Lovely stay we had at this cottage. Easy to find with onstreet parking and a 10 min walk to centre. Very comfortable, cozy and warm, comfortable beds and well equipped kitchen. Spacious downstairs and little patio area. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Another cosy short break at Byways. Raining again but we can only afford to go out of the peak seasons! The cottage was very clean as usual and has everything we need. Location is walking distance from all facilities and there is plenty of street parking. I think people have mentioned this before but it would be good if arrival time could go back to 2pm instead of 4pm so that some of the first day could be enjoyed

We do offer an Early Check-In at 2pm for a charge but the 4pm Check-In time allows our cleaners to have plenty of time to prepare our cottages for our guests. Facilities excellent. Clean and spacious for the two of us. Enjoyed our stay there.
Recommend the place and certainly will return there. Close to shops, food stores and walks.

This is my 4th stay with Keswick cottages, Byways being the smallest cottage so far, location good very quiet at night patio area very small so no good for dogs. The owners need to provide instructions for appliances on the tablet or paper instructions in a drawer as these come in very handy when needed.

The cottage was lovely and cosy. The location was great for activities and walking the dog. We really appreciated the little hamper left for us. We would definitely return :)
Unfortunately we couldn't get the dishwasher to work but this didn't affect out stay.

We have stayed at Byways numerous times. It’s always spotlessly clean and well presented on the first day, also with a handy kitchen essentials pack. Sofas are comfortable for a rest at the end of a long walk, unless you did that in the pub! Beds are comfortable so you get a good sleep to recover for the next days hike! Great location for a 5-10 walk to the town centre, or an hour in the opposite direction to the top of Walla Crag. We’ll be back again soon!

This is our 2nd stay at Byways and it didn’t disappoint! It’s a lovely property with a very homely feel. Well set out with everything you need for your stay. It’s was great to see the glasses had been fully stocked as this was an issue in 2022. We would also like to highlight that The cafeteria is broken at the spout.. this we noticed on the first day when it was washed it out, resulting in a cut my finger. Due to the depth of the cut a trip to Boots and a chat with the pharmacist was required. We would recommend that this is replaced with immediate effect

There is plenty space for 4 people (adults) and the beds a comfortable albeit two of the pillows on each of the beds are too soft and offer no support. Not our preference.

Overall, we really enjoyed our 2 week stay and settled very quickly. Thank you!

Our cottage in Keswick delivered above our expectations! It was well prepared for meal prep and dining. The beds offered a good night sleep after hiking. The location was an easy walk to the city park and downtown businesses.

We’ve been staying at Byways every May now for long as I can remember. It’s the perfect base to explore the Lakes, with loads of walks on the doorstep. It’s a real home away from home, with everything you’ll need during your stay. The garden is a real bonus esp with having dogs - lovely little sun trap for a drink & relax at end of long walk in the sun.

We've stayed here a few times over the years, and the only issue we've ever had is that the bathroom is dated. This is no longer the case, and has now been fitted with a stylish modern bathroom. All around the house has everything you need. Fully equipped kitchen, comfortable living room and dining room area. Very comfortable beds. Just a 5 minute walk into town. The views surrounding the house are amazing, and on street parking has never been an issue. Will continue to stay here whenever we are in Keswick.

Good location, easy to park, quiet road.
Extremely clean, with plenty of utensils and the house furnished like a home, rather than a renter.
Would definitely re-book if returning to Keswick.

We've been using this company for many years now, and have stayed at Byways for at least 3 years, but it's the little things that just aren't there, which could improve the whole experience.
During Covid, check-in was pushed back to 4pm for additional cleaning, and since has never been brought forward. It's really frustrating as it's almost the whole first day of the visit before you can check in. I travel a lot in the UK, and hotels are typically 1 or 2pm, and it's frustrating having to wait most of the day before accessing the property.
I think providing 1 loo roll for a family of 4 for 5days is a bit poor, and not providing and hand soap in the bathroom is also a bit of a letdown. Also being asked to strip beds before leaving, I don't is something guests should be asked to do.
These are all minor things, on otherwise a lovely stay, but it's the little things that separate a good stay to a great stay :)

Byways is situated close to the centre of Keswick with a nice quiet street for parking. The cottage is very well equipped and perfect for 2 or 4 people. Although the beds were comfortable we noticed that the slats underneath the mattress were sliding about because the tape holding them in place at some time had been broken (but not by us). This will need stabilising at some stage. Otherwise everything was very satisfactory and we will be back again

Lovely warm and cosy cottage, short walk into centre of Keswick, well equipped kitchen, lounge cosy with lots of games books and dvds. Bedrooms were clean and comfy, twin room has tv on the wall lots of hangers in wardrobe would definitely book again

Beautiful house in a very quiet location in Keswick. This cottage felt like a home from home, very comfortable everything you need in the kitchen snug living room and comfortable beds and a lovely bathroom. Small court yard garden lovely for a drink in the morning.

We have stayed at Byways several times so it really does feel like a home from home. This time we had a short break at the end of November so it was no surprise that it rained most of the time! However, we had come prepared with all our waterproof walking gear so enjoyed some good walks in fabulous scenery including Walla Crag, Buttermere and Whinlatter Forest. It was nice to have a cosy place to come back to. We also visited the Dog and Gun three times and enjoyed their goulash, as well as their lovely Loweswater Gold. Well, walking is thirsty work! Hope to visit Keswick again soon in better weather!

The 2 of us stayed in Byways with our dogs and couldn’t fault the layout of the cottage, location or how it was furnished and set up.

Really good holiday at keswick and cottage in a great spot with everything you need inside.

There were a couple things to make it better. The floors downstairs were tidy when arrived but hour after walking on floor without shoes on and socks /our feet were black so it was clear floors hadn't been washed.

The little garden is a great feature but needs some attention and a tidy. The washing line holder was really dirty although we didn't use it the garden area needs some care.

Enjoyable stay in a great location.

This was our second stay at Byways, a very lovely and well located cottage with an easy walk into town or to Derwentwater (take the path beside the Church for a shortcut).

The bed linen was spotless and beds very comfortable. The kitchen was equipped for every need. Since our last visit they have even added a Nespresso machine which for me is a definite bonus but unfortunately I had taken ground coffee with me for the cafetière. On our last visit we marked it down due to only being able to get lukewarm water in the bath but we got it sussed this time. Our tip is to let the bath water run slowly not at full flow and there will be hot water a-plenty. For anyone who prefers a shower, the over bath shower is great with a powerful supply of hot water. The stair gate was a bit of a faaf to operate but invaluable to stop our dog going upstairs. There is only on street parking but on both of our stays we easily parked right outside the cottage.

Great location, parking on doorstep,quiet street but close to centre, 5 mins walk.

Property with all items needed for eating in, dog friendly & lovely & clean.Small court garden for sitting out, we had terrific weather for March very lucky..

Didn't want to leave, but will return for next break in Keswick, lots of walks still to complete.
