Villa Ema is a modern house with a private pool in the Tuscan landscape south of Florence. Built on the edge of a ridge, access to the gated grounds reveals a private garden with wonderful views, a kidney shaped pool surrounded by laurel hedges and a modern house with a striking living room, spacious ensuite bedrooms and a sleek and well-equipped kitchen.

In the heart of Tuscany, just a short drive from the cultural gems of Arezzo and Florence, Villa Ema offers a blend of contemporary design and beautiful views. Set within gated grounds, the property ensures privacy and tranquility, making it an ideal retreat for those seeking luxury and relaxation.

The villa has five spacious ensuite bedrooms, each with large windows that frame views of the rolling Tuscan hills. The open-concept living and dining areas are bathed in natural light, featuring minimalist decor, high ceilings, and polished finishes that harmonize elegance and comfort.

A grand house that has fone to seed

This is a family's once lovely and once grand country house. It is built like a castle of the finest materials. Thats where the good bits end. Unfortunately the house has been allowed to fall into disrepair and is quite dirty. It is also about an hour's drive on some hard roads from most major attractions.(Siena, Florence, Arezzo) There is a nearby train in Montevarchi with good connections.

There are four large bedrooms three with en suite bath. All the fixtures are quite tired and the tiling is dated. Most distressingly some of the sinks don't drain. The master suite bath is overrun with ants and the kitchen which is a bit banged up is over run with flies. The garden furniture is all sadly worn and the outdoor sitting area is carpeted with astroturf. The pool is quite clean and nice. There is a large fountain with no instructions for turning it on. There is a lovely outdoor grill and pizza oven. Both are woodburning. We made pizza which was fun.

There is a fantastic Michelin rated restaurant directly below the house. Do eat there! The hills surrounding the house are beautiful to behold. The town thats walkable is a few houses and a sad tavern and pizzeria.

Thank you for your feedback. I visited the property after receiving your review and spoke with the owners, as we take all concerns seriously. I have to say I was puzzled by several of your comments. The house was professionally cleaned before your arrival, and when I visited I found it well-maintained and clean. The kitchen in particular is stylish and in excellent condition. I also found no evidence of the ant infestation you describe - we've had guests stay since your visit who reported no such issues and thoroughly enjoyed the property. If sinks weren't draining properly during your stay, I wish you'd contacted us at the time - this is exactly the sort of thing we can resolve quickly. We weren't made aware of any problems during your visit. On location, the house is actually very well-placed for visiting Florence, Siena and Arezzo - it sits roughly at the centre of the triangle formed by all three cities, so you'd be hard-pressed to find somewhere more convenient for exploring the region. I'm glad you enjoyed the pool, the pizza oven (making pizza is always a highlight), and the restaurant - it really is exceptional. The property clearly wasn't quite the right fit for your expectations, but I'm confident it continues to offer exactly what many guests are looking for in a Tuscan villa.
