We recently stayed in Hexham House Apartments during our wedding in June, we had exclusive hire of all 7 apartments and each and every one of them was equally beautiful and very comfortable, our guests loved them, it made it so easy to have all of our guests together in the same place for 2 nights. Parking was easy and it was lovely for our guests to have so many places to walk to just a few minutes away. We would definitely recommend and I hope we get to return sometime. Thank you to Sam and Vicky for making everything run so smoothly.
The treehouse is a beautiful property situated in peaceful surroundings, ideal for a relaxing getaway and just what we needed to recharge our batteries surrounded by nature. Furnished to a very good standard, the treehouse has everything you need to enjoy a few days surrounded by trees, birds and animals.
This is the second time we have visited The Steadings and we are already planning our third visit. We arrived to some lovely welcome gifts (Fresh Northumberland coffee, Beers, jam, chutney and biscuits) which were all locally sourced. The accommodation is extremely clean and well kept. It is like a home away from home.
This was our third visit to Hexham House and we found apartment 6 comfortable, well equipped and spacious enough for two people. Enjoyed the view towards the Abbey from one of the windows, the proximity to the lovely park and all the local amenities. We love Hexham and would happily return to this apartment.
Having enjoyed our stay so much last year we decided a return visit would be in order. Hexham House flat 4 was as great as we remembered it. It’s a gorgeous space with everything you need and is so comfortable. The weather was against us but it doesn’t matter when you have a snuggly settee and a good book. Will be returning whenever we can.
I stayed here for a weekend and can definitely recommend it for a peaceful stay. The countryside is beautiful - the cottage isn’t in a village so worth bearing in mind if you need to be in walking distance of shops etc. The studio is lovely - well equipped, spotlessly clean and comfortable. There is an outdoor area with table and chairs too. A welcome pack of local products was a lovely touch too. Great place!
We stayed in Steadings 1 and 2 as a group of six adults. The accommodation was in good condition, clean and well equipped. Bedrooms were comfortable, quiet and spacious. It is located adjacent to Boe Rigg restaurant and campsite, the food (and beer) in the restaurant were very good. The Steadings are ideally placed for trips to Kielder, the Roman Wall and touring Northumberland. Bellingham is 10 minutes away down the road. I would definitely recommend this property to others.
We were looking for a pleasant place to chill out accompanied by a dog with separation anxiety - this was ideal as the bedroom was next to the lounge.
I cannot speak highly enough of this property. We booked The Coach House, along with The Old Church, for a weekend of birthday celebrations for the family. The Coach House itself was fantastic, a great house with plenty of space for the people staying there and a really well equipped set up for eating, relaxing, cooking and activities. The kids enjoyed the garden in particular - a huge area to the rear of the property where we were able to enjoy a morning playing games and then relaxing in a very idyllic setting. This is a lovely airy apartment. It has everything and more that you need for modern comfort. Lovely views across the bowling grounds and to the Abbey. Excellent location in the centre of town. Good convenient parking. We will definitely be back!
Really loved our stay at No. 2 the steadings. Our stay had everything we needed and reviving the goody bag was a lovely touch. We will certainly be returning. Our little dog loved it too and made himself right at home.

This cottage was an absolute gem! We booked directly with Sam over the phone. She was incredibly friendly and even managed to secure a fantastic last-minute deal for us. While the location offered a true escape from the hustle and bustle, it wasn't overly isolated. We found it conveniently located for grabbing a quick meal when needed. However, the highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the breathtaking views. We spent countless hours relaxing on the front porch, simply absorbing the beauty of the surrounding nature. Hiring West Grange Hall for my wife’s big seven oh birthday party was an inspired choice. I needed to accommodate family and friends, some from afar and West Grange ticked all the boxes. Various other properties were considered but none came up to the requisite criteria. The setting is wonderful and the classic country house ambience of the hall itself simply wraps itself around you. We absolutely adored Charlton Gate and will certainly look to visit again. Despite the very inclement weather, we have just returned from a fabulous stay at Charlton Gate Cottage - very cosy and warm with the only noise the lovely sound of nature and the new born lambs. Only a couple of miles from the village and the very best food available just a short walk down the lane at The Boe Rigg. Both are 100% recommended. We stayed at the Woodworkers cottage for a long weekend in December. We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage and found the owners to be very accommodating for us, providing stair gate and high chair. The cottage was nicely furnished and had a log burner with wood and firefighters provided. We would definitely look to stay again when we next visit Northumberland.
