We have stayed at Abbeylands now every October for the last 7 years and we still love it and always go back. It is literally like a home from home with everything you need. It is excellent for larger family gatherings as it has 8 large bedrooms and a very large table for eating up to 16 as well. The kitchen is amazing and the flow of the house is perfect. The garden is amazing too and you can have drinks or eat there in the nicer weather! You honestly couldn't ask for more for a holiday home. We stayed here for our daughter’s wedding in Jesmond Parish church and then the reception at Vallum Farm and it was perfect! The back room was ideal for preparing flowers. The kitchen was well equipped and seating area spacious and comfortable for informal meals for 8 or more. The round dining table was similarly lovely for more formal meals for 10. The staircase was beautiful for the wedding dress reveal! Hired the whole house for a wedding group. It was a perfect location for all bridesmaids to get ready. The apartments were immaculate. Communication was excellent and all the information to gain entry was superb. Welcome packs were a bonus. Couldn't have wished for anything better.
Hexam is a great base to explore Northumberland and the apartment really added to the enjoyment of our visit. Knowing we were returning each evening to somewhere clean, comfortable and attractive was fabulous. It was peaceful yet right in the centre of town with a beautiful view of the Abbey grounds with the benefit of a parking space. Gorgeous!
10 adults in the party. The accommodation was very clean and welcoming. Great location, nice and quiet. Would recommend.
We have stayed in large houses as a group of friends and family a few times a year for decades and this is by far the best place we’ve found. Breathtaking views, so much space, huge bedrooms and bathrooms, luxury bedding, great kitchen. We used the Duckhouse Pantry nearby to deliver two amazing dinners also. Can’t recommend the castle highly enough!

The house was as beautiful as the photos suggested. The facilities were excellent and we had everything that we needed for a wonderful stay. The quiet and beauty of the area were spectacular and we really felt that we were surrounded by nature, birdsong and a wildness that we rarely encounter in the busy south. Thank you to the owners for allowing us to use this historic property.
We have stayed three times now at Hexham House. It is a great central location for the town. The apartments are lovely and Sam and Vicky are wonderful, attentive hosts.
The apartment matched the description. The location gave us easy access to the gardens and town centre etc. We used the buses for a visit to Newcastle to see the bridges over The Tyne, and had a lovely day in Corbridge. The parking permit was useful and the bedroom beong at the back was quiet.
Seal Cottage is a very lovely home for a family holiday. From the windows you can relax looking at big trees, roses, hydrangeas and other flowers. A warm atmosphere embraces you after a tour around the region. In few seconds you can enjoy the peaceful Sele Park and the delightful town centre of Hexham. Shops, marketplace and pubs are at hand. Seal Cottage is a perfect location for visiting Northumberland, Cumbria and County Durham.
Beautiful apartment. Fantastic location. Sam and Vicky are very kind and helpful. The kitchen area does not have much workspace- minor detail. I have stayed in several of these apartments and keep coming back.
Pros: Lovely accommodation in Hexham with convenient parking nearby included. Marvellous communication from Wooden Star Cottages. Very comfortable beds. Had all we needed for our stay. Cons: Very minor - shower pressure is rather low.
We enjoyed staying with extended family at the Steadings (No 1 & 2). They are spacious and in a good location. Minor niggles include no light bulbs in exterior lights at No 1, loose fitting kitchen tap in 2, no washing machine tablets, hairdryer (No 1) not found until we left, limited kitchen utensils, 2 loose loo seats. All of thee things could be fixed easily to earn a 5 rating overall.
We booked two houses for a family trip for my 40th birthday. Both houses were lovely. Acres of land for the dog and the kids to play. They had a trampoline and hot tub to keep them entertained. Great big fire pit for the adults. Owners live next door and very helpful if needed but also not over bearing letting us have our privacy. Great location. Hexham shops and park in driving distance. Plenty sofas, chairs and dining areas for us to fit.
Great stay at apartment 3 in Hexham house, we wanted a base close to relatives we were visiting and this matched our needs perfectly. A real home away from home. Only issues the tv in the living room wouldn’t work correctly and the radiator in the bathroom didn’t come on at all. Both were highlighted and Sam was happy to come and rectify but we were leaving the next morning so didn’t see the point but hopefully rectified for the next guests. Would highly recommend and very likely I will stay again although might get a lower apartment.
We rented 1 The Byres and 1 The Steadings and the larger lounge of the Steadings made for a great reception space for the 5 of us. Both properties were clean, well equipped and in a great condition. Very comfortable bed, and the onsite bar and restaurant was a very welcome surprise!
