We booked this lovely rental for our honeymoon in the lakes. We were blown away with how lovely the property is. The owner had left us a little hamper of bread, butter, eggs etc. which was a nice touch. And warm fresh scones, which tasted amazing!
We couldn’t fault the place, it was very clean and very warming. We had the log fire on every evening while we relaxed and also spent a decent amount of time in the hot tub.
We would definitely return in the future!

The Hoglet is a lovely, clean and modern place for a relaxing, getaway break. The place is spacious and has everything you'll need - nice bathroom, comfy bed, cosy living area and kitchen, and of course the hot tub was the highlight for a wind down after an adventurous day exploring the nearby areas. Kathreen and Mike left thoughtful little touches for our arrival which included a food hamper with more than the essentials. Both were also very friendly and helpful. We are looking forward to another wonderful stay here in the near future.

We stayed at Hoglet Cottage for a week and I must say its one of the best holiday homes we have stayed in...the cottage itself is beautifully decorated with everything you need for a self-catering holiday... it was immaculately clean.. the bedroom is huge with the most comfiest bed in the world...and the huge rain shower, all the toiletries and hand soaps were all branded and some were even made locally at the lakes..each room had fresh flowers in which made it so nice... we were there to celebrate our 23rd Wedding anniversary and Kathleen & Mike had left us a bottle of prosecco, a card and a box of lovely chocolates..along with a welcome hamper filled with all your essentials. The highlight of the week was coming back after a day exploring the beautiful surroundings to the hot tub.. which was checked daily by Kathreen..

We enjoyed our stay at the Hoglet cottage. The interiors were of excellent quality and cosy with the addition of the log burner. The covered hot tub was perfect in the wet and windy weather. You do need to car to travel about, but Carlisle was only 15 minute drive away.
Whilst we didn't meet the owners, they were always on hand to answer any queries.

We stayed in Hoglet cottage to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We cannot fault the cottage. Very comfortable and cosy, particularly when using the log burner. We found the location great for what we wanted as we managed a lovely chilled out week. Having access to your own hot tub was lovely, and it was great to chill in the hot tub particularly after being out for a good part of the day.

We stayed at Hoglet following our wedding in the lakes. It was everything we wanted for a relaxing few days.

A gem of a cottage from the welcome pack with Prosecco and truffles to the relaxing hot tub under the night sky. This cottage has everything for a relaxing stay.
If there is any criticism it is the entrance lane which can be easy to miss.

Hoglet was a lovely little find. Everything was super clean, well maintained and the kitchen had everything we needed. It’s quite a walk or a short drive to get anywhere but we found a lovely pub for lunch and enjoyed a walk into Dalston. Perfect place for some peace and quiet!

We enjoyed a wonderful weekend in Hoglet Cottage! The cottage was spotlessly clean and beautifully appointed. The location is perfect, and so easy to get to. We stayed at Hoglet Cottage for four nights, while I was having daily medical treatment in Carlisle. As such it was a welcome retreat, of peace and calm in lovely surroundings. We also found it handy for visiting family and friends in Northumberland, as well as the North Lakes. In love with the Swallows visiting the property. So quiet too, no road noise whatsoever. We visited the Northern Lakes via road and had no issues with our travel. A brilliant rest-over for those wanting a base for the lakes.
Also Carlisle is close enough to visit for any essentials required.

My wife and I stayed here for our minimoon and we were nothing short of amazed. The hospitality was second to none as we were greeted complementary wine and essential food for our stay. The apartment is everything you could dream of being very modern, clean with a brand new feel to everything. The hot tub was perfect for the occasion with a great view of the starry night sky.

My only negative comment would be that the hot tub was very frothy after the first 2 days when the jets were on so we didn't use them and I ended up with a skin rash.Maybe the hot rub shoupd have been checked daily to prevent the foam

Absolutely first class stay here over the Bank Holiday. Total peace from the moment we got there. The owner couldn't have been more helpful, with the little extras like prosecco and fresh eggs adding to the perfect setting. Our favourite time was sitting at the garden table either for a leisurely breakfast or pre dinner drinks, surrounded by the beautiful setting of the flower garden. The kitchen had all you would need for a self catering holiday and the bedroom was comfort personified. The rainforest shower was also excellent. The hot tub was checked regularly and was just right for size and temperature. Cannot fault this place at all. Five minutes from Dalston village for country pubs and a supermarket if needed, and within striking distance of the Lakes and Hadrian's Wall. We felt like we were miles from anywhere and will definitely be back.

