Set back in a quiet courtyard, this two bedroom bungalow sleeps 2-3 people and is ideally positioned for all the town centre has to offer.

Just what we needed!

My sister and I wanted to take our fairly recently disabled mother on a little holiday to give my dad, who is her full time carer some much needed respite.
I spent hours searching for a property that catered for my mums unique needs. Lots of properties say they are wheelchair friendly or disabled friendly and it’s only when you interrogate the photos and you realise it’s not what you actually need. The handrails maybe on the wrong side, there is a gravel drive, a walk in shower but it’s actually a shower tray…… I found it incredible difficult and frustrating. I came across Sam’s cottage via one of my many google searches and reached out to the team with various questions. All were answered promptly, honestly and with friendliness and professionalism.
The property was absolutely perfect for what we needed and whilst there were a few less aids than what she has at home (bed raiser/standing chair) between me and my sister we managed it. My mum had a really lovely time, sadly since her accident the vast majority of her time is spent sitting in front of the tv at home. Keswick itself was by far our favourite villages, we visited a few during our stay. The location of the cottage could not of been anymore perfect, with everything you need literally on the doorstep.
The contact from the team was perfectly timed and toned, ensuring we were all ok and if there was anything further they could do.
We have said that we would like to make this an annual arrangement with my mum, I hope we get the opportunity to do so.
The postcode only takes you so far then you have to carefully follow the instructions, these could be perhaps a little clearer with a photo included of the alley way would be useful- you need to pay attention. Keep your eye open for Sultan Indian restaurant on the left, the turning to the alleyway is immediately opposite on the right. A gap between a gallery and wood house pizza, there are remnants of green writing on the wall of the alleyway . We drove past without realising then found ourselves in a predicament with no doubling back as it was a one way system and no mobile phone reception to go back to the post code and try again. Signal on all 3 of our phones was non existent. We didn’t eventually find it, the alleyway is tight, wing mirrors needed pulling in. My car is a Kia Xceed. If you drive a 4x4 you would not get the car down the alley way. Also people did on occasion park outside the sultan restaurant on double yellows opposite the entrance to the alley which makes manoeuvring into the alley absolutely impossible. Whilst this is mentioned on the website I think it should perhaps include measurements or a photo. Had I of driven 4 hours then not been able to get my car down the alleyway it would be a very different review. It wasn’t actually a problem for us and bore no negative impact on our visit whatsoever BUT it could for others with larger vehicles.
Overall our stay was absolutely perfect, Keswick cottages were a delight to deal with. Rebecca was particularly helpful. We are very much planning on visiting again.

I was impressed with the welcome of the Keswick Cottages staff and the efforts they made to make our stay good.
I was very grateful for the support and help they provided.
The bed was a large King size providing a luxurious night's sleep.
The cottage was well kitted out and a large wetroom welcomed us after a long day out.
The cottage was beautifully clean and the welcome packs were much appreciated.

Stayed at Sams cottage last week for a week. There was myself and my husband and out 2 dogs. It's a lovely little cottage and very comfortable. You can't get a better locacation. Right in the hub of keswick. Although right in the hub, it was very quiet. Very easy check in and out. The cottage has absolutely everything you need even down to lovely starter pack tea coffee, etc. Also, clothes were washing up liquid, etc. The only tiny irritation was that our pickup was too big to get down the narrow lane to the house and no parking on the streets nearby. As is life nothing is perfect lol.We are actually now planning to go back in Nobember as its such a lovely place to stay. A real home frim home.

Sam's Cottage is compact and cosy. I did have a problem with a squeaky bed frame but the team at Keswick Cottages were quick to resolve this as much as they could. A great central location. Well equipped kitchen. We did struggle to park our big car as the alley is rather narrow!

Sams cottage sits in an excellent location in the centre of Keswick. Not directly off the street, but through a narrow archway. Convenience store across the road any many restaurants and bars only feet away. The lake is approx 15min walk away.
Cottage is well equipped and comfortable, however would benefit from a king sized bed. If you bring a dog the only close green space is St John's Church which is 5 mins up the road.

Really lovely cottage, thoughtfully adapted. Just about perfect. BUT parking was not suitable for a large wheelchair adapted vehicle. We couldn’t get ours down the access road. The road was too narrow. We had to park on the main road, unload our equipment and bags, then find somewhere to park. The letting agents were very good. They supplied us with a parking permit for our two week stay. Luckily, family were able to meet us at the end of our holiday and assist with moving all our equipment etc out of the cottage.
We loved the cottage but feel it should be made very clear that parking is not suitable for large WAVs.

