Hired the whole house for a wedding group. It was a perfect location for all bridesmaids to get ready. The apartments were immaculate. Communication was excellent and all the information to gain entry was superb. Welcome packs were a bonus. Couldn't have wished for anything better.
The tree house is definitely a quirky place to stay . Set in glorious woodlands away from everyone else . Well equipped , though more storage would be useful in the bedroom for t.shirts and underwear etc as no drawers just a wardrobe to hang clothes . The super king sized bed was really comfortable and the free standing bath a luxurious treat . Overall we enjoyed our stay , very tranquil .
Given the experience we've had in the apartment and the communication with the team at Wooden Star Cottages Ltd, I can't see how any of the options could be anything other than 5/5. We've stayed in two of the apartments in Hexham house now and both were very well equipped, spotless and had great views Apartment 4, where we've just stayed even had a couple of rabbits visiting the garden behind for some nibbles, lovely.
We (20 friends) had a brilliant weekend at the Hall celebrating a 60th birthday. The house is beautiful and very well equipped, providing everything that we needed. I would highly recommend it.
This was our long planned 4 night Hexham visit - to explore all things Roman Wall and attend choral evensong at the Abbey. This delightful and quirky townhouse was the perfect base for us. Beautifully refurbished with super comfortable beds and a powerful shower (both key for us in selecting accommodation) as well as a great wee kitchen, utility room and an unexpected 'sitooterie' from which to enjoy a pre-dinner drink or afternoon T. The parallel parking caused a wee bit of anxiety - but in reality was totally fine (with a Volvo XC40).
Fieldhead was perfect, such a beautiful location and home to stay in. No problems at the property, any issues or help needed they are just a call or msg away. Our new favourite place to stay, will definatley be back. Thank yiu5
We chose Beaufront as our venue for a long overdue family get-together. We didn’t tell the kids we were staying in a castle and their faces when we arrived, a picture! The lovely thing about the place was that despite the size and grandeur of it, it still felt homely. The decor was absolutely beautiful with many original features retained. Lots of antique ornaments and trinkets which I loved marvelling at! The kitchen was extremely well-equipped for the number of guests, which may sound obvious but it’s not always a given! SO much space for us all to spread out, more than ample sea...more
Our second visit and as good as the first. Great facilities with a room and en-suite each and plenty of room for socialising, cooking and eating together. Couple of points: The downstairs toilet in Steadings 2 doesn’t flush properly. Heaters in The Byers 1 & 2 need attention as not all were working. Mirrors in bedrooms for hair drying etc would be helpful. We loved it again. And we even got the dark skies too!
The house was as beautiful as the photos suggested. The facilities were excellent and we had everything that we needed for a wonderful stay. The quiet and beauty of the area were spectacular and we really felt that we were surrounded by nature, birdsong and a wildness that we rarely encounter in the busy south. Thank you to the owners for allowing us to use this historic property.
Hexham House is conveniently positioned in the centre of Hexham in close proximity to shops and restaurants. The parking permit was so useful when local roads have parking restrictions. The apartment, which is accessed by 31 steps, is very well equipped and has a lovely dining and seating area in the kitchen. There are useful cleaning materials in the kitchen and soap, shampoo and shower gel in the compact bathroom. Access into the shower is about 40cms and the mantle piece in the bedroom restricts the space on the left side of the bed. These points were not too much of an issue for us but ma...more
Comfortable and very clean small ground floor flat in centre of Hexham suitable for two. Parking also provided off road and although in centre of town bedroom backs onto park so quiet at night. Managers prompt in answering queries.
We have stayed in a Wooden Star Cottage before and this was definitely as good! The accommodation is wonderful, practical and fitted us, our daughters, husbands and grandchildren with ease for a week of family fun. We will be back next year!
Perfect location - how can it get any better than waking up to church bells ringing in Hexham Abbey and one can see it from your bed - perfect. Watched the bowling from our windows and then we walked down to the clubhouse below in the beautiful gardens.
Everything required for a comfortable stay. Even a slow cooker, and set of kitchen scales so I was able to do some baking.
Very peaceful location and clean, comfortable cottage. Relatively small space but the high ceilings make it feel roomy. Communication was excellent with very good information in advance and easy access from the key box. On site pub/restaurant is really good too.
Immaculately clean modern apartments. Excellent condition with everything you need. Very good location in the centre of Hexham. Would definitely recommend.
