This place for four with a private pool is a delightful retreat, one of a handful of typical Tuscan stone houses situated in the tiny hamlet of San Martino, nestled between the Chianti hills and Valdichiana. Stay here to step back in time and enjoy the slower pace of a bygone age, which still remains in corners of Italy.

The apartment is on the first floor of the house, with an independent entrance approached by a wide flight of external steps, leading up to a covered portico. Below the house sits a large pool to relax and refresh on those long summer days.

We stayed in this large apartment for a week from 14 September and had a very lovely time there. The area is very quiet, the scenery around is flatter than the Tuscan hills to the west and south but nonetheless beautiful, and the town of Ambra is a 20 minute walk away, with a fabulous restaurant. The owners live below you and keep themselves to themselves as they speak limited English. This makes it a very relaxing and private break. The beds are comfy, and the space inside is plentiful. The utensils and items for guest use are a little dated but they function very well and give you a real feel of a Tuscan life. The pool is excellent although it was only used once as the temperatures were a little cool when we went, and you have it to yourself. Church bells ring every once in a while from the tiny hamlet of San Martino and you can feel and sense the history all around. We recommend this stay to anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing break away. It is also a good base for exploring west to Siena and its environs, and Arezzo to the east.

A beautiful Retreat in the Tuscan countryside between Sienna and Arezzo. Incredibly peaceful and deeply restful. The house is full of beautiful sculptures and paintings, very authentic and soulful place.

Fantastic countryside location. Not as private as we thought, as the owner and cleaner would be speaking quite loudly at 7am. Not ideal when on vacation.
The house was great, but very tired and old, really needs a good refresh as everything we touched just seemed tired. It said Aircon, which was a bit of a trick, there was a tiny mobile Aircon unit in the kitchen, which was useless. The rest of the property averaged 32degs even through the night, which made sleeping near impossible. We decided to leave early as we couldn’t stand not being cool and able to sleep. Pool was great and Anna, was fantastic, she did all she could do to help. Didn’t speak a word of English, so with my broken Italian, we got through it.

Hi Steve, I'm glad you liked the location, sorry you didn't enjoy the house. However, I'm not sure where you saw "Aircon", we don't list it as having aircon anywhere. I went and checked and the only thing I changed on the website was to add the portable AC unit you mentioned. But it still not listed as having AC - one portable unit doesn't make a property air-conditioned.

Our stay at the Artist Retreat exceed our expectations. The villa is beautifully decorated with amazing art and sculptures. It was more spacious than what we anticipating and was perfect for us and our daughter. The outside sitting and dining was amazing with a great view of the countryside. The pool was something else, beautifully maintained and a great size for cooling off on those hot days. The villa was very well located with many small villages close by to explore.
We would highly recommend this villa.

Excellent location for exploring the area and the nearby town of Ambra which at first sight seems sleepy but boasts good restaurants and bursts into life at the weekend. The property is well looked after, is spacious, well equipped and looks out over the nearby hills. The manager is very helpful and has helped decorate the apartment with very interesting sculptures and paintings!
If you get the chance, hire the local cook to cook a meal for you, eating it al fresco was a real treat
Thoroughly recommend the Artists retreat.

We are on a 6 week Italian holiday and booked this beautiful Villa in middle of our trip . Was perfectly timed after a busy few weeks to relax in such a beautiful setting was magic . Loved the personal touches - bottle of wine in fridge, bowl of fresh fruit and fresh flowers . The pool is amazing and the peaceful surroundings are just as I imagined. Can not rate this villa highly enough .
