Charlton Gate is an imposing two bedroomed, two bathroom detached Northumbrian Stone House set within the Newton Estate and surrounded by private gardens and stunning views.

The house is a perfectly placed to explore the Northumberland National Park with its International Dark Sky status and Kielder Water, just 20 minutes away. The Boe Rigg restaurant and bar is a 10-minute stroll away and a variety of shops, cafes and restaurants can be found in the traditional market town of Bellingham just two miles away.

We had a great week at Charlton Gate. It is a wonderful location and nice and quiet. The property had everything needed and even a few things we hadn't thought of. Everything worked well although a few things might need updating in the near future (some items in the kitchen and the armchairs in the living room lack a bit of support).

One other comment - As this is on a working farm, there can be a few flies about. Not a problem, but the property could do with a supply of fly paper (or similar).

Other than that, a great place to stay and we'd be happy to come again.

We absolutely adored Charlton Gate and will certainly look to visit again.

Despite the very inclement weather, we have just returned from a fabulous stay at Charlton Gate Cottage - very cosy and warm with the only noise the lovely sound of nature and the new born lambs. Only a couple of miles from the village and the very best food available just a short walk down the lane at The Boe Rigg. Both are 100% recommended.

There are so many positives but I am afraid one negative (hence a score of 4 and not 5 in condition), although we do not watch very much TV, it was frustrating that we could not get BBC1. A minor hitch but something future guests might need to be aware of?

We hope to be back again.

Nigel

The cottage beautifully laid out and furnished. Every thing there. A real home from home. The bathtub is huge great for soaking away in. Northumberland is a great place to visit at anytime of year but the cottage added so much to the visit. This was the first time my friends stayed in a cottage and thisone surpassed all expectations.

Good central location for Kielder Observatory and Kielder Water (some great walks), Hexham and Sycamore Gap. Excellent location for a dark sky experience.

We had a fantastic time staying at Charlton Gate. Location was perfect for us with fabulous views. Communication was fantastic, really helpful. Very clean, nice few touches with jam, biscuits etc. Lots of wood for cosy fires. Only scored comfort a 4 because the seating wasn’t as comfortable as it could be so perhaps something to think about for the future - definitely not a deal breaker or a major issue. Would definitely return and recommend! Thanks so much :)

Charlton Gate is the perfect cottage to unwind and relax; the cottage itself is very cosy and spacious, with excellent facilities and ample parking. The setting is picture perfect with fields, sheep and glorious countryside as far as the eye can see. Nearby Kielder Forest makes for the most wonderful backdrop for relaxing drives and walks of all difficulties. The hike to the top of Kielder Observatory is a must, as is a stroll around Kielder Water. I have no hesitation in recommending Charlton Gate, was adored by the family and our dog!!!

Charlton Gate is just WOW. Had a really lovely 2-night stay here with our French bulldog and it just the most perfect and charming property. I cannot speak highly enough about staying here. Set in the most remote/beautiful countryside with sheep and lambs to wake up to in the surrounding fields. Great base to explore Kielder. The property had everything we needed for our stay, along with a lovely welcome pack, and was super clean/tidy with crisp white bed linen. We enjoyed using the log burner on the evenings too. Would love to stay here again and would certainly recommend this property.

Thank you for letting us call Charlton Gate 'home' for the weekend. It was the perfect base for me to complete my Virtual London Marathon with friends and family around Keilder Water. The cottage is cosy and welcoming and the views from every window are like a painting.

My family and I have just spent 4 wonderful days in this comfortable and cosy stone cottage. The cottage was spotless and very well equipped with everything you need for a breakaway from home. Luxury bedding and fluffy towels were provided and the 'star of the show' is the amazing blazing open fire!
The cottage has fabulous 360 degree views of the beautiful countryside. With walks on the door step its ideally situated to explore the nearby Northumberland villages and hamlets.

Thanks Wooden Star Cottages for another 'top notch stay'!!

Charlton Gate is a very well and thoughtfully appointed cottage in a beautiful peaceful rural location. Lovely gardens immediately surround the property, with land beyond the walls grazed by sheep. Some delicious (and practical) goodies greeted us on arrival, with fresh flowers on the dining room table. Sam and Vicky (who manage the property) were extremely responsive and the owner was very welcoming and informative when we bumped into him. Overall, a fabulous and very enjoyable stay - recommended!

The cottage is well appointed with everything and more that you could wish for. A great place to stay if you want peace and quiet yet not too far from village shops, pub and cafe.
