The eight bedrooms in this Kincraig self-catering lodge have lovely views, and most benefit from en-suite facilities.

A large garden lies to the front with a big lawn and lots of outside seating areas along with a large BBQ and hot tub.

Note: Suidhe Garden Cottage sits in the grounds of this Lodge, and together they sleep up to 24. They have to be booked separately.

The ground floor has two sitting rooms, one with a wood-burning stove, both have big settees and great views of the mountain ranges. The impressive formal dining room comes complete with massive square table and tartan dining chairs, with a lovely bespoke fitted kitchen just next door.

The lodge is perfect for a large group, the rooms and common areas are big enough to accommodate everyone. There were no complaints from any of the group about the beds or bedrooms.
Previous reviews mentioned problems with the hot water but it wasn’t something we experienced.
There was some noise from the nearby bar but it wasn’t excessive nor did it keep anyone awake.
The service provided by Great Northern Lodges was excellent, they were really helpful at every stage of the booking, promptly answering emails or phone calls.
The lodge is definitely somewhere that would be top of the list when we book the annual winter trip to the Highlands.

I’d like to start by stressing this house was lovely and we all thoroughly enjoyed our week in Suidhe Lodge. If we didn’t go somewhere new every February we would return. The owners were very attentive and every concern we raised was dealt with quickly.

*Heating*
When we arrived the house was cold but the heating was controlled remotely - it would’ve been nice to have arrived into a warm house as it took the majority of the first day to get up to temperature. It was hard to control the system and was either too hot or too cold. My son, who slept in the twin room, ended up sleeping in his dressing gown with a blanket and two duvets but was still cold! The living areas were always a comfortable temperature but the kitchen diner was usually too hot so we ended up having the window open in there as to leave the heating on to try to get the bedrooms to temperature. The top of the house was either hot or cold but no happy medium, this is where we stayed with my other 6 month old son who’s hands felt like blocks of ice when he woke up for his night feed.

*Location*
The location was so much better than expected. We normally book a property in the middle of nowhere to escape from everyone, the fact that this one was on the road was an unwarranted concern as it didn’t interfere with our holiday whatsoever. Also the attached pub, which some of the family had raised concerns with pre-arrival, was never heard from the house and was a welcomed addition to our holiday.
Walks were easy to have for all of the family, including some of the less mobile, ten minutes from the Loch and then nice undulating paths alongside for shorter, circular dog walks.
Aviemore is only ten minutes drive away and is filled with great independent shops, major supermarkets, a train station, plus a bus stop to and from Kincraig.

*Maintenance*
We had a few issues with the hot tub that were raised on the morning of day two. Although the issues remained during our stay the hot tub maintenance company arrived within an hour to have a look at the tub and try to fix, unfortunately it needed parts that weren’t easy to source. We still enjoyed the hot tub but ended up using it more like a large bath as the noise from turning on the bubbles made listening to the people next you difficult.
There was only one kettle provided when we turned up, all 14 of us love a cup of tea in the morning so this was raised and another one was delivered the next day.
There were a few issues raised with one of the en-suites that a plumber attended to during our stay, again face with the same issues of parts and were unable to be fixed during our stay.

*Bedrooms*
All of the mattresses were comfortable and bedding clean. All the en-suites worked though the pressure did struggle when more than two people wanted to use the showers at anyone time.

*Kitchen*
The pictures for the property don’t do it justice. We like to cook so we nearly didn’t book due to the size of the kitchen in the pictures, it was a great entertaining space that we spent a large part of our time in. The hob takes some time to get going but that could be as we’re used to cooking on gas/induction as apposed to halogen. It was generally well equipped, another peeler or two wouldn’t go a miss, when we arrived the knives were dull though the provided knife sharpener made short work of that problem.

*Dogs*
We had five dogs on our holiday, as we do most times, finding somewhere to accommodate them is always a challenge - thank you.
The garden was said to be secure but one of the escape artists (not either of my angels) managed to find a way into next door’s garden, a real issue due to the people that were staying there were petrified of dogs. This also was an issue as there was shared access to that property through our garden so we were unable to let the dogs out for a wee at any point without being accompanied.

We were a group of 14 adults and 4 kids and the house was perfect for us. Those is well equipped, very comfortable and great for big groups , the dining room table was our congregation place, ideal for long meals and board games. Hot tub was a treat and huge garden for our energetic lab. Pub next door was very friendly and they even sang me happy birthday! Our only minor complaint would be that the water pressure was very low which meant that showers were challenging for such a large group.

