It is a lovely property, clean and comfortable and so, so, quiet.
We thought we were onto a winner when the property is advertised as disabled friendly or “for those who are less able or use a wheelchair”. Yes, it has two full wet rooms and is fairly spacious inside. But the problem is, if you’re a full-time wheelchair user like me, you can’t actually get inside.
In recent years, the owners have built a porch on the side of the property which means that once the front door is open there is an immediate 90° tight turn right to get inside. This corner is nigh on impossible for a wheelchair user. The only way I could get inside is to remove my foot rests to free up a couple of inches for the corner. In other to do this, I had to be taken in manually backwards with my feet dragging on the floor.
As an electric wheelchair user, the outside approach is difficult too with a short “walk” to the front door via my nemesis – slate. It looks lovely, but is not so lovely when you’re in a wheelchair. The wheelchair wheels immediately dig into the slate making it almost impossible to move over. But as this was only for a couple of feet, we managed (with difficulty).
Once inside the property, it was fine with lots of room and two wet rooms to choose from!
Outside, again was in need of an update. There was a pleasant place to sit out, but the table and chairs provided were in serious need of an upgrade. You couldn’t even place a cup or glass on the table top for fear of it sliding off it was so bumpy. This was fastened on with old and rusty studs around the edge. It was obviously something which was very old indeed. Quick drive to B&Q and for a total of £95 can buy a set of four chairs and table (https://www.diy.com/departments/basco-grey-metal-4-seater-dining-set/5063022732064_BQ.prd).
I would like to say that once inside the property, it’s great. But if you’re in a wheelchair, it’s not so great.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such detailed feedback. We're pleased to hear you found the property clean, comfortable and wonderfully quiet, and that once inside you enjoyed the spacious layout and wet rooms. We're very sorry to learn that you experienced difficulties accessing the property. We completely appreciate that accessibility needs can vary significantly depending on the individual, their wheelchair and how they use it, and we're genuinely sorry that the property wasn't suitable for your requirements. The property does have a detailed Access Statement, which includes measurements and information about the layout to help guests assess its suitability before booking. This information has also been reviewed as part of the property's inclusion on DisabledHolidays.com, a specialist accessible holiday provider, and the listing meets Airbnb's accessibility requirements. We have also welcomed a number of wheelchair users to the property previously and, until now, have not received similar feedback regarding access. However, we fully recognise that one person's experience can differ greatly from another's, and your comments have highlighted that we can do more to make the property's limitations and layout even clearer before booking so guests can make the most informed decision possible. Thank you also for your comments regarding the outdoor furniture. Whilst this is the first time this has been raised, we will inspect it carefully and consider whether it is time for replacement to ensure it continues to meet the standards we expect. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. Feedback such as yours helps us continually review both the property itself and the information we provide, and we wish you all the very best for your future travels.

Our main reason for picking this location was because it provided wheel chair access., a good choice, the accommodation was well laid out and was very suitable for a w.c. the entrance was a bit tricky and also the car drop off wasn't easy.
The kitchen was well laid out, every thing to hand.
Both the shower areas were good.
No problem with the living area.
Ideal for cycling.
Nearest shops were twenty minutes away, Tesco Express and Co-op.

We had a lovely three night break at High Tarn Green. The rural location made for a quiet peaceful stay in warm, comfortable and well presented accommodation. The property had everything we required and we had no need to bother our hosts who had left us some nice biscuits, milk, orange juice and wine to find on our arrival, a nice touch. The property location is ideal for exploring the South Lakes area and The Furness Peninsular and we would have no hesitation in recommending it to family and friends.

Throughly enjoyed our stay at High Tarn Green. Ideal for my elderly mother as all on one level and grip handles in bathroom. The only issue was the disappointingly low pressure on both showers . The showers prevent me from recommending the property to others.

This house is really well appointed with everything that we could have wished for for my wife who recently broke her hip. It is situated in a very beautiful rural spot in the South Lakes and the owner was extremely helpful and even arranged some nice weather for the whole week!

High Tarn Green is a lovely place to stay in. We liked having two ensuites as well as two bedrooms, although I found the shower in the ensuite off the double bedroom difficult to get the right temperature and a strong flow of water. We also liked the chairs with the footstools.
The roads to and from are single track, but we hardly ever met a vehicle coming the other way, so not a problem for us. We visited many places in the Lake District while staying here. It was lovely.

Lovely host, very clean and high quality. Location not great as quite isolated. But beautiful views. Great value for money.
