Hired the whole house for a wedding group. It was a perfect location for all bridesmaids to get ready. The apartments were immaculate. Communication was excellent and all the information to gain entry was superb. Welcome packs were a bonus. Couldn't have wished for anything better.

The tree house is definitely a quirky place to stay . Set in glorious woodlands away from everyone else . Well equipped , though more storage would be useful in the bedroom for t.shirts and underwear etc as no drawers just a wardrobe to hang clothes . The super king sized bed was really comfortable and the free standing bath a luxurious treat . Overall we enjoyed our stay , very tranquil .
Apartment was in a great location, and really spacious inside. I was a bit worried that being in an apartment would be a bit loud I.e. we’d be able to hear other residents but this wasn’t the case at all. It felt very private and self contained. Would definitely stay again! We had our 2 year old with us too and there were no issues with this - the apartment felt toddler suitable.
This was our long planned 4 night Hexham visit - to explore all things Roman Wall and attend choral evensong at the Abbey. This delightful and quirky townhouse was the perfect base for us. Beautifully refurbished with super comfortable beds and a powerful shower (both key for us in selecting accommodation) as well as a great wee kitchen, utility room and an unexpected 'sitooterie' from which to enjoy a pre-dinner drink or afternoon T. The parallel parking caused a wee bit of anxiety - but in reality was totally fine (with a Volvo XC40).
Fieldhead was perfect, such a beautiful location and home to stay in. No problems at the property, any issues or help needed they are just a call or msg away. Our new favourite place to stay, will definatley be back. Thank yiu5
Amazing and special place to stay! Celebrated my birthday here with my family, couldn’t have asked for a better place. The management team were so helpful and accommodating. The castle was very well equipped. Lovely walk to an amazing pub the Rat Inn. We will hopefully be back again. Thanks David and Family
The house was as beautiful as the photos suggested. The facilities were excellent and we had everything that we needed for a wonderful stay. The quiet and beauty of the area were spectacular and we really felt that we were surrounded by nature, birdsong and a wildness that we rarely encounter in the busy south. Thank you to the owners for allowing us to use this historic property.
Our second visit and as good as the first. Great facilities with a room and en-suite each and plenty of room for socialising, cooking and eating together. Couple of points: The downstairs toilet in Steadings 2 doesn’t flush properly. Heaters in The Byers 1 & 2 need attention as not all were working. Mirrors in bedrooms for hair drying etc would be helpful. We loved it again. And we even got the dark skies too!
We enjoyed our stay. The apartment is in a great location, a few minutes walk from restaurants and shops, but also very quiet. Hexham is an ideal base for exploring a lot of the key attractions nearby like Hadrian’s Wall and the national park. It was very clean and had everything we needed. We appreciated the dishwasher and freezer. The rooms were slightly smaller than we expected from the photos but were still fine. The parking round the corner at the Abbey was convenient. We appreciated the welcome gifts of shortbread, tea & coffee. We’d stay here again if visiting the area.
We were lucky enough to have this year's holiday at the Steadings and Byres with friends. All of us were very impressed with both accomodations, the attention to detail was fanstastic and we had everything we needed. The location is very peaceful and there are some beautiful walks nearby. The wifi worked great, everything was provided even down to tin foil and dishwasher tablets! Thank you very much for a wonderful stay, we hope to stay in one of your properties again in the future, it was great
Comfortable and very clean small ground floor flat in centre of Hexham suitable for two. Parking also provided off road and although in centre of town bedroom backs onto park so quiet at night. Managers prompt in answering queries.
Seal Cottage is a very lovely home for a family holiday. From the windows you can relax looking at big trees, roses, hydrangeas and other flowers. A warm atmosphere embraces you after a tour around the region. In few seconds you can enjoy the peaceful Sele Park and the delightful town centre of Hexham. Shops, marketplace and pubs are at hand. Seal Cottage is a perfect location for visiting Northumberland, Cumbria and County Durham.
Very peaceful location and clean, comfortable cottage. Relatively small space but the high ceilings make it feel roomy. Communication was excellent with very good information in advance and easy access from the key box. On site pub/restaurant is really good too.
Beautiful apartment. Fantastic location. Sam and Vicky are very kind and helpful. The kitchen area does not have much workspace- minor detail. I have stayed in several of these apartments and keep coming back.
I would award excellent in all the above categories. The apartment was stylish, well appointed and extremely clean with everything you could possibly need. We had a great stay and will definitely be back!
Everything was great with the apartment, and the service provided by Sam and Vicky was very prompt. We greatly appreciated the Prosecco, the biscuits, tea, coffee and milk in the welcome basket. The rooms were spotless and the bed was very comfortable. The directions to reach Hexham House and the parking spot were clear and easy to follow. The only improvement we would like to suggest is that the blinds in the bedroom could be replaced with black-out blinds that cut out the morning light properly. The current blinds do not quite reach the sides of the window, and although they are opaque t...more
Well equipped, comfortable appartment in restored historic building in the centre of Hexham. Well located next to the Bouchon Bistro and with views of a beautiful park and Hexham Abbey. Hosts always responsive and ready to deal with any problems promptly.