We had used Suidhe lode 9 years ago and were pleasantly surprised to find it even better this time. The occasion was our son's 50th birthday. He had travelled from Perth,Australia. All of our immediate family were present, including grandchildren. The kids had a great time and used one of the living rooms for games and tv(the room without the wood burner.)
Some of the adults went to the onsite bar and were impressed with the facility,
.
The rooms were spacious and the beds very comfortable. The kitchen layout was good and we cooked mostly inhouse while we were there. The dining room was very well laid out and spacious.
Unfortunately, the heating goes off very early and I put it down to the fact that the temperature sensor was in the warm room with the wood burner. When we figured that out,we let the fire go out and the heating came on again. Can I suggest the sensor moved to the non wood burner room?

We have stayed at Suidhe Lodge several times now and each year we have seen a year on year improvement in this accommodation. Clearly a lot of money has been spent on providing modern bathroom facilities, carpets, and redecoration. This has therefore improved the property and the comfort of our stay quite significantly. Contact with the owners was extremely prompt and effective whenever we had a need. Highly recommended.

The lodge was perfect for our university reunion - 11 of us stayed in the house and everyone commented on how brilliant it was. The downstairs space was a really good size with a well-equipped kitchen and big dining table. The two lounges were very comfortable and the log burner was a great addition (although we didn't need it as it was so warm). Having an en-suite/own bathroom for every bedroom felt very luxurious and the beds were really comfy. We loved the outdoor space and hot tub and there was plenty of outdoor furniture for everyone to sit outside in the sun. Thank you for a fabulous weekend!

Great house and ideally located. Very responsive management. Very well equipped house - has everything it needs. The lake is walking distance and we could go fishing there, the pub is behind the house and the village is very close too. Beds were very comfortable and kitchen very practical and easy to cook in. Thank you!

The place is spacious, beautiful and very well equipped for a large group of guests. Folk music night at the attached pub was excellent. Sound insulation was very good. We didn't hear any pub noises from the lodge, nor did sound carry within the lodge. Overall, highly recommended. We did have a small problem with the heating, but this was fixed quickly. It would have been nice to have a dryer since the weather was bad for drying outside and space was limited in the room with the dehumidifier, but we managed just fine.

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at Suidhe Lodge, the kitchen was extremely well supplied with everything we needed for cooking. Very handy having 2 separate living rooms, and the beds were really comfy. The staff/owners could not have been more helpful when we needed them. Although there was no complaints from the group, the owner had asked for some areas that could be improved and we have come up with the below.

We had brought bowls with us but the grass was too long to play
No shot glasses
BBQ is quite small for the size of the house, also needed a good clean before using
The temperature was controlled by owners, we could turn it down on the nest control however it did keep coming on and because quite hot, especially though the night

Other than that we had no issues, and will definitely be back in the future.

My family and friends were impressed with the lodge accommodation and it's location. Our dogs enjoyed the large garden and the local walks. The bar next door was a cosy place to sit inside by the fire or outside in the evening sunshine. On our last night, when we were running out of food supplies, we were delighted to find a mobile pizza van right outside!

I couldn’t recommend Suidhe Lodge enough. Fantastic space in an ideal location which makes for the perfect weekend accommodation for any group. Everything in the house worked as expected, all the rooms were clean and the check in and out process was very easy to follow. The welcome pack also provided plenty of valuable information about the lodge but also the surrounding area, the owners certainly going about and beyond for the customer. A definite 10/10 and definitely a lodge I would look to use again in the future.

14 of us stayed for a long weekend and there was more than enough room for us all. The garden was great for home-made sports day and the hot tub was a treat! Indoors the table was large for us to gather round which is where we spent most of our time and the kitchen fully stocked. The two sitting rooms were also very comfy. All the rooms we used had en-suite bathrooms which was a bonus with 14 females. The toilet seat was wobbly in a couple of the bathrooms and one of the door handles was a bit loose. There were two areas of upstairs carpet with stains on them but other than ripping them up and replacing them there's not much that can be done about that.
The house is a short walk from the loch insh activity centre and there were some lovely walks around the neighbourhood.
We had a great stay and would definitely come back.

We spent a really wonderful January weekend at Suidhe Lodge. The property was excellent with absolutely everything you could need. It was really nicely decorated and very cosy. The jacuzzi was a real bonus too! There was plenty of space with two sitting rooms and a large dining kitchen , and numerous en suites in most of the rooms .
It was also great having the pub literally next door . Great location with loads to see and do - loch Insh water sports centre on a 25 mins walk away where we did archery and had lunch. Aviemore is only a ten mins drive away. Would thoroughly recommend the lodge .

