Spey Cottage is a traditional cottage that has been fully modernised. Sympathetically renovated by its owners, Spey Cottage has stayed true to its period and retained the cast iron fireplaces and sash windows.

The modern farmhouse kitchen has everything you will need and the traditional living area has a fire right at the heart of it. The cottage has breath-taking views of the River Spey. Outside a decked area with stairs leads down to a vast garden, with access to riverside walks.

Lovely cosy and comfortable house - very well equipped kitchen, sky tv, play station. Great location backing on to the river. 5 minute walk over the railway footbridge or through the tunnel to the centre of Aviemore . Outside space is lovely with a super decking although garden could benefit from a gate so that children or animals can’t get to the river but this can’t an issue for us this time.

This is a comfortable, warm, well equipped house in an ideal location for Aviemore. Only 2 areas which could have been better. The travel cot really needs replaced as it’s lumpy and has holes in it. Also there’s no welcome pack of any sort. It would be really helpful to have extra toilet roll, dishwasher tabs, that kind of thing. I do resent having to go out and buy these things when paying so much for accommodation

However apart from that it’s a lovely place, great garden, huge deck and in a great location, within walking distance of everything you need. It was just right from a family weekend away with family, adults and dogs. Be warned, some of the party thought it was haunted though I’m sure it was just the wind!

Good location for Aviemore and surrounding area. We missed having a welcome pack. Always received at other holiday lets. Not all beds as comfortable as some would have liked, single beds. We knew it was Thunder in the Glen whilst there but I think it should be mentioned when booking if not known. The music was very loud for two nights. We were concerned about the garden not being enclosed at the back meaning young children could get through to potentially dangerous water. Again this should be mentioned or a good fence put in place. Not sure when heating was scheduled to come on / off. Due to weather there were times when there was a bit of a chill and could not see how to override. More important out of summer season. Very good to have SKY in two rooms. Front bedroom seemed a bit draughty through single glazed window at night. Trains did not bother us but again don't know if mentioned in literature but probably should be for some.

We had a great stay at Spey Cottage. The location was perfect and the place felt really homely. The kitchen was a fabulous size and was great for cooking in.

We would definitely recommend!

The only issue was we turned up and there was lots of recycling left outside the house. Which we had to dispose of ourselves.

I don’t know how many times in the last few years we have stayed at Spey Cottage, knocking on for 20 times! Brilliant location, especially now we have adult children who now join us using the train. The cottage is down to earth, comfortable and well maintained. The new decking area and access to the garden is a vast improvement on the precarious staircase arrangement before.

We had a fantastic stay at Spey cottage. It has a great location within Aviemore with only a 5 minute walk via the train station to the shops. The accommodation itself was very clean and well supplied. The garden itself is very large and the decking area it’s secure and ample space. Our only issue was the grass area isn’t secure at the bottom of the garden (which we already knew about before our stay), it would be nice to see a simple fence and gate across the bottom of the garden to ensure children or pets aren’t able to disappear from the grass area of the garden. We did have a dog with us so couldn’t full use this area as we would have liked. On saying this it definitely would not put us off from booking this lodge again.

The mark of a good holiday and accommodation, is would you go again? The answer for Spey Cottage is very definitely yes, especially as we didn’t have the best weather.
Great location, all the facilities and an awesome decking area.

We chose Spey Cottage to meet up with our daughter and grandchildren from Brisbane and our son and his partner and their new baby from Stirling. It was the perfect choice. The location was a very short walk to the centre of Aviemore, the pub at the end of the road which had music outside in the evening, walks along the river and the Rothiemurchus Estate for our all our outdoor activities.

The cottage was warm and comfortable with plenty of hot water. The beds were comfortable too. The kitchen is very well equipped and the WiFi is good as well as great tvs with Sky installed. Our only criticism is we would have liked more spare towels and becausexits mid summer we found the curtains too thin so blackout blinds would have been great.
We will definitely rebook again

Spey Cottage is a warm and welcoming house. Cosy yet stylish and immaculately clean.
The views from the living room and back deck are absolutely stunning. Especially when sitting on the sofa by the cosy log burner.
A welcome box of goodies were waiting for us - a lovely, thoughtful touch. The homely, modern kitchen is very well equipped and has a double oven.
Beds are very comfortable and warm. The shower is amazing!
Central location, just a short walk to town and a few minutes drive from scenic lochs and mountains.
We left feeling restored and reinvigorated and will book with Great North Lodges next year. Customer service is superb.