Brilliant cottages. Lovely setting. Very clean and very well stocked with the individual kitchens. We had all four cottages as part of a group and we’re very impressed with the campsite and the properties. Good outdoor area as well for drinks. Even had an email checking up on how the stay was after a night which was a lovely touch. Only minor bit of feedback was the tv channels were only BBC and couldn’t download the ITV app for the rugby but that’s minor and didn’t take away from the beautiful stay we all had. as with previoius bookings with Wooden Star Cottages, a no fuss booking process and key management we've stayed in this block before, it is very central for hexham, the parking is a real bonus spotlessly clean and very well equiped should you wish to cook, it's compact for sure but my wife and I weren't cramped
Excellent apart from the difficulties with using the heating and the oven. The heating had no instructions and in the end it was my son who managed to get the heating working when he visited my apartment as it was a chilly evening. I still had no idea of what to do or how to do it. The oven had no instructions and he couldn’t get it to work so I went to his apartment where his wife used their oven to heat the pizzas. I have no intention of struggling with the internet when all that is required is some printed instructions for the appliances you expect me to use. There was no-one to help,...more
We had a wonderful stay at Hollin House to celebrate my Mum’s 80th. The house is well equipped and very comfortable. Beds were great! Highly recommend.
Had the most beautiful stay in Hexham house apartments for our wedding. Nothing was a bother and we felt incredibly well looked after. Stunning apartment which really made our wedding smooth and easy.
We have had a fabulous long weekend away and from beginning to end the correspondence was excellent. Thanks Sam. Having exclusive use of roses bower was perfect. All The accommodation was in excellent condition and very clean and comfortable. We could all gather together in drum barn to socialise and eat together. Would highly recommend booking. It’s been perfect. The queens head in the nearby village is worth a visit for drinks and food. It’s about a 20 min walk.
The apartment was warm, clean and the beds were super comfortable. We enjoyed the lovely view of the park covered in frost and the kind welcome pack. The location is very handy for local amenities and the management were very helpful. Would happily return.
The Drum Barn was great for our group of 4 couples, with all ensuite bedrooms and plenty of communal space. Communication was excellent before we arrived, and while the location was rural, great for a base for exploring. We didn't get the weather, but a mile walk to the local pub would be well advised. Would stay again without hesitation. Good info in welcome book, only criticism, instructions for heating could be better
Booked last minute as a convenient stop on a long journey. Really pleased that we did. Great place, well equipped, beautiful surroundings and an on-site bar and restaurant. Perfect. Will definitely go back.
Sam and Vicky are lovely hosts and the cottage is the real deal, comfortably having place for a large group. The walks and the sheer calm in this place is amazing. It is close to Hexham and Corbridge. We also visited the Hadrian wall sites. One recommendation for anyone coming here is to go and sample the ale and beer at Twice Brewed inn. Finally the herb garden in the cottage is something else. This was a special find.
It was just a short break between Christmas and New Year with grown up children, their partners & our dog. It suited us perfectly although we arrived on a very stormy, wet night so we got absolutely soaked unloading the car & navigating the dark path to the front door.& 6 pairs of wet, adult shoes at the kitchen doorway was a bit chaotic The Hayloft was,a great base for exploring, and comfortable & well equipped for cooking a couple of times in the evenings. We tried the hot tub but definitely needed more than the logs left to get it above tepid in temperature in Winter.... however it was st...more