No. 1 can open into the next door cottage and both are super comfortable properties, ideal for a large family. Our itinerary was very full but also relaxed and the area is stunningly beautiful, nature at its best, a starry sky and meteors putting on a spectacular night time display.
Most comfortable cottage. Lovely beds, sweet sitting room, large, flexible kitchen. Great location for exploring the area.
We book a family weekend every year, this has been the best place we have been to. A lovely welcome pack, very clean and the hall had a very positive atmosphere. Sam and Vicky were on hand to help us. A great time thank you
Our family (three children, Grandma and our dog) had a wonderful few days here. We loved climbing the clocktower and enjoying the acoustics of this former chapel which has been beautifully restored. We would highly recommend this to other people looking for a wonderful stay in a gorgeous part of the country.
Just returned from a wonderful 3 night stay at Rose Bowers. There was 13 of us staying in all 3 cottage’s/barns and I have to say we had the best time. All of the properties were amazing, clean, comfortable and everything we needed for our stay. We loved the central garden which was great for the 3 kids to play and the adults to relax. The hot tub was used every night and it was a great, just took a bit of work to get the temperature right. We all said we would happily return.
We stayed for 3 nights. Had a wonderful stay, all was as advertised. We had a slight issue, which was dealt with quickly, Sam keeping us up to date with issue and resolve. The bag of goodies and milk was a lovely touch. Very peaceful and quiet, (we stayed early July) we would consider returning, would definitely consider using Wooden Star in future.
Well presented accommodation providing everything needed for a short stay. Very comfortable bed. Would stay again.
We would highly recommend this beautiful house. We had a lovely holiday and the house contained everything we needed for our comfort. Wooden star cottages made everything easy with great customer care and excellent communication and a lovely welcome pack
We are definitely coming back. The A68 junction is not the greatest, but the Barn is peaceful and pretty near perfect. The hot tub was what led us to Drum Barn and although it took a while to get going, it was totally worth it. The Barn is huge and the four of us felt like we needed more friends. Beds were v comfy and we managed to fix the WiFi when it dropped off - we had taken our own TV firestick.
Nice accommodation in a well converted byre. It had everything I needed, and I'm glad I remembered to bring my charging cable for my EV!
Firstly, why doesn't every holiday cottage business not have an app?!! This is genius providing you with all the information you need including instructions for appliances, location information and more. It's available off line too, so signal not required. The property is lovely with so many thoughtful touches. The bed and sofa are very comfortable. The garden is well kept and useable if its dry, with lots of birdlife drawn in. It is also secure for the dog. The location is great for exploring, but do note, at weekends the road gets very busy and attracts high performance cars and bikes (with ...more
What a fabulous stay we had at Shellbraes Farmhouse. I wanted somewhere beautiful to stay for my son's wedding and it didn't disappoint. Beautiful location with stunning, sweeping Northumberland countryside views . The house was wonderfully spacious for our guests who were all wowed by the property. It was very clean but also felt homely enough not to be too precious about it - we were able to fully relax. It was kitted out with everything we could need - a well stocked kitchen and utilities. The bedrooms were gorgeous , the beds were super comfy with crisp linen and the bathrooms supplied wi...more
What an amazing place to relax and unwind. The owners were so helpful and on hand for any issues that arose and took time to chat when we were there. The cottage is spacious and of an excellent standard and if you like wildlife outside your door it’s perfect. On early morning walks you discover herons and deer and the walks in Bellingham are wonderful. I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful get away.
An excellent property in a lovely location. Very peaceful and quiet with great views all round. Charlton Gate had everything we needed for a week away with our dog. Lots to see and do around Kielder but there are also other woodland and riverside walks within a few minutes drive of the cottage. We will definitely be looking for a chance to stay here again.
We stayed at Bastle House for a short break. The property is unique and has been sustainably renovated in keeping with its history. It was extremely clean and well appointed. The location is perfect for Hexham, Corbridge and Newcastle. The downside was the bedroom which has little in the way of window coverage so if you need a dark room in which to sleep this is not for you (eye masks were provided but these are not for everybody)
A fantastic week away in beautiful Northumberland. Cottage was ideal and so quiet. Well situated for all the key places. Would stay again.
We had a great stay at the hayloft. Sam and Vicky were great hosts and looked after us really well. Roses Bower is a lovely location, large grounds and expansive views. The hot tub was a frat addition and used to cool off most of the time! It’s an easy short drive into Hexham and other local sites. We would definitely come back!