I'd highly recommend Spey Cottage for anyone wanting to stay in the area. Conveniently located near the station and shops. Three spacious upstairs bedrooms, one small downstairs bedrooms, two beautiful bathrooms (lovely roll-top bath and a good shower), a large sitting room with fireplace & logs and a large well-equipped kitchen. The house had everything we needed for a very comfortable work trip. Thank you!

Have stayed in Aviemore many times over the years and know the area well, the location of this property is excellent.

First time at this house but would consider again. Great walks are on the doorstep, both out front and back doors. Restaurants, transport and local amenities a stones throw from front door to. On street parking.

The property is spacious and very well equipped with modern appliances that all worked. Super big gated raised modern deck attached to rear of house overlooking private garden. Being pet friendly is a bonus too. Easy to use heating system and a log burner if needed.

As a dog owner property was great as it has a big grassed back garden area too. The only issue with this is that it is not fully enclosed ! This could also be an issue for young children. At the end of the garden there is a path into a small wooded area but beyond that is the River Spey which at this point is very fast flowing, deep and wide. If there was a fence with a gate to control access to this area, this would be great and make the garden more user friendly. That said not everyone has an inquisitive dog or young children, just a consideration.

Cottage is in a great location with easy walking distance from the Main Street, restaurants and pubs. The kitchen is really well equipped with everything you need. Full Sky TV package. Good large bedrooms and clean modern bathrooms. The livingroom is very dated and the sofas really need replacing as they are worn and uncomfortable. The nice new decking was lovely but the garden is very dark at night. It would benefit from lighting on the stairs going down to the garden as we had to take a torch when taking our dog out to the garden at night. On the whole we had a really enjoyable week here and it was good value for money. We would book again.

Pros- good location great kitchen and shower room. Well equipped. Lovely patio area. Super size fridge and TV package ( although water on us!). Lovely sized garden if a little overgrown.
Cons- bed linen tired as was sitting room. Not a place we wanted to spend time. The kitchen was the homely room. A lot of wicker chairs that snag your clothes as did the patio furniture that needs sanded and oiled.

As previous guests at Spey Cottage we love it's location and its wonderful homely feel. There have been a few updates to the property that made our stay even more comfortable and enjoyable. A well equipped kitchen and the new decking area is ideal for relaxing at the end of the day with a fantastic view. We will definitely be back for another stay.

We had a wonderful stay at Spey Cottage with our family. There was plenty of space for our family of 5 plus our dog. The cottage is perfectly located in walking distance of the local shops and restaurants. The new decking is lovely and a enjoyable space to spend time on. The garden is lovely and backs onto the local river which was beautiful to walk alongside. The kitchen is very well equipped and it was easy to cook meals for the family. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Enjoyed our stay at Spey Cottage and where it is located. Well equipped property and plenty of space. Loved the decking area and garden and the fact you could go for walks along by the river spey from the bottom of the garden. Doors in property need replacing as most seem to be twisted and handles need to be tightened and couple of spindles on the stairs need tightened too. Although couches were soft the weren't the most comfortable. These are just minor niggles as we still really enjoyed our stay.

This was our second stay at Spey Cottage and it was even better than the first time with the addition of the new deck (and plenty of Scottish sunshine to go with it!). The house was ideal for our family get together and was roomy enough even with 8 of us.

Spey Cottage was in a great location, very comfortable and cosy.

Another fantastic holiday with GNL, Spey cottage is by far the best location we've stayed in the Cairngorms, the cottage sits right on the beautiful river spey seconds from town centre, pub, restaurants and gorgeous walks. The cottage had everything we needed, very cosy and comfortable, we will definitely be back to Spey Cottage soon.

We couldn’t have asked for more! The weather was incredible, sat out on the decking most afternoons after doing one of the wonderful walks you can do in the local area. It was Harley Davison weekend which was incredible, didn’t visit for that, but it was still quite something to see! With easy access to Aviemore, Spey Cottage is a great place to stay. Old Bridge Inn literally on the doorstep and the Cairngorm Hotel a short walk away for great food, what more could you ask for?
