We did a Friday to Monday stay in Mecklin Caravan, myself, hubby, 2 sons (11,9) & our dog.
I found Parkgate on a search of places to stay in the local area & thought it looked like a beautiful place to stay & I was not wrong!!!
The site is clean, quiet, well equipped & offers beautiful scenery.
It is a small family run site & has a very warm & welcoming feeling.
The owners Sandy & Bruce are so friendly, approachable & are on hand if you need anything. They provide coal for their BBQs, wood for their fire pits & smore packs for a delicious treat, all at great value we think.
We sat by our fire pit nearly every night & enjoyed watching the sun going down whilst enjoying our toasted marshmallows.
My sons & I especially loved seeing the Donkeys & feeding them apples & carrots, they’re very friendly & love a stroke.
It was a real treat on a morning to open the caravan curtains & be greeted by the most stunning view & see wild deer wandering around in the fields.
The caravan was clean, warm, comfortable & had a well equipped kitchen, it had everything we needed for our stay.
There is a field with football goals each end & tubs of outdoor toys for children to play with.
One evening we had a walk to the pond on site & saw Bruce & some of his family fishing, my sons were happy as they saw them catch a fish & then release it back into the water.
The caravan had an information booklet in with details of things to do in the surrounding areas & I had found lots of information on their website too.
We would 100% go back to Parkgate Farm & would recommend it to friends & family as well.

Every day the scenery had something new to see, deer, buzzards, herons, swifts, wagtails etc. Very friendly site wardens and staff.
Ideal for visiting the west coast towns and of course a trip on the Ravenglass Railway or Muncaster Castle.

Another successful visit to Parkgate Farm. As usual good clean accommodation in easy reach of great outdoor areas for hiking and biking.

Just had a fantastic 5 nights in a caravan. Everything I needed was in there, including a few lovely extras such as fresh milk on arrival. Very quiet location, beautiful surroundings. Staff very nice and welcoming. Can not fault anything. Car is needed, but a good base. I shall definitely return. Thank you!

Lovely park, peaceful and beautiful views. Would return. We love this part of the Lakes. Near mountains and the sea.
