Me and 3 other friends stayed at parkgate for a long weekend get away. From the moment we arrived sandy and bruce were so attentive and lovely, they helped us with any problems and were only a text message away when needed. The facilities were clean and tidy 24/7, even in the rain. Would highly recommend and we will 100% be back.
We’ve just got back from a long weekend away at Parkgate Farm and we are feeling well and truly recharged. Everyone on site is so welcoming and friendly, they truly went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. They even offered to set up some surprise decorations in our cabin that I had sent on ahead of time! The site is a real gem, the perfect balance of quiet and peaceful without feeling cut off. Lovely friendly staff, stunning location. The caravans are so spacious, cosy and warm... Don't forget carrots for the Donkeys!
The campsite was lovely, nice and quiet with good clean facilities (toilet, showers, washing up area etc). Both the owner Nick and the wardens (Sandy and Bruce) were so friendly and helpful and really made me feel welcome! I will certainly be back to visit again.
We had an amazing time during our stay at Tinkler Craggs. The owner/ people there were so friendly, kind and welcoming. We had an amazing view from the patio, the rooms were very comfortable as well. The services they provided were also done very quickly and had very good communication. The location of the home itself was excellent as well, with a booklet of information on things we can do/ shop/ eat out was also provided. Thank you so much once again for having us- will definitely come back again soon!

This is one of those reviews you don't want to do as you don't want too many people to know its there but it deserves a big shout out! The wardens are so friendly and accomodating, fantastic pitches with plenty of space and outstanding views, the facilities are 5* and the option for biscuits and marshmallows to have with your camp fire is a great touch. You'll pay more than your standard campsite but there is a clear reason for that and personally stands as our number 1 site in the Lakes.
Loved everything about the site, view, accommodation and the owners who were very helpful. Would highly recommend this site and plan to return in a couple of years.
Our third stay at Miterdale (and rebooked again) - it's really that good! Last June we had hot sunny weather and gorgeous red sunsets over the bay, all with a glass of wine on the decking patio overlooking the estuary - this year, wind and thunderstorms, white horses on the bay and surf at the entrance by Eskmeal Dunes. Looking from the comfort of the cottage through the French windows, or from the patio outside, the cottage has the best coastal view we have ever had from our numerous seashore stays in England over the years. What a fantastic stay! It has been our favourite Lake District site so far and we’ll definitely be back! The cabin has everything you need, with plenty of space and a logical layout (such as loads of, and I’ll add ‘cool’, hooks for bags, waterproofs etc). The site and cabin was always clean and well maintained and provides lots of extra items for you to purchase if you need (such as BBQ things etc) And the view - just wow - looking at that every morning and evening from the comfort of the cabin was just glorious. 5 of us plus a dog stayed at Whin Rigg caravan. It sleeps 6 but the living space was a little small for 3 adults and 2 teenagers. However, the location more than made up for it. It's beautiful. We loved visiting Wast Water, the beaches are lovely (especially Seascale), there's a fantastic bookshop that makes Whitehaven worth a visit, along with a walk up the old mine with views to Scotland, Ireland and the Isle of Man. And the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway is great. We will be returning for sure.
Great small campsite. We stayed on pitch 8 not 9 but both have amazing views and set above the rest of the campsite. The camp hosts are lovely and definitely are a big plus for the site. Recommend for people who want some quiet time and do not need to be in walking distance of anything. This part of the Lakes is really beautiful. The only negative is the dogs barking at 10.30 ish every night, I presume from the farm as the dogs on site were well behaved. Beautiful peaceful site that feels spacious and not over crowded. 360 degrees of lovely countryside views and the grounds themselves are v well kept. Good facilities that are kept very clean during the day (during the late evening/night the showers can get a bit messy if its muddy out, can't really be helped and is the nature of camping). Wardens were helpful and welcoming, sending texts the morning of our arrival about the best route into the site and greeting us upon arrival to show us to our site and give a low down on the facilities on offer. We visited Parkgate Farm about 9 years ago when it was a new venture and we were not disappointed at our return visit. The new lodges and camping area blends in well. We still had the beautiful views from the caravan and of course still the donkeys wandering about. This is a beautiful quiet part of the Lake District with plenty of things to do and see if you do your homework first. The caravan was very clean with extras that made it real “ home from home “. An ideal place if you want to get away from it all.
Absolutely fabulous. Amazing location and great facilities. Yurts and pitches. My only negative was the lack of electrical hook-up at Pitch 1. It was really quiet with a 'curfew' from 10:00 to 08:00. Lovely showers, clean. toilets and great wash room. The hosts were really friendly.
A fantastic peaceful site with stunning views of the mountains. A very warm welcome and great support during our stay. Facilities kept very clean and in good order.
The holiday at Harter Cottage came as a welcome break from my cancer treatment, leaving that behind to relax and slow down. What more could one want than the wide variety of bird live, deer in the fields and one young deer looking through the window in the garden.