We had a lovely stay here this week, Monday to Friday. The cottage was so cosy and I loved the wildlife theme. Everything was thought of and so clean and tidy. The location is great as it’s so quiet and rural but not too far from the city centre.
The little flowers spotted around everywhere was a lovely touch.
The only little issue we had, was from the bedroom window that looks out the hot tub side, the blind doesn’t quite cover the whole window and there was a security light that kept constantly flashing on and off all night, from a neighbouring property, which disturbed our sleep most nights. Also, we thought maybe a good suggestion would be, if the picket fence was sheltered more with taller plants/flowers, it would create more privacy for the table and chairs out front and going to and from the hot tub.
Other than that we could not fault our stay and we will definitely be back and recommend to all our friends and family! Beautiful place in a beautiful setting!

It was a new blind which the company had measured the window inaccurately. They have now changed the blind and all is good. We have looked at the garden planting and have planted taller plants and shrubs such as hydrangeas and hollyhocks. I think these will help develop a better screen.

This is a stunning place to stay. Beautiful surroundings. The cottage is done to the highest of standards. Personal touches were a lovely surprise. This made our stay even better. One of the best compliments I can think of that it felt so comfortable ' Home from Home' while also being a holiday. Have already recommended it to some friends and they have booked for August.

Booked a 4 night break at Hoglet Cottage at short notice just to escape from the daily routine and to celebrate a birthday. The cottage was as good as it looked in the pictures - probably better. It was clean, well equipped, and there was a well thought out welcome basket of milk and bread etc and a lovely note and bottle of Prosecco waiting for us. The bed was king size and very comfortable with pure cotton linens and the shower room spa hotel quality. The cottage garden was beautiful with roses, clematis and sweet peas in full flower. There were also several vases of garden flowers in the cottage and a packet of wild flowers seeds for guests to take home which was a lovely touch. The hot tub was clean and warm in it’s own hut and very private and was a real joy after a day’s walking. We had come prepared for bad weather content just to relax beside the wood burning stove with a good book but were lucky enough to be able to get out everyday avoiding the rain. There is wi-fi but we are with 3 and didn’t get a phone signal. Other carriers apparently do get a signal and you can borrow a mobile if you have a problem. Kathreen the owner couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. There if you needed her but allowing you privacy. The peace and quiet was wonderful with lots of bird song and clear night skies (telescope in the cottage) We found plenty to do in the area being convenient for Hadrians Wall, the Lakes and the coast. We also enjoyed our visit to Carlisle. A truly relaxing break, we didn’t want to go home which is exactly how you should feel if you have had a good experience. Will definitely be returning.

My partner and I had a lovely stay at Hoglet Cottage. All rooms very spacious and in great condition. Hot tub was a lovely extra. Bathroom and shower very nice, although bath mat has to soak up alot of water coming out of the shower. Some great little extras like chocolates and prosecco. Would definitely recommend to anyone else, and great value for money.

We choose this property as we wanted to visit the northern parts of the Lake District and Hadrian’s wall . Both of these are only 30 to 40 minutes away, so ideal. The village of Dalston is a short car drive away , is pretty and has a few shops.

Beautiful accommodation, peaceful and relaxing setting. Welcome goodies were generous and much appreciated. Kath was so helpful & couldn’t ask for more from a host. Thoroughly enjoyed our short break and would definitely return/recommend to others.

We had a lovely time at Hoglet cottage. The host Kathreen was lovely to chat to and struck just the right balance of saying hello but leaving you to be private. She was even so lovely to offer to pick us up from Carlisle races! The cottage itself is wonderfully kitted out and decorated and very comfortable. It has everything you need and more and a lovely welcome package and flowers in every room, a real home from home. It's incredibly peaceful and we used the hot tub daily...amazing star gazing! The private garden was just starting to bloom. We relaxed lots but also got out and about..Carlisle, Solway Coast, race day at Carlisle, Keswick, The Lakes Distillery at Bassenthwaite and Northumbria and Hadrian's Wall. Also explored Dalston and supported the local shops and eateries. Highly recommend. Thank-you for a lovely stay. Just one little suggestion, we would have found some coats hooks in the utility room useful.
