A really well presented lodge moments away from some great walks. We stayed for 4 nights in December and had a lovely time! It is easy enough to get into Keswick and at this time of year secluded enough. It is next to a caravan park so in the summer may be a bit busier!
The beds were very comfortable, as was the lounge area. The only things I would like to have been made aware of beforehand were that after about 8am the internet connection (Wi-Fi) is basically non-existent until the late evening, fine if you're out all day but we had trouble downloading walking routes after breakfast for the day, which was a bit frustrating! And that there is a hot water booster that needs to be used unless you are showering/having a bath first thing in the morning!
These are only minor issues and we would likely book again in the future.

We are really sorry that there were some problems with the wifi, we have been investigating this with a local engineer since receiving your review and it does appear that there were some issues with connection during the dates of your stay. The owner is also organising a further investigation into this to make sure that this isn't a problem for future guests. We'd love to have you back again and want to reassure you that our friendly team are always happy to visit properties during your stay to help try and resolve any issues as they come up (we are just based down the road in Keswick!). We will keep an eye on this hot water booster as well and add a note to the tablet that the booster should be kept on at all times. Many thanks and we hope to host you again soon. Very comfortable, warm lodge. Quiet, peaceful and lovely scenery . Not far from town and other amenities.

Wow! The most amazing view and location.
Beautiful clean bright and comfortable accommodation. Fantastic walks on the doorstep and activities for all, with an easy drive or walk to Keswick. A picturesque lakeside town with all amenities including a local artisan market. A place to unwind, refresh and explore the Lake District.

I went up to the Lake District with several old friends to do a walking trip in the Lake District. The lodge was absolutely perfect for our stay. We all came from London, which was very easy to do on the 3-hour train to Penrith. We then rented a car in Penrith which was very easy to do, and perfect for the trip.

The lodge is perfectly placed to get straight out onto the hills, either for short walks nearby or to set off on full-length expeditions that take you straight into some of the most beautiful scenery in the Lake District. It's probably best to visit with a car, either your own if you have one or if not then renting like we did from Penrith. It's a very short drive into the lovely town of Keswick, and you're within easy reach of essentially everywhere you could want to visit in the lakes.

An example day from our visit - we visited some lovely waterfalls where we swam in the plunge pools, stopped to see an amazing ancient church nearby afterwards, then finished the day in Keswick for one of the best Indian meals (Barua Street Food) any of has had in the UK.

The lodge is incredibly peaceful, and a very comfy place to be. We all commented to each other how well we'd slept every night - lots of walking in the day probably helps too! For food, we stocked up at Lidl right after picking up the car and did a couple of easy trips to the very nice supermarket in Keswick. The lodge has everything you need to cook hearty meals, which for us was fry-ups in the morning for hiking fuel, then big dinners with wine in the evening. These were much enjoyed and well earned after all the wonderful walking during the day.

Overall this is an absolute gem if you're looking for a special place to stay in the Lake District. You have a spectacular view on to Derwentwater, Keswick is minutes away, and some of the best walks in the area literally begin at the gate to the lodge.

Swallows lodge is beautiful, light and spacious with absolutely stunning views of Derwentwater. The rooms were well sized and very comfortable, and the kitchen was very well equipped. We especially enjoyed playing lots of board games which were provided. The lodge is in a great location with several lovely hikes such as Walla Cragg, as well as shorter walks to Castlerigg Stone Circle, on its doorstep. We also were able to walk to and from Keswick, visiting the market on Saturday morning. We will definitely be back, thanks for a great stay!

overall nice, excellant location just outside Keswick. a bit small with little communal space. stunning views right on walking route. had issues with doors that wouldnt shut and/ or lock and communication with managment company very poor - dispite calling and emailing no response until 3rd day

I have checked back through our records and unfortunately it does not look like you reported this particular problem to us. Please be assured we are a small local agency only a few minutes away from the property. We monitor calls and emails 7 days a week, and if a problem is brought to our attention we will always aim to get it resolved that same day. Our contact information is available on the welcome tablet within the property, but you will also find our phone number, email or live chat on our website. Swallow's Lodge has a spacious open plan kitchen, dining area and living room with comfortable seating for up to 6 people. We of course hope the issue with the doors would not deter you from returning in the future!
