Dating back to 1817, The Coach House sits within the grounds of the listed Old Rectory and provides beautifully designed holiday accommodation with a wealth of Georgian charm and many original features, including fireplaces, exposed beams and antique furniture.

A very well-established holiday property with many five-star reviews on other booking platforms. It is continually maintained to a high standard and receives consistent positive feedback.

Two well-behaved dogs are very welcome.

The property can be booked alongside Greystead Old Church, a stunning, architect-designed conversion of an early 19th-century Grade II listed former Georgian church accommodating a further 8 guests.

Only drawback was that the footpaths were hard to find.
Otherwise we had a great stay and loved the views.

This was our second stay at the Coach House. It is a truly lovely house to stay in and explore the stunning countryside of Northumberland. Our dog loves the large, secure garden and we enjoyed the apples from the trees! The owners were wonderful in resolving any issues and their warmth enhances staying in this beautiful place. We can’t wait to come again.

We have stayed at the Coach house for a number of years and loved our time staying there. Accommodation has a lot of space and all the amenities that you require. Some of the furniture is a little dated, but no real complaints as it gives a nice old world charm. Very private and a huge (I mean Huge) Garden for playing games in, barbeques and the dogs absolutely loved it. Access to Kielder and the surrounding areas is ideal. Woodstar Cottages are really helpful and will go out of their way to support any thing you ask. Would come back again.

The Coach House offers immense character, comfort and a beautiful location, a few miles from Kielder Water and Forest in what for the UK, is a remote corner of Northumberland. The lovely owners are close by, supportive but not intrusive and the house provides space for up to 6 people. Huge walled garden ideal for the most active of dogs. The nearest shops and eateries are a couple of miles, although we went further afield to eat. Bouchon Bistro in Hexham is a must and Bewicks in Rothbury if you venture to Cragside (NT). Walking/cycling locally, sailing on Kielder Water and within easy reach of Hadrian's Wall and a little longer to the coast - Bamburgh is a must, fabulous beach and castle... or you can just chill with a wide range of books and games and the internet works well. The road can be a little noisy but isn't intrusive.

We found the house was easy to make our home for a week. We all slept well, lovely bed linen and comfortable beds.
We especially appreciated the laundry room with drying rack and warmed clothing area.
The kitchen was well equipped.
The area was full of wonderful meadows and sights, a fantastic county.

Just two niggles, the garden is not easy to access, very slippery slate steps.
We couldn't get the upstairs shower to work.

We have stayed at the Coach House numerous times over the years and it's a firm favourite to keep coming back to.

It provides a warm, comfortable and spacious base to explore Kielder water, the observatory, local villages such as Falstone and Bellingham along with places further afield such as Cragside, Hexham and Alnwick.

We have gotten to know the owners over the years and they are welcoming, friendly and passionate about ensuring their guests have a wonderful stay.

A very comfortable and easy to live in house in a beautiful location. Owners next door very helpful if needed but never intrusive. Huge enclosed garden great for a dog. Beds were super. Though only 4 days we enjoyed a relaxing break in a wonderful part of the country.

We had a short 2 night stay at the Coach House in September. I have had an extremely busy year and needed somewhere comfortable where I could rest, get away from it all, and get some fresh air. We found somewhere which ticks all of those boxes, but we hadn't expected it to be quite so homely. From the moment we arrived we could feel a sense of peace and relaxation, and it didn't take us long to settle in. Rather than do our normal thing of setting off somewhere and exploring, we settled in for the day, had dinner, and curled up on the sofa in front of the log fire. Everything you need is here, from a well equipped kitchen, plenty of logs, Netflix on the TV, and a walled garden for the dog. We can see ourselves coming back.

We were lucky with the weather and thrilled to see the Aurora Borealis from the Coach House. The garden was huge but steps down not suitable for people with mobility issues. There is a side gate. My Grandson was thrilled to find the communal Football Goal in the sunken garden. The only recommendation would be to improve the lighting in the kitchen - it was a challenge to read cooking instructions but I did manage to cook a roast dinner! Overall a very special find.

I cannot speak highly enough of this property. We booked The Coach House, along with The Old Church, for a weekend of birthday celebrations for the family. The Coach House itself was fantastic, a great house with plenty of space for the people staying there and a really well equipped set up for eating, relaxing, cooking and activities.

The kids enjoyed the garden in particular - a huge area to the rear of the property where we were able to enjoy a morning playing games and then relaxing in a very idyllic setting. The location of the property is also great - remote enough to feel private and removed from the general hustle and bustle, but close enough to home that we didn't have to drive for hours and close to smaller villages/towns for supplies. We were also able to find some nice walks for people to do while we were there.

The bedrooms were very comfortable - good storage and space - and with a good balance of bedrooms and bathrooms that there wasn't ever a queue. There is a great array of books and DVDs in the communal areas which would be great if the weather wasn't great or if we had booked at a different time of year.

The fit out looks high quality and it's clear that there has been a lot of thought put into the look and feel and design of the space to make it feel like a home from home. Highly recommended and we will be back!

The Coach House proved to be the perfect base for a Northumberland break. The scenery all around is beautiful and the house offers wonderful views across the fields and towards the nearby hills. The accommodation is spacious and comfortable, bright and cheerful even on cloudy days. Every comfort has been carefully considered and the house is perfect for relaxing after a busy day walking or exploring the beautiful area. There are good nearby restaurants and the garden would be perfect for eating outdoors on sunny days. Perfect for families, couples and friends - we took grandchildren. We will definitely be returning.