Everything was great with the apartment, and the service provided by Sam and Vicky was very prompt. We greatly appreciated the Prosecco, the biscuits, tea, coffee and milk in the welcome basket. The rooms were spotless and the bed was very comfortable. The directions to reach Hexham House and the parking spot were clear and easy to follow. The only improvement we would like to suggest is that the blinds in the bedroom could be replaced with black-out blinds that cut out the morning light properly. The current blinds do not quite reach the sides of the window, and although they are opaque t...more
Well equipped, comfortable appartment in restored historic building in the centre of Hexham. Well located next to the Bouchon Bistro and with views of a beautiful park and Hexham Abbey. Hosts always responsive and ready to deal with any problems promptly.
Most comfortable cottage. Lovely beds, sweet sitting room, large, flexible kitchen. Great location for exploring the area.
We had a wonderful stay in this very special place full of character . It was extremely comfortable and for us the perfect location . The hosts were very helpful . Definitely a place to return .
No. 1 can open into the next door cottage and both are super comfortable properties, ideal for a large family. Our itinerary was very full but also relaxed and the area is stunningly beautiful, nature at its best, a starry sky and meteors putting on a spectacular night time display.
Just returned from a wonderful 3 night stay at Rose Bowers. There was 13 of us staying in all 3 cottage’s/barns and I have to say we had the best time. All of the properties were amazing, clean, comfortable and everything we needed for our stay. We loved the central garden which was great for the 3 kids to play and the adults to relax. The hot tub was used every night and it was a great, just took a bit of work to get the temperature right. We all said we would happily return.
We stayed for 3 nights. Had a wonderful stay, all was as advertised. We had a slight issue, which was dealt with quickly, Sam keeping us up to date with issue and resolve. The bag of goodies and milk was a lovely touch. Very peaceful and quiet, (we stayed early July) we would consider returning, would definitely consider using Wooden Star in future.
Well presented accommodation providing everything needed for a short stay. Very comfortable bed. Would stay again.
We are definitely coming back. The A68 junction is not the greatest, but the Barn is peaceful and pretty near perfect. The hot tub was what led us to Drum Barn and although it took a while to get going, it was totally worth it. The Barn is huge and the four of us felt like we needed more friends. Beds were v comfy and we managed to fix the WiFi when it dropped off - we had taken our own TV firestick.
Nice accommodation in a well converted byre. It had everything I needed, and I'm glad I remembered to bring my charging cable for my EV!
We are not sure whether it is the beautiful views, the sense of space within the Coach House or the lovely pieces of furniture and fittings which go to make this a perfectly relaxing holiday but the combination certainly offers that. We had stayed at this property with three adult grandchildren once before and when they heard we were planning to return they requested joining in again so we gladly agreed - they cooked us the occasional proper breakfast as treats. The booking procedures and follow through were all handled with professionalism and friendliness which made the whole experience ...more
What a fabulous stay we had at Shellbraes Farmhouse. I wanted somewhere beautiful to stay for my son's wedding and it didn't disappoint. Beautiful location with stunning, sweeping Northumberland countryside views . The house was wonderfully spacious for our guests who were all wowed by the property. It was very clean but also felt homely enough not to be too precious about it - we were able to fully relax. It was kitted out with everything we could need - a well stocked kitchen and utilities. The bedrooms were gorgeous , the beds were super comfy with crisp linen and the bathrooms supplied wi...more
An excellent property in a lovely location. Very peaceful and quiet with great views all round. Charlton Gate had everything we needed for a week away with our dog. Lots to see and do around Kielder but there are also other woodland and riverside walks within a few minutes drive of the cottage. We will definitely be looking for a chance to stay here again.
We stayed at Bastle House for a short break. The property is unique and has been sustainably renovated in keeping with its history. It was extremely clean and well appointed. The location is perfect for Hexham, Corbridge and Newcastle. The downside was the bedroom which has little in the way of window coverage so if you need a dark room in which to sleep this is not for you (eye masks were provided but these are not for everybody)
We had a lovely stay Perfect for a family of 6 plus a baby. Very well appointed and it was a lovely stay. Thank you
We had a great stay at the hayloft. Sam and Vicky were great hosts and looked after us really well. Roses Bower is a lovely location, large grounds and expansive views. The hot tub was a frat addition and used to cool off most of the time! It’s an easy short drive into Hexham and other local sites. We would definitely come back!
West Grange is such a perfect little spot for a getaway. The house is in immaculate condition, it is a fantastic space with everything you could want. Book shelf loaded, a hot tub and a sauna and very clear direction on usage. The place was spotless on arrival. They had a really good kitchen set up which made cooking every day very easy. A lovely welcome package on arrival was another lovely touch. Lots of lovely spots locally if you want to explore. We had a truly wonderful stay and hope to come back!