We spent the new year at the lodge and what a great week it was.

It was our grandads 90th birthday present as he wanted to see some snow.

Great location, very spacious for 12 people not on top of each other.

Lots of lovely walks nearby and Loch Insh is a must.

Would definitely recommend and already thinking of coming back in the summer

Property was ideal for our family group.
Slight problem with the dogs as we thought we had exclusive use of garden area but people had to pass through to get access to other properties ( some with their own dogs) which “upset” our dogs and with anyone with a more aggressive dog could be a potential problem. Fences could be a bit higher as one of our dogs easily jumped over it. Otherwise a great family holiday property.

Suidhe Lodge is a little run down in some areas, but is still a great property with lovely garden and super support from the staff at GNL, but it's not suitable for everybody. I spent a lot of time looking for somewhere that would could be used for my husbands 40th birthday; lots of these larger houses specify no parties and ask that you confirm what the gathering is for to ensure that its a good fit for all. Suidhe Lodge does neither, and as it also has a pub attached so I thought it would be a better option for us. We received noise complaints on the Friday night as we'd been in the hot tub after 10pm. We apologised to GNL team and directly to the neighbour's the following day. The neighbours from both sides of the lodge then appeared at the hot tub at 9.10pm on the Saturday night to tell us to get out because they had small children trying to sleep. We apologised again and said that we thought we were ok to use it till 10pm and were advised that those rules didn't matter because of the young children, and because we had all been down the bottom of the garden playing games in the afternoon. We weren't looking to fall out with anybody so we just got out, but it was disappointing when the hot tub had been a 'deal breaker' in ruling out other lodges. So if you have a family or are planning on being out and about during the day it's a super spot, but the neighbours could be a bit problematic if you are a group of adults, or if you like to play rounders and have BBQ's on sunny afternoons.

Stunning property in a beautiful location, however we felt very expensive given it does require modernisation. The biggest issue was the garden, it was not secure for our dogs. We have 3 rescue dogs who are reactive to strangers and bark. On several occasions we had people come into the garden, even though the gate does have a private sign. We had a women come in with a toddler who ran down the garden and set our dogs off, lucky we had them on leads. We had people come in to smoke cigarettes and on our last night someone must have come in and didn’t bother to shut the gate. Apologies this is not the type of feedback I like to provide however these issues really did spoil our holiday.

We spent a lovely 3 days’ in this beautiful, spacious house in its perfect location. Our group of family and friends were aged 2-71. The garden, hot tub and bbq were very welcome.
Some suggestions...
1. Dish towels....we had only one for 3 days’.
2. Spare toilet rolls.
3. Clarify that ‘2 bunks’ is 1 bunk bed.

Great house, bathrooms immaculate, kitchen great (everything you need provided, can even bake cakes!) Wi-Fi works very well. Hot tub great, garden perfect for dogs and secure, great access for walks and trails. Lovely gifts of wine and chocolate left for arrival. And then there’s the bar attached to the front, easiest walk home ever after a couple pints. Would definitely stay again, 9.9/10. Nothing is perfect but this comes close

We had a fantastic short break with three other families at Suidhe Lodge. The large, very spacious accommodation was perfect for us all - eight adults and six teenage kids. Bedrooms many with en-suite were large and comfortable whilst the dining room could easily hold us all after a large BBQ. The kitchen was well equipped and the two comfy sitting rooms allowed us to have kids in one and adults in the other. The large garden was perfect for family football matches and the hot tub was also well used. The house sits in a great location, very close to walks along the Speyside Way and is also walkable to Loch Insh to enjoy the watersports. The village pub sits closeby and provided further evenings entertainment. Overall, would highly recommend this property for larger groups.

The lodge is in a perfect location for a family gathering. The kitchen is well equipped, massive dining table, comfy beds, loads of space to spread out in. Some of the showers / bathrooms need updating but having the majority en-suite was handy. Excellent communication from Great North Lodges with any questions we had.

We stayed for three nights, playing Grantown on Spey, Boat of Garten, and Spey Valley. It was the perfect location to be bused to and from with plenty parking. The space itself was great for the numbers we had, very comfortable and all the equipment we could need. The hot tub was a treat and the BBQ worked very well. The bar next door was a bonus and great fun, the locals were very welcoming. Plus a pizza van was just outside on the Thursday evening! All in all, a great trip and would use the venue again.

Kyle from Edinburgh stayed at Suidhe Lodge for 4 nights in September 2022
