Salmon Run Lodge is nestled in a pine forest with hot tub and sauna in the village of Carrbridge. This family friendly lodge has a comfortable lounge with wood burning stove and views out towards the river. The modern kitchen/dinning room has a Belfast sink and plenty room for your family holiday.

Overall cleanliness fairly poor. Issue with shower in main toilet, taps loose and difficult to operate as a result. Several lights inoperable. Small sofa inviting area needs replaced, very uncomfortable. Hot tub, supply of logs, size of kitchen and location all positive however.

Salman Run Lodge is a very odd space. It is large, has a hot tub and a sauna and two bathrooms and a washing machine, but is badly maintained. The wintergarden smells of chemicals and the chair has been nibbled at by mice. None of the doors can be closed quietly with one exception, they require urgent maintenance as they squeak horribly. It is difficult to keep the place warm, even on warm summer days, and the heater is erratic. The shower in the bathtub doesn't have much power, a number of the water taps wobble dangerously, and it is impossible to turn the heater off in one of the bathrooms, which means one wastes endless energy by having to keep the window open. The toilet brushes obviously hadn't been changed in decades, they were unspeakable. The kitchen was quite well equipped, but odd things were missing (no colander, not enough mugs, only a few tea spoons, no measuring jug or cup...). They arrived on request but only after a few days. Laundry was left for days in the damp outside which doesn't concern us, but was odd as this would allow it to get mouldy. There was nothing to sit on outside except an old picnic table and plastic chairs. Since the weather was lovely, we would have enjoyed something slightly more sophisticated. All the outdoor barbecue equipment looked dusty, rusty and unused. The area is nice, one can walk along the river Dulnain, and has easy access both to the village of Carrbridge and the wood across the river but the noise from the nearby A9 was annoying and for someone who does not know the area, rather off-putting. The worst thing was the neighbour who built a tiny house for about 11 out of our 14 days. While the owner of Salmon Run Lodge requests guests to be quiet and considerate of the neighbours, this does not seem to apply to the neighbours of Salmon Run Lodge! Who, incidentally, are employed by the owner of the lodge. Why anyone would think it is ok to build a tiny house from 7.30 in the morning to 8pm at night during the peak holiday season eludes me. Great North Lodges were great in finding us a place to stay in Aviemore where we had to go due to Covid which kept us in the area longer than planned. But in general, and in comparison to the other space we rented, also provided by Great North Lodges, I would suggest Salmon Run Lodge is in urgent need of an overhaul - or you need to reduce the price and be more honest about what to expect. Lots of room, lots of noise, and partly malfunctioning appliances. And in general, it would be nice to find salt, pepper, oil and vinegar in a house with a kitchen this size rather than the very nice welcome pack which contained goodies which are a treat, but not as essential as clean toilet brushes and salt and pepper and oil. We will definitely not come again.

Great holiday home.
1 point marked down on comfort only due to the lodge not having a couple of basic things - colander and no basics such as salt/sugar/oil.
2 points marked down as lodge wasn't the cleanest.

We enjoyed staying in Salmon run lodge as its great location and available sauna + hot tub were ideal. However the place is rather run down in places, there’s broken decking between the hot tub and sauna, the shower heads leaked which sprayed water all over the bathroom, the BBQ area was not maintained at all which made it unusable.
Having stayed at a few of the other available properties that Great North Lodges have they are a good bit better than this one.

Die Salmon Run Lodge war ein erholsamer Rückzugsort, ruhig gelegen und nach einer langen Wanderung freut man sich auf Sauna und Whirlpool. Uns persönlich war das Doppelbett zu zweit etwas zu klein. In der großen Küche hat es Spaß gemacht zu kochen. Mit dem Auto ist man in knapp 15 Minuten in Aviemore, wo man alle Notwendige einkaufen kann. Zu Fuß sind in knapp 20 Minuten ein Café und zwei Restaurants zu erreichen. In Carrbridge selbst kann man nett spazieren und es ist eine tolle Ausgangslage, um Ausflüge nach Inverness, Loch Morlich, ans Meer oder zu den Speyside Distillerien zu machen.
Es war alles wie auf den Bildern. Der Gartenbereich könnte eine liebevollere Gestaltung vertragen. Alles in allem würde ich die Unterkunft weiter empfehlen!

Hot tub looking a bit old. Tied marks on walls of tub.
Lights not working next to hot tub.
Sauna not reaching temperature.
Door on wood burner needs fixing not shutting properly.
But did have a great time . Good location. Nice to have fire wood supply.
Would stop again. Just needs a little maintenance. Thank you.

Wonderful stay in an amazing wee place. Lodge fantastic, feels like you are in the middle of a forest but only a short walk to the village. Staff very responsive and friendly.

I had a lovely few days staying at Salmon Run Lodge. It is very comfortable and warm, handy when it’s -10 at night! Endless supply of logs for the wood burner.
Kitchen is well equipped, and layout is great.
Had an issue with the Wi-Fi. Reported day 1 but wasn’t actioned until end of day 2, fixed midday on day 3. Wouldn’t have been an issue but I couldn’t get the tv to work properly either, so I was without wifi, tv and radio for most of my stay. Important when you are a lone guest.
The property has a sauna, but my lack of technical prowess meant that I couldn’t get that working, not such a big deal for me but might be for others. Hot tub was fabulous, particularly when it was snowy and cold.
All in all, I really enjoyed my stay. Thank you.

Our family of five had a great summer holiday a the Salmon Run Lodge.

Great location with easy access down to the river, leading to a short walk to the village and access to the woodlands.

The lodge is great with the added bonus of hot tub and sauna.

Great service from Great North Lodges as well - would definitely go back!

We had a fantastic stay. The location is absolutely perfect, especially for access to local walks across the river into the woods and along the riverside to town where the best coffee is at The Old Bakery! So much to do in the area that we never got round to everything.. will need to return.. for the 3rd time! The accommodation is great, lovely welcome and great facilities. Thank you once again.

The cottage is ideally suited for lots of walks in the surrounding area. The Carrbridge hotel does great Guinness and lovely food. Aviemore is about 8 miles away - the adventure capital of Scotland. You need to bring all of the basic essentials if you want to cook at the cottage.

The location was great and having the hot tub was fantastic. Lovely holiday home. Could be nicer garden furniture to sit on especially when the sun is shining for your morning coffee!
