This is the second year in a row myself my partner and our two little dogs have stayed at Birchgate we wouldn’t stay anywhere else its in a quite little street just over the road from Fitz Park it’s in a brilliant location for town.

The house is very warm and welcoming with everything you need at hand in the kitchen modern appliances, it’s very clean, modern interiors and decor, beautiful bathroom you don’t feel like you’re staying in a holiday rental it feels like home we can’t wait to book up again for next year.

This year was made extra magical as we were there for the Keswick Christmas Lights Switch On so it was like a proper Traditional Christmas like my childhood.

This is an amazing little cottage.
We were delighted by it. There was everything that you could possibly need. and it was very stylish and comfortable. t was great to have a large number of dishes and cutlery so that we could fill the dishwasher and not run out of utensils.
The bed is very comfortable .
There were also considerations for our dog which were very welcome.
It's a short walk into town and there is a lovely park almost opposite.
I loved that there was a basket of knitting squares which I added some kitting and crochet to.
Altogether a great place to stay. stay.

We have stayed at Birchgate many times and really enjoyed our stay each time. We particularly appreciate the location close to town centre in Keswick and parking on site. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable and we noted and enjoyed the various improvements and updates this year. Service from Keswick Cottages was friendly and efficient as always. We had a great stay in Birchgate. The cottage is well equipped with everything you need for a great holiday. Parking our van in the drive was a bit tight but we managed. Definitely don't follow sat nav for the property details as it took us up a very small narrow drive, follow the instructions from the email! The only negative we would say would be the lack of bootroom/utility. Being the lakes it was wet and having a room to enter first with wet clothes, shoes and dog would be a bonus! But all in all it was a fabulous place to stay.

A lovely cosy cottage not far from the centre of Keswick. Recently refurbished and the colour scheme changed to green. It has been updated without losing the cosy nature of the cottage. Has everything you need for a wonderful stay. Keswick Cottages staff are very helpful, professional and friendly and we wouldn't stay anywhere else in the Lake District. 10 out of 10 as always. Already booked again for 2025.

We had a lovely short break at Birchgate. It is very cosy and the open fire was great. Short walk into Keswick centre too. Would recommend.

We have stayed at Birchgate many times over the years. On our last visit the property needed updating and redecoration. This has been carried out to a high standard and as a result we were extremely impressed and as a family had an excellent time. As usual excellent service from Keswick Cottages and we will definitely be back.

We had a lovely stay at Birchgate. The cottage is really well equipped, especially the kitchen.
It is cosy and warm.
The cottage was spotless and tidy.
Great to have parking and an enclosed garden.
The location is great, right next to the park and the town centre. Loads of walks without having to take the car anywhere. We and our dog loved it and hope to stay again.

Better instructions for location of heating timer would have helped. Also was told couldn’t use 2nd bedroom but no offer of reduction in cost.

We sincerely apologise if there was any misunderstanding regarding the second bedroom, when we contacted you ahead of your stay it was just to see whether anyone would be sleeping in the twin room as the new blind had not arrived in time. We had sourced a spare one to use if the room was needed, but you let us know that there was just 2 adults staying using the master bedroom so that would not be necessary. All the instruction manuals and heating control instructions are available on the tablet provided, but we're a small local agency just up the road if there is anything you need help with during your stay. Have stayed many times before - a comfortable and cosy cottage with parking and close to Keswick centre. Plenty of walks from the door too. There were some dog hairs as pets are allowed. Overall, well equipped and furnished.

We arrived at the property and where impressed with its close location to the centre of Keswick. The property is access by vehicle down a narrow lane. Reverse parking into the bay outside the property is advised this will make entry into and exit from the bay easier. The ground floor was accessed via the kitchen and very nice it is. It is also the eating area. Upstairs the bath was a lovely after a days walking. The bed was most comfortable also. We had a lovely stay and would stay here again.

Quiet location but still very convenient for the centre of town (less than 10 minutes walk). Well equipped kitchen. The bedrooms are conformable with plenty of storage. Front room well furnished and comfortable. Overall an excellent holiday cottage.

Second time at Birchgate.
Is very near to town centre and the lovely Fitz park so ideal location and there is a parking slot outside which is a bonus in Keswick.
The kitchen is large and has all the necessary equipment although a small freezer box wouldn’t be amiss.
The cottage is cosy although could do with a little tlc.
The bathroom is a good size but could do with a little cosmetic attention, also the water won’t stay in sink and the water pressure for shower is poor and changes from hot to cold,
The double bed is uncomfortable but that may be personal preference.
Like I said this was a return visit but mainly due to location.

