My favourite aspect of Villa Eremo was the garden, especially the neat lush green lawns and the feel of the air in the early morning and in the evening when the sun set over the hills. On our arrival, the lavender was in full bloom; jasmine and roses flourished against the house wall, while vivid red pelargoniums cheered up pots and window boxes. All these flowers attracted a display of colourful and unfamiliar butterflies and bees. The whole garden, including olive and fruit trees and the vine shading the breakfast table, was being diligently watered, maintained and tended to by Corado. Outside the area of the property, some of us saw a deer in the woods near the swimming pool, a porcupine with quills raised going into a hedge beside the access road, while others saw a family of wild boar.

This elegant villa is spacious with heavenly, breathtaking views. The pool and gardens are impressive and well-maintained. The different areas inside and out to work or be creative - including a Yamaha piano keyboard - were wonderful.

The breakfast service of coffee and croissants was appreciated. If it had included tea, milk, cereal and some fresh fruit it would have been ideal.

The main draw back was the loss of WiFi for much of the stay which resulted in eye watering roaming charges and missing deadlines as the stay had been planned with decent WiFi being available at the villa. This issue should be clarified on the website.

Also, a few more groceries on arrival including tea, bread, eggs, cheese and a few vegetables for example would have made for an easier start as it is a drive away from shops. (This has been done at other Invitation to Tuscany villas eg Villa Goga).

The pizza making option advertised on the website was not available and the cost of a chef coming to prepare a dinner was high for a large group. The meal was delicious but a simpler proposition of a light dinner at a more affordable cost would have been desirable. We were not able to eat the large quantity of food served.

We discovered the sizable train station down the hill in Pontichino (not apparent from the main road) and took the train to Florence which made for an pleasant day out.

Sofia, Sara and Corrado did their best to help us and we appreciated their efforts. Owner Arthur called as well which was also appreciated. Overall we had a special and memorable extended family gathering in a beautiful villa.
