West Grange Hall is a stunning Northumbrian stone nine-bedroomed period Country House dating from the early 1800s and built for the Trevelyan family of nearby Wallington Hall and utilised by the RAF during the Second World War. The house has a wealth of character including fabulous high ceilings, oak floors, sash and case windows with working shutters and solid mahogany doors. All reception rooms have large open fires with plentiful wood supplied!

West Grange Hall is the most beautiful stay you will ever have. The luxurious rooms, bathrooms and living spaces are opulent without feeling cold, stunning whilst still being comfortable.

We hosted our wedding celebration here, and cannot recommend the house and its grounds more. The owners are wonderful, friendly and accommodating. The house is immaculately clean and feels like you're walking into your own home.

Wooden Star Cottages themselves are the only people I would trust to book a luxury home ever again. They have been, not just a highlight of our stay, but the most essential part of the whole experience. Sam is utterly perfect. She has answered every question, been utterly obliging with every request, and made this experience stress free and seemless. I cannot overstate how wonderful Sam is, and this beautiful company is! Thank you so, so much for making our day so utterly magical.

We had a fantastic family gathering at the West Grange Estate with up to 24 guests over the week age ranges 2-73!
A great space
Good for in house catering and we could all eat together in the large dining room or out on the patio/ BBQ are. We even lit the fire some evenings in the sitting room due to lousy British summer weather!
Well equipped
Plenty of outside space for games and socialising
Amazing walks and beaches in the area
Easy and secure for our golden retriever
Would definitely recommend it

Our stay couldn’t have been better! A last minute change of plan we booked westbgrange hall for our summer camp 2024. Sam from wooden star cottages and the owner were so pleasant to deal with, efficient and very welcoming. We arrived for a 3 night, 4 day camp with all our gear and 18 ponies, the setting was amazing and we had the best time making memories at west grange hall. The house, garden and stables were spotless and we were given a free rein to do what we wanted. We can’t wait to return in 2025. Xxx

Hiring West Grange Hall for my wife’s big seven oh birthday party was an inspired choice. I needed to accommodate family and friends, some from afar and West Grange ticked all the boxes. Various other properties were considered but none came up to the requisite criteria. The setting is wonderful and the classic country house ambience of the hall itself simply wraps itself around you. Sam and Vicky, the ladies from Wooden Star Cottages, made the whole booking process painless from start to finish and their attention to detail lacked nothing.

Would I book West Grange Hall again? In a heartbeat and I’m already planning!

We had the most amazing stay at West Grange Hall. The hosts were SO accommodating, personalising our stay and meeting every request. The host was available to call at all times and often checked in to check everything was ok. The house itself was out of this world. Absolutely stunning, very clean and included everything. The photographs don’t do it justice as we arrived and our jaws dropped when entering every room.
I would totally recommend this property… We can’t wait to return!!

House had the wow factor and was very well stocked in the kitchen. Beds really comfy; bedrooms enormous! Staff on booking were really friendly and helpful. Location great. I think it had 4 bathrooms and 3 showers which was ok for an old historic house. However there was no hot water for showers until 8.30am, pressure very low and one of the over bath shower fittings was loose so had to hold the shower head! Thus wld be very easy for the owners to resolve. I’m sure the shower situation could easily be resolved for future guests.

We stayed at West View Hall with all the family for my wives 50th Birthday, it was magical lovely grounds for the dogs to run around Massive bedrooms a great kitchen, dinning room and Library and also a great BBQ area. Sam was a great host answering all our questions quickly, the whole place was excellent *****

From the booking experience to the end has been amazing!
We went as a family of 14 to celebrate an 80th birthday.
It was amazing in every way. All the bedrooms were unique with really comfy beds. Beautiful house and grounds in perfect location to explore the area.
There was nothing we required other than food and drink! Like home from home but on a much larger scale!!!!
Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hidden treasure.

From the moment I booked with Wooden Star Cottages, and particularly through Sam - I could feel the passion for great customer service. Sam was always available to answer questions and her energy was evident.

The house itself was out of this world. I actually don’t think the pictures do it justice (and the pictures are good!). It is perfect for a big group as it has areas that fit everyone together, but also provides enough space for alone time. The attention to detail throughout the house is beautiful, maintaining the traditional and historical elements of the house, whilst adding modern touches. The quality in the bedrooms (e.g linen used) was above hotel 5 star quality.

All in all, I would definitely go back again (in a hurry).
