just outside Keswick. It is well maintained and resourced with a private parking space, and we look forward to many more visits.

We have been to Barf Cottage 3 times and will come back again. It is a lovely location and handy for walks. the pub, tea rooms and a short walk to Keswick. There also regular bus services. We had an issue with the fire which meant we couldn't use it but staff were very responsive and helpful. The cottage is well equipped - especially the kitchen! The views from the upstairs bedroom are stunning

Named after the mountain, this is a wonderfully located cottage, beautifully turned out too. Yet another wonderful stay, whether climbing mountains or just popping into Keswick to watch a film or go for a meal, great spot.

We had such a lovely stay at Barf Cottage. It was really clean, in a great location with so much to see nearby. Walks directly from your doorstep, and so many great places to eat around too. The local pub is only a couple of doors down and has a great beer garden! The Keswick Cottages team were so helpful in recommending places to visit during our stay. I’d thoroughly recommend the cottage, as well as staying with Keswick Cottages again. Hopefully see you again soon!

Barf Cottage was cosy and welcoming, rooms were a good size and left us plenty of space so we didn’t feel like we were on top of each other.
Main bathroom was lovely and the bath was well appreciated.
Only major downsides were parking as it was quite tight for the main space and the space at the pub was always full with people visiting the pub which made staying with two cars very difficult. Also the broadband was painfully slow to non-existent at times, which coupled with lack of phone signal while in the house, made for communication being difficult.

We would have to agree, the lovely roll top bath is perfect for a soak after a busy day of exploring! The owners have now taken down the Summer house that was situated behind the allocated car parking space, which has really opened up the space and improved the parking area. I'm sorry to learn the broadband was slow, the owners have recently changed their provider so hopefully this will be an improvement on your next visit.

Barf Cottage was cosy, well appointed and very convenient for Keswick. The parking space was a real plus and we managed to get two VW Transporters in there comfortably.
Our dog loved it too !
We booked last minute and it really lived up to all our expectations.
Nothing to complain about.

On arrival we noted that the rooms were quite small downstairs - the photographs were obviously taken with a wide lens giving the impression of space.Would be a tight fit for 5 adults.
The cottage was warm and clean, kitchen well equipped however the sitting room furniture was less than comfortable.
Bedrooms were spacious and the beds were very comfy.
Good location at the bottom of Portinscale and good walks could be had from the door without using the car.

Great cottage a stones throw from Keswick. Spacious accommodation on 3 floors , well kept. Lovely old range in the lounge . Would book again .

We returned to Barf cottage for an Autumn hit of the lakes. The cottage has everything in spades and was lovely and warm when we arrived.

We had a lovely week in Barf Cottage. A tastefully decorated, clean and cosy place with plenty of space. The loft converted master bedroom has some lovely views of the surrounding fells. The cottage was well equipped and comfy. We had a tasty roast dinner at The Farmers Arms (2 mins walk away) on the Sunday evening. The Chalet (in the village) cooked up a great breakfast on the morning we left. It’s in a great location. We had a week of wonderful walks. Loved it here.

A nice homely cottage, well equipped. Good location and base to explore the area. Great walks from the door step. Nearby chalet cafe, less than ten minute walk provides quality food and drinks.
Also a stones throw from the cottage The Farmers Arms pub, serving good standard pub food.

Our 2 week stay was not marred by the weather as we’d packed for sun and rain, it was a perfect location for all the surrounding hills, we only used the car to do our weekly shopping. Barf Cottage was spacious, comfortable and cosy, with seating at the front and back we had everything we needed for a much needed holiday. We’ll definitely be booking again. The early and late checkin and out, was well worth the money as was the starter pack. Thank you Keswick Cottages for another wonderful holiday.

This cottage is perfect for a family stay in the Lake District. The cottage is very comfortable with a lot of loving details. There is plenty of space for your belongings. Keswick is a 15 min footwalk on a nice footpath away. Portinscale is a good central point to start hikes. I extremely enjoyed my morning coffee in the little wild garden. The other gardens left and right aren‘t half as pretty.

A nice cottage in Portinscale a one mile walk to Keswick. The cottage is clean and kitchen well provisioned. Beds comfortable and two large bedrooms and a nice single. Small outside area. Parking space provided is small but there is also parking near pub or roadside, both ok.

You can walk from the cottage to Derwentwater or Catbells or other local walks. Lots of walks nearby from Skiddaw to lakeside walks.

A nice cottage in a good location.

Roomy cottage with lovely courtyard garden and views. Looks just like the photos. Parked the car and then walked for the week, 1 mile pathway into Keswick was very handy. Visited pub across the road a few times and ate twice, good pub grub. A very relaxing break.

We loved out stay at Barf Cottage, it was perfect for 2 couples and a couple of dogs. The beds were comfy and the showers are great and it a very pretty 20 minute walk into Keswick. It is a graet location for walking Cats Bells, Latrigg and Skiddaw are all close by and there is a really nice pub over the road from the cottage so we could ask for anymore.

My friends and I rented the cottage for a week. The customer service team were very responsive to any questions we had. The cottage was perfectly sized, warm comfortable and we'll located. I would recommend staying here.

Lovely cottage, plenty hot water and had everything you could need in the kitchen! Beds were spotless with really comfortable mattresses. Bedding was top quality too.
Only thing I didn’t like were the stairs- they were not carpeted and it took a few days to get used to them, not suitable for anyone who is unsteady and be careful with children on the stairs. They are of course very steep but if carpeted I think they would feel safer! Everything else was bang on. Thanks for a lovely stay
