This impressive contemporary haven enjoys an idyllic location on the banks of the river Greta, with a fabulous garden where you can enjoy the serene setting.

That garden…. If you have dry weather it just stunning.
Lovely stay at Greta House, great location.
The back bedroom view is amazing.
Parking not the best but we could always get a space.
Keswick cottages always on hand with any queries.
The only downside for us would be pillows… only because I prefer them firmer.
Also in the warmer weather a fan in the bedrooms would be a great addition.

Hi Andrea, Thank you for your review. The garden at Greta House is certainly a very impressive feature. If you have the weather it is the perfect place to unwind with a glass of wine and watch the wildlife on the river after a day of exploring the area. The bus stop just up from the house makes it easy to explore the Lakes without the hassle of taking the car. Having a pub that serves food and a shop just over the road is also very handy. We hope you had a fantastic stay! Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

Greta Cottage is lovely, a smashing garden which leads down onto the shallow river. Lovely garden furniture. It’s not fenced from the neighbours so dog needs to supervised always when in the garden.
The cottage is furnished to a very high standard. The beds very comfortable.
Only downside is it’s on a busy main road. We were able to park on the little road opposite and was able to walk safely into Keswick once crossed over the main road and up onto the old bridge behind the petrol station.
Would definitely stay again

Hi Helen, Thank you for your review. Greta House is in a lovely location, right on the bank of the river Greta. The garden is the perfect place to unwind with a glass of wine after a day of exploring and watch the wildlife. The old railway line is just over the road behind the Spar where you can walk in to town or walk in the opposite direction to Threlkeld, where there are two country pubs serving great food. There are bus stops just up the road so no need to move your car until it's time to go home. We hope we can welcome you back again soon! Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

We loved relaxing in the garden and using the fantastic BBQ. Beautiful house, and really comfortable. The house was well equipped although an airer to dry the clothes and a bread knife would have been useful.

Hi Naomi, Thank you for your review. The garden at Greta House is the perfect place to relax and watch the wildlife on the river after a day of exploring Keswick or hiking up the fells. The Twa Dogs pub opposite is a great option for if you don't fancy cooking or wandering too far in to town. We hope you enjoyed your stay. Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

Beautiful cottage on the river Greta. We loved our stay. Everything really clean. The house itself is compact but the garden is expansive which is quite rare in Keswick.we loved all the beautiful garden furniture in the glorious weather. My only improvements would be space to store food, better kitchen knives, another set of cutlery/glasses so you don’t have to be washing all the time.

Greta House was everything we hoped would be. We had the loveliest stay. Attention to detail in this property was amazing and having beautiful garden with river at bottom was a massive plus. Lovely seating area at bottom where had lovely snooze. Seating area through the bifolding doors was lovely my only wish is I wish had time to use the amazing gas barbecue never seen the likes of. Owners you can see have spent a lot time, thought and money on Greta house I loved hidden bar and hot drinks area. Thank you for lovely stay. Tony Mary Watson

We had an amazing stay in Greta House. It is newly refurbished to an extremely high and contemporary standard. The owners have gone way above the finish you would expect to find in holiday rental. The linen, duvets, towels crockery and glassware are really high quality.

The house is small but there are two lovely bathrooms and decent sized bedrooms. The downstairs open plan living space is fantastic and includes two large comfy sofas, log burner, bar, pantry cupboard, coffee tables, smart TV, and bi-fold doors out to the garden. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could need including an induction hob and air fryer. The bed in the bedroom at the back of the house is HUGE and there is full height window that opens onto the garden. The garden is stunning and slopes down to the river Greta. The garden has a dining table and comfy sofa. For dog owners - the garden is not enclosed.

One thing to note - the house is on a busy main road and there is traffic noise in the house (but not in the bedroom at the back). We live near to a main road at home and so the noise didn't trouble us but it might be an issue if you are used to a quieter environment. In addition, there are a few parking spaces over the road and while we did not have any issues with parking in February, it might be different in peak season.

An amazing stay and we will certainly be back.

Thank you so much for your amazing 5* review of Greta House, we are so happy to hear you had a fantastic stay! The recent refurbishment at the property has been completed to a very high standard with guest needs at the forefront of their designs. It is also in a fantastic location being on the river Greta but also a stones throw away from everything Keswick has to offer. In terms of parking we do find even in the summer there will always be somewhere to park so do not worry! We look forward to your next stay! Best Wishes, Keswick Cottages

Greta House is a well presented property within walking distance of the town. The town can be accessed via the Threlkeld to Keswick old railway line, following the river path or via the main road. Parking is opposite the house on a short street which can park around seven cars. We had no difficulty finding a parking space but this might be more tricky in busy periods. The Twa Dogs car park is also opposite the House and may allow parking but we had no reason to enquire about this. The House is adequately equipped. The bedrooms and bathrooms are also adequately equipped. We found the House to be warm and comfortable. The garden is lovely with views and access to the river and benefits from garden furniture.