Our family of four (with 3 year old and 8 month old baby) loved our stay in this lovely cottage which was a bit larger than we were expecting. Having a parking spot on the drive is invaluable in the busy Keswick residential area and helped with quick hops in and out of the car if it was raining with the kids.
The kitchen is very good, clean and well equipped. Super to have a dishwasher and good washer-dryer.
Lounge nice and comfortable, good smart TV.
Beds comfortable and bathroom a good size for kids bathtime.
Would stay again.

Well, since it is so many years we have stayed at Birchgate, there must be something good about it. But it's not just the cottage, it's the customer service you get from Keswick Cottages.

Even where there is an issue (once, the bathroom sink was blocked, another was when the kitchen inventory didn't match with what was there), Keswick Cottages were quick and efficient in resolving the problems.

For us, with disability issues, being able to have a private car park space in the front garden is a big plus.

If you wake up early with sunlight (and don't want to), then bringing portable blinds is a good idea even though the bedroom curtains have "blackout" lining because the gaps around the edges of the curtains and the window frames are big.

We enjoyed our stay at Birchgate Cottage, very comfortable clean and tidy.
I did ring the office to say that the carpet area at the bottom of the stairs was very dirty they would
have sent somone to clean but as it did not affect us we were happy to leave it .
All in all a very enjoyable week.
Parking space a bonus in Keswick!

The cottage is in a great location although parking space tight for a large car. The week we stayed one of the hottest ever so not happy that none of the downstairs windows or bathroom opened as locked and painted shut. Unable to have a good shower as pressure poor and temperature went from boiling hot to cold by itself . Lovely cottage but needs a bit of tlc and maintenance.

Our elderly dog loved it, especially as there were large rugs on the laminate flooring so she didn’t slip. The location was perfect for her and loved her jaunts to the park opposite to watch for rabbits! The lake was within walking distance for her too.

i would just like to say, we had a perfect stay in your cottage, everything was good for our stay, the beds were the best i've slept in, in a cottage, the little cleaning box and coffee and tea were very good, space in the cottage was enough for us, all the equipment was good, we will book again.

i would like to thank you for a great week in the lakes, sometimes its needed, and your cottage helped to relieve the stress.

Lovely warm cosy cottage in a fab location
Very welcoming from moment of walking in.
Clean and very comfortable sofas and bed.
Only problem I had was getting the bath water hot.
And I would recommend a dressing table light for doing hair and make-up.
Otherwise than that I would highly recommend and Keswick cottages were spot on

The Birchgate cottage was in a good location with an enclosed garden and off road parking, the cleanliness overall was OK except for the living room, we had to take up the rug as it was filthy and the wood floor was covered with dust and hair which we had to clean and pull out the furniture , which was disappointing, the curtains in the bedroom need to be thicker as there's a street lamp outside the property which lights up the room . the kitchen was well equipped but was in need of some bigger bowls for porridge and soup etc , overall we had an enjoyable stay .

Lovely location . Very easy for town centre and walks to Braithwaite and Walla cragg from door .
Very comfortable bed and warm and cosy inside .
Every amenity you could ask for .. except microwave dishes .
The curtains in the main bedroom are tired as is some of the deco and they let in the light from the security light on the neighbours yard opposite so until you get used to it .. not a good nights sleep .. carpets need a deep clean or replaced and there were for my liking a bit too many ornaments in the main bedroom and windowsills that could easily break .
Off road parking a bonus and quiet at night .

We have used Keswick Cottages a couple of times now and their customer service is second to none. They are so knowledgeable on all their properties . Birchgate was ideal fir what we needed, a little base walking distance to Keswick over Christmas. It had the essentials needed, parking with enclosed garden for the pup. The lovely open fire was n added bonus. Would sty here again for sure.

Our third time in this house, it is really cozy, clean and just a minute's walk to the centre. Quiet too.

Perfect for a couple or young family - 4 adults might find the accommodation a bit cramped.
Not sure how warm the property would be for a Winter stay.
As usual in an older property a little TLC would not go amiss in a few places but this in no way detracted from our stay.

We have been staying at Birchgate since 2015, returning as we love the cottage so much. It is within easy walking distance of the centre and Derwent Water. Keswick Cottages are always helpful and were very quick to sort out the leaking boiler we had during our 2 week stay even though it happened on a Sunday. We have already booked another two week break for March 2023 as we love staying there so much.

I have stayed at Birchgate numerous times over the last 8 years and have always found it a pleasant experience, the location is perfect. The enclosed garden is excellent for the dogs and off street parking makes it such an easy place to stay at.
