Fabulous location for a Cornish beach holiday as Driftwood is within yards of the wonderful surf and golden sands of Porthtowan Beach.

The accomodation was fine.
Quite spacious.
Wonderful location for the sea.
Only oversight was no tea bags, coffee or washing detergent and there were hairs from last visitor in bedroom draw.
But otherwise all good.

Dear Diane, Many thanks for your review. In answer to some of your points. We have addressed the issue with the housekeeper, there should have been tea and coffee left in Driftwood on your arrival, and we apologise for this oversight. Many of our guests are delighted about the numbers of mugs etc. The dogs on the beach, I am afraid, is out of our control, and perhaps should not have been mentioned in a review of the property. Nevertheless we have taken your comments on board and addressed the issues you have raised. It was a shame the weather was not better for your week after an amazing summer. Wishing you all the best. We loved our stay at Driftwood! A stones throw from the beautiful beach, and everything we needed right on our doorstep and to explore more of Cornwall.

We hadn't stayed at Porthtowan before but have fallen in love with the place!

The cottage was super clean and comfortable, and well equipped for everything we needed.

Highly recommend.

(The addition of a floor brush would be handy, obviously bringing sand in from outside, you don't always want to have to use the hoover! And a washing line would be helpful too.)

Good location parking outside door all equipment their that's required. Pub over road quite good , cafe good . Enjoyed my holiday their , especially good for dogs .

We stayed here for a week and we couldn't be happier. The cottage does show some minimal wear and tear but nothing that presents as a problem. The property was completely functional for our needs - well equipped for cooking and a short walk to the sea (literally a minute away!!). We will definitely be coming back to stay!

This is the 2nd time we have have stayed at Driftwood albeit it several years apart. The location is great - just a minutes walk to the beach but it is beginning to feel a bit tired. The flooring could do with updating - carpets maybe need new underlay and the lounge flooring is showing a fair bit of wear. One thing that was a real pain was the bathroom Velux window has no privacy glass - it wouldn't take much effort to add some privacy film - I ended up taping together some news paper to put on it. Also there were no keys for the downstairs windows so we couldn't lock them for security. Another bug bear was that there was no key for the front door - just the back door. The cleaner had a key for the front door but it was not available for the tenants. There were cobwebs in the corners of the Velux windows which was a bit of putting but on the whole a nice place to stay. A washing/drying line in the garden would be very handy too as the clothes horse inside is too small for much to be hung on it and the rails on the radiators are just too low - had to hang towels over the doors. As they say on the TV - location location location!

Thanks for your review. We have taken all your points on board. In the winter of 2025/26 we have put new in new carpets and completely refurbished the shower room, with privacy screening for the glass. The housekeeper has been instructed to be more fastidious on each changeover. Wishing you all the best. John

Literally 2 minutes walk to beach, with a view of the surf from the main bedroom. Well equipped kitchen for preparing food to eat outside on the picnic bench in the back garden. Nice and private. Bar and pub a less than 5 minutes walk away.
We would definitely come back for another stay.
