Charming peaceful Victorian cottage in an idyllic location on the banks of the river Greta , enjoy the tranquillity of the river setting but a mere ten minutes flat walk to the town centre.

Living room / kitchen was well designed and worked well for our party of 4 visitors. We hired riverside last year and got to know Michael and Daphne quite well and loved the the personal touch that they brought. Lydia's s cottage was prob a bit on the small side for " olldies" but we managed fine.

If we were to make a suggestion for the future we found strange dust covered stuff under the bed in the double room which was a bit off putting. My wife also spent some time cleaning the hose from the shower which was covered in black mould. These points might be disturbing to others and should be addressed.

We enjoyed our week and the communications from you had a very friendly feel which made us seem valued.

Thank you for your kind comments and taking the time to review the cottage and service. The owners have certainly done a wonderful job in creating a comfortable home from home, and the idyllic river side location is the icing on the cake! It is actually insulation underneath the double bed as the boiler is inside the cupboard below. The owners tend to set the heating to come on at 7.00 AM, and did not want guests wakened. The owners also refreshed the shower sealant last week, replaced a tarnished chrome fitting and polished the head and hose. Please know we are a small local company just up the road, so never hesitate to contact us as we would have made sure this was sorted straight away. We hope to welcome you again very soon!

Wow! Such a warm and welcoming cottage. Ideal location on the edge of Keswick. Parking for 2 cars a added bonus.
The cottage has a comfy home from home feel.
Very well presented with quality fitting. Views from front and back glorious.
Ideal for the 4 of us and being dog friendly was just what we wanted.
I would definitely recommend and looking forward to returning again.

We really enjoyed our break at Lydia's River Cottage the weather wasnt the best but we managed to get out for walks and a browse around Keswick shops, the Christmas lights are always so lovely! The cottage was very cosy and well equipped, we had a small issue with the gas fire which was dealt with very promptly by Michael the owner who very quickly resolved the problem he couldn't have been helpful and we enjoyed chatting about the cottage.
The cottage is about a 10-15 walk into town along the road but there are also footpaths within easy reach which take you into the countryside and park, we would definitely return to this cottage as we felt it met all our expectations

Had a lovely week stay in Cottage . Very cosy and a perfect location .
The only thing that was missing which would have been useful was a bench at the front of house .

We stayed during October half term. We were stunned by the beautiful wall of autumn colour from the rear of the house and the river is so lovely
Great location if you want to distanced yourself from the centre. Only 15 mins by bike along the railway path into town with the kids (3 & 5 years).
Road noise is loud but sound of river does balance it out.
Newly refurbished and has everything you would need. Gas fire didn’t work.
Beds really comfy but double is a small double - adults would be better in the twin room and kids share small double.
Overall lovely little cottage, stunning river views and all the comforts you need. Definitely recommend!

We can just imagine how stunning those views were from the patio with all the Autumn leaves on show across the river, you picked a great time to visit! We bet that the little ones loved cycling into town, it's a great path away from the traffic. I'm sorry that you couldn't use the fire during your stay, as a small local agency based in central Keswick we are always happy to assist if there are any problems, so never hesitate to contact us if you need anything :-) the master bedroom is furnished with a standard double bed, just a touch smaller than a king but we hope that it still provides a very comfortable sleep! We have used Lydia's as our Lake District holiday base every year since 2005, some times twice in a year. Ideally situated with amenities very local, yet it is a short walk into Keswick and there is a pleasant route via Fitzpark if you can know the way. The cottage is well presented, comfortable, always immaculate with all necessary equipment & facilities that make it " Home from Home". We know the owners personally and we are now very satisfied with the way and means that Keswick Cottages present the letting, nothing is too much trouble for them. The cost is the local average but it offers and pleases ourselves a lot more, there is a fantastic ramble just outside your door, the upgraded railway track a pleasant walk to Threlkeld and you can then catch the bus to return. I would thoroughly recommend a stay there, as long as you don't compromise my booking (LOL). Hopefully our annual pilgrimage will allow us many more years of pleasure, thank you very much the staff at Keswick Cottages.

We had a lovely stay at Lydia’s River Cottage. The cottage was very welcoming with all the amenities and a lovely garden over looking the river. It was ideally located with a 10 minute walk into Keswick where there are variety of places to eat and market on Thursday. There are plenty of places to walk, including Derwent Lake and good bus routes to Ullswater and a 60 minute drive to Scarfel pike.This was our first visit to Keswick, we packed in a lot in a few days and would return to stay, I would highly recommend Lydia’s Cottage.