We’ve lost track of the number of times we have stayed at Hexham House. The building is conveniently located for all the attractions of Hexham and as a base for exploring the local area. The Saturday market is a few minutes’ walk away as is a bakery with its freshly made cinnamon rolls on a Saturday morning. There will be a queue so get there early! Corbridge Roman town is a favourite and is just three miles away. The apartments have parking nearby which is a bonus. The property was perfect for a group of 5 girls. It was extremely central but not too noisy, just some minor traffic noise from the road. The cottage itself has some beautiful design touches.
Lovely area, very peaceful and the treehouse is very spacious, but sorry it not as luxurious as was on the pictures on the website. Just little things need addressing eg a handrail on the stairs to make it safer, also a hand rail on the step down from kitchen area into living area too as that quite a drop. Kitchen table and chairs look like from a charity shop and need replacing and no where to put your toiletries while having a shower. On a plus the bed was really comfy and the communication from company was good.
No. 1 can open into the next door cottage and both are super comfortable properties, ideal for a large family. Our itinerary was very full but also relaxed and the area is stunningly beautiful, nature at its best, a starry sky and meteors putting on a spectacular night time display.
We book a family weekend every year, this has been the best place we have been to. A lovely welcome pack, very clean and the hall had a very positive atmosphere. Sam and Vicky were on hand to help us. A great time thank you
Just returned from a wonderful 3 night stay at Rose Bowers. There was 13 of us staying in all 3 cottage’s/barns and I have to say we had the best time. All of the properties were amazing, clean, comfortable and everything we needed for our stay. We loved the central garden which was great for the 3 kids to play and the adults to relax. The hot tub was used every night and it was a great, just took a bit of work to get the temperature right. We all said we would happily return.
We stayed for 3 nights. Had a wonderful stay, all was as advertised. We had a slight issue, which was dealt with quickly, Sam keeping us up to date with issue and resolve. The bag of goodies and milk was a lovely touch. Very peaceful and quiet, (we stayed early July) we would consider returning, would definitely consider using Wooden Star in future.
An amazing place for three generations to celebrate a diamond wedding anniversary. Exceptionally clean and warm, and renovated to a high spec. with everything you need. Beds were comfy and everyone slept well. The welcome pack of goodies was much appreciated too. Lots of wonderful memories made. We didn’t want to leave!
We stayed at Drum Barn for my nieces wedding nearby. It was the perfect spot for two families to arrive and chill out after long journeys and is in the most spectacular location. The kids adored the trampolines and we all slept well. There is so much space for a big group and at the same time it feels cosy. We really enjoyed our stay, thank you.
Such a peaceful space. We celebrated a 50th here as a family. The cottage is hidden away on a quiet estate and really well decorated & equipped. Wonderful to have en-suite rooms for the family and plenty of space to spread out within the house, also loved the location near to Keller Forrest, plenty of opportunities to explore Northumberland. The communication from the hosts was Brillaint, a bespoke website to guide us around and friendly check ins to make sure we were o.k. I’m sure we’ll return in the future. Highly recommended.

Nice accommodation in a well converted byre. It had everything I needed, and I'm glad I remembered to bring my charging cable for my EV!
Gorgeous little studio, warm and cosy with very comfortable bed. Kitchen was very well equipped, lovely modern bathroom (underfloor heating is great!), and delightful little courtyard. The farmhouse next door had no visitors so it was blissfully peaceful for our stay
Thee cottage was a lovely place to be in - cosy and yet surprisingly spacious. Really well equipped with everything I needed. I would recommend it. Customer service is a 4 rather than a 5 because the email with key code didn’t arrive however when I requested it by text it as a text it came and the email followed shortly after. All in all a great place to stay abd a positive experience. Thank you
What a fabulous stay we had at Shellbraes Farmhouse. I wanted somewhere beautiful to stay for my son's wedding and it didn't disappoint. Beautiful location with stunning, sweeping Northumberland countryside views . The house was wonderfully spacious for our guests who were all wowed by the property. It was very clean but also felt homely enough not to be too precious about it - we were able to fully relax. It was kitted out with everything we could need - a well stocked kitchen and utilities. An excellent property in a lovely location. Very peaceful and quiet with great views all round. Charlton Gate had everything we needed for a week away with our dog. Lots to see and do around Kielder but there are also other woodland and riverside walks within a few minutes drive of the cottage. We will definitely be looking for a chance to stay here again.
We stayed at Bastle House for a short break. The property is unique and has been sustainably renovated in keeping with its history. It was extremely clean and well appointed. The location is perfect for Hexham, Corbridge and Newcastle. The downside was the bedroom which has little in the way of window coverage so if you need a dark room in which to sleep this is not for you (eye masks were provided but these are not for everybody)
A completely private cottage tucked around the back of a hall, your own sauna and hot tub, private garden our dog was safe to explore, the sheets are the softest and the bathrooms wonderful. The kitchen is enormous and the cosy living room has an amazing fireplace where we toasted marshmallows. The view of horses roaming the fields was an added bonus. We loved our stay ❤️