The access was a problem and we slightly damaged our car on the last day.would have liked a bigger double bed but otherwise a good stay and very handy to the centre.

I feel that lighting under kitchen wall cabinets would be a benifit as that area is dar
Also blackout blinds would be appreciated in bedroom as awakened at 5.30 am with daylight.
Felt that there was a smell from drain in bathroom sink .
When I pulled suitcase from under bed it was covered in dust .
Unfortunately there was a power cut when we were at cottage and there was no torch to help with visibility and emergency number we contacted returned our call next morning which did not help the situation.
Apart from these issues we love Keswick and hope to return next year to Sam’s Cottage as it is a perfect accommodation for my son’s needs.

The cottage is lovely however the road to it is very narrow. I scratched my car badly, my fault. When turning right, stop and reverse to line your car up correctly, you may annoy other impatient drivers but do it to save the cost of car repair when you get home. The shower room is suberb but the wash basin is very small. There's 1 entrance & no garden for dogs. It hadn't been cleaned throughly before we arrived, but the cleaner was sent in to rectify matters. Other local holiday makers used the bins I thought were ours. Plenty of room in the lounge/kitchen to fit the dog beds we took with us and it didn't look over crowded. I have complained here, mentioning all my groans, but really a well equipped apartment right in the centre of Keswick. What more could you ask for!

Sam's cottage is a great location. You can just leave your car parked and not move it all week. The alley way is a bit tight to get down though.

Thank you so much for your review for Sam's Cottage. We are so glad you found your stay comfortable and that you had everything you needed. We understand it is a narrow alleyway and do advise that only medium to small cars use that allocated parking space. If you cannot use that car parking space, we do provide one parking permit for the long stay car parks. We hope to welcome you back soon!

Lovely place and great location. Very clean and spacious. Could have done with an alternative to the sofa. Maybe an armchair for those that struggle to get up off a sofa. Driveway is extremely narrow and anything wider than a Polo will struggle.

A very nice well presented modern cottage right in the heart of Keswick. This is in an excellent position with shops, pubs & restaurants on your doorstep. There is even a well stocked open all hours store just through the arch across the street.
As mentioned before the access through the arch into the parking area is fairly tight, however we took our SUV through slowly with room to spare either side turning quite easily once in.
This cottage is equipped with good set up for mobility, which helped my 91 year old dad move around and access the rooms and bathroom.

Sam's cottage is a good, central location with comfortable bed, sofa and excellent showers.
Thank you to Keswick cottages staff member for hearing our concerns and supplying some kitchen utensils that were missing when we arrived.
Starter pack of washing up liquid, dishwasher tabs and one loo roll only go so far, so be prepared to take extras unless you want to buy more once in Keswick.
Our big issue was with the narrow access to the property, as mentioned on previous reviews. Despite being forewarned we scraped our car on arrival ( not the best start to the week!).
A measurement of the width of the alley would be helpful as we don't consider our car to be large (Seat Leon). On arrival you need to be prepared to align your car at right angles to the street and approach the alley straight on, trying not to squash any passing pedestrians on St. John's Street (of which there are many on Saturday afternoon).

A lovely single storey property, very spacious and well adapted for wheelchair users. In a great central location but a very narrow back street to reverse down to park.so once we were parked the car stayed put! All clean and comfortable for most, although I walk with crutches and have bad hip arthritis so the sofa was very low down for me and difficult to get up front. Everything was welcoming and clean. I would definitely recommend it as the location is brilliant with shops, cafes and restaurants on the doorstep and lovely walks minutes away which the rest of the family and the dog loved!

A lovely well fitted bungalow well situated within easy reach of all facilities. But VERY NARROW concealed entrance ( with no warning ). Fittings good but in wheelchair I found the wash basin to small & low with no adjoining shelf for tooth brush etc.
A map would help find property in very busy streets. Generally very good.

The flat is accessible for wheelchair users as advertised, clean and spacious and very handy for central Keswick.
BUT
The interior is probably designed for a wheelchair user with a carer - for example it is not possible to reach the shower controls from the shower.
The alley into the yard is very narrow - OK for a small car but you won't get a van type WAV down there. Once you are in the yard it is very difficult to turn round, it's only possible if the neighbour's car isn't there.
The equipment was strangely lacking in essentials, no teapot, cafetiere or breadknife! The oven is very slow.
Recommendation is Yes but beware, especially the narrow access.

Ideally located for the town. Walks can be started right from the doorstep. very warm and plenty of hot water.

Only challenge is getting a car down the alleyway to use the allocated parking space. Bring a small car!!
